What Surprises have you planned for any of your Disney vacations?

Anyone have any ideas for surprising my boys 8 & 5 about the trip? We are going end of Aug. I was thinking of a scavenger hunt the night before we leave. Any ideas on how to do the scavenger hunt? I thought I read somewhere before about certain clues I could print. I surprised them last year with a balloon in a box and they loved it.
Thanks!

you could make it a themed scavenger hunt.....like Toy Story or Pirates. If they've got some of the toys, the toys can hold the clues! then Buzz ( or Cpt Jack) or whomever, can "invite" the boys to Disney !! But maybe for a few days before you go, you could do some weird "hints". Like get a bucket of the green army men......put one in their drink cup (freeze them in the ice) or sticking out of their dinner (can you just picture the green army men conquering the mashed potatoes?) .... or leave some pirate gold ( those gold coin candies) on the plate or on their bed when they wake up.....or get a bunch of the Mickey head paint chips from Home Depot and leave them around the house. that'll make them wonder what's going on. They'll be confused for days!!! :rotfl:

Then you can spring the scavenger hunt on them! :woohoo:

This past April we took my niece to Disney for the first time. When we arrived at the resort we got our room key and I handed it to my ds so that he could jump out of the vehicle when we arrived at our room and run in and plant all kinds of princess and mickey Items all over the bed. We also made up a certificate certifying her an official Disney princess. It doesn't sound like much but to her it was the best. Every day when we would leave the room DS would run back to the room and put more stuff on the bed for her...

This December trip is a trip that I wanted to take for my birthday, but my brother and sister-in-law's one year anniversary is November 14, so I really wanted to do something special to celebrate them. So I've decided to order an anniversary cake for them when we have dinner at Narcoosee's. The plan so far is for it to be a mickey and minnie star wars theme.

Have you gone to the board where you can have someone who is visiting WDW before you get a post card with a signature or two and send it to your kids as a surprise? I want to say it's called Fairy Godmailer list. Find someonw who will send your kids a card that says see you soon or something from their favorite characters. I did that for my kids for one of our trips. They each got a card and loved it. Thought it was the best thing in the world, and how did the characters know that they were coming down soon to visit???

I did that for my nieces! At the time, their favorite warrior/princess was Mulan, so I bought a couple of princess postcards, stood in line for her autograph, then sent the postcards to them. They loved getting mail from Mulan!

hahahah I am the queen and master of all things surprises :D

1 - we told them we are getting married at Disney. Well. We changed it - it is just the 4 of us so we are getting married in a hot air balloon ABOVE Disney World now :D

2 - We are doing pirate makeovers, then that night doing the pirate and friends cruise together

3 - The day we have the princess buffet in Epcot planned my daughter is getting full treatment at BBB at 8:30AM - before the MK opens :D mwhahahahah

:cloud9:

A few weeks ago, DH asked if we could upgrade to a moderate... for something different. I called and booked POFQ but told him there were no upgrades in our price range. He will love this surprise!

OK Mr. DH, this was completely unneccessary! Some people really like to be surprised. I fully realize you don't which is why the only surprise I now have planned is for our 2 children to receive a princess treasure chest and dessert to celebrate her 8th b-day and for our son to celebrate graduating elementary school (with a pirate treasure chest and dessert) at our 50's Prime Time Diner Ressie. You get no surprises mister!!!:lmao:

Before any flamers come visit me, that really is my husband that posted that.:scared1:

Love ya dear :hug::rolleyes1:rolleyes::flower3:

All that said, I STILL don't like surprises. :maleficen:furious:

I am her hubby. Check out our sigs.

Me and my boyfriend are planning a 3 week trip from November-December or in April next year, depends on the money situation and how soon we can get everything scraped together!

He loves space but so far I've convinced him that the Kennedy Space Centre is impossibe to get to, so when we get there (whenever we get there!) I'm going to find a little rocket soft toy and attach the tickets to them! He'll love it!

Any idea for any other 'male' surprises?

A couple years ago I suprised my then 7yr old niece with Mickey's Not So Scary party tickets.

