What the heck is a Dole Whip??

Vanilla pineapple float is my favorite...and I don't even like pineapple... YUM :)

Oh. My. Goodness. This says you can get a dole whip at Menchies Frozen Yogurt. I looked up to see where a Menchies was......and there are 3 of them within 45 minutes of my house.

I have Saturday plans y'all

I just looked and there are two within half an hour of me. Woo hoo!

I would have to go to Erie, PA which is about 2 or so hours away.

Well I can only hope Kennywood still has them this summer.

I'm apparently one of the few that think you've been spared -- there's alot of hype over a DW, but after tasting one myself I was unimpressed. :confused3

Meh...
It sure does have a loyal following, but I was not impressed.
Yu'll just have to try one to see which camp you're in.

Are you sure about the no dairy?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gelato

http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-gelato.htm

In Italy you can't call it Gelato unless is has 3.5% butterfat. I always thought what made it different was less air.

Main reason I ask is that I am always looking for non dairy ice cream like desserts.

Actually, the poster who said it was like gelato is incorrect - Dole whips are dairy free. I find the pineapple pretty tasty, and like the floats even better (pineapple soft serve with pineapple juice).

It's very overrated is what it is.

DIS posters can build anything up to be the greatest thing of all time, the Dole Whip is by all accounts the Holy Grail of snacks.

If you just came upon one by happenstance and ordered it, you'd probably think it was good.

The build-up it has received here on the Dis, though, will probably leave you disappointed in reality.

So I think we may live in the same area. :) If you go to King's Kones in Butler, they have dole whip! I've been on a diet so I haven't made it there yet.