We were not going to go to the party, but thanks to some overtime at work, I splurged and got tickets. I had a balloon boquet delivered to our resort, with a card from Mickey addressed to my niece. It said he had heard she wasn't going to be able to go to the party, and he would miss her, so here were our tickets.:) She was sooo excited!

I surprsied my daughter for her 6th birthday. My husband drove us to the airport and she thought she was dropping Mommy off for a business trip. We waited until we got to the airport, I got my bags out and kissed and hugged her goodbye. Just as I was walking away, I turned around and asked her if she wanted to come with me. She jumped out of the car and my husband gave me her bags from the trunk. She kept saying I can't believe it, where are we going? I asked her where she wanted to go and as luck would have it she said Disney World, and I said okay, let's go to Disney! Not sure what I would have done if she had said she wanted to go somewhere else. But we headed to FL. She still talks about the airport drop off surprise and that was months ago.

This just made me cry!!! What a great thing for you and your husband to do! Lucky Lucky little girl!!!

What's a princess treasure chest?? And I think I read someone else say there's a pirate Treasure chest..... Sounds like fun!!! I'm going with my boys (5&4) and my niece and nephew (2 & 1) - they all LOVE LOVE LOVE pirates!

so for my own planned surprises...

During our last trip I had a lot up my sleeve...

- before I left I had two sweatshirts made up for my parents with their favorite disney characters and "Grandma" and "Papa" embroidered on them. My boys gave them to them as a thank you on the first night we were there.

- I packed the boys carry-ons for the plane. They were jam packed with new disney books, activity books, stickers, crayons, cards, headphones, figurines and, of course, tootsie rolls! I also loaded new movies onto my ipod touch for them to watch.

- I bought a small gift for every night we were there. I'd put it out after they had gone to sleep so when they woke up it would be there to surprise them... bath toys, disney pajamas, disney figurines, Disney bowls and cups, glow sticks and bracelets, goggles. flip flops and towels for the pool, new tee shirts, jibits for their crocs, new sunglasses, Wall•E Binoculars

- I had postcards sent to they boys and my parents before the trip. BIG HIT!

I'm on a pretty strict budget, but I started looking for things as soon as the trip was booked and I ended up getting everything VERY inexpensively. Almost everything disney was from the Disney Store - but I waited till it discounted and then discounted again!

Good luck and Happy Planning!

They are the same thing basically. I was told by the CM on the dining reservation line that it has the chest (princess pink), a cake/piece of cake/dessert item, and a "toy". It costs $15 to order and they can do a reason for it. We are doing Birthday for DD and Graduation(from Elementary school) for DS. We wanted them both to get one but didn't know what to celebrate for DS. This works for us.:lmao:

I have seen a picture of them on the boards here somewhere, but I really have no idea where it was. I tried to find it and post it here for you but no luck. So sorry. If you look around here, I bet with a few hours time :confused3 :rolleyes1 you could find it. If I find it anywhere, I will post for you.

Thanks smithmom!! It was a very special surprise!! I can not tell you how great it felt to do this for her.

I suspect treachery afoot. A thread about surprises? You would not surprise the children, and not include me somehow. The question is, should I play detective, or just let it go...

Really dear? You getting a little paranoid??? :confused3 It seems so. You know I love to hear other good stories and how other people plan things. THAT is what prompted this thread, not some kind of hidden meaning or message. Really? You might want to see someone about this problem you have. That is why I come here to the DISboards. My problem is not getting back to my "home" often enough and this board helps me get into my "world" more often. So dear husband, that is what this is all about.

Our children love to collect and trade the disney pins!

I order them in advance (from ebay), and every morning during our trip I surprise each child with 2 pins. Then they get to choose if they like them to keep them, or trade them during that day. They spend all day in the parks looking for new pins!

It's something small, but each pin becomes a great story or memory for the children! The cast members make it a fun game!

We are going in 17 days (yeah!!!). my dd is 12 going on 20 she did not want to go to disney this year because she is to grown for it does anyone have any suggestions for what surprises i could get my growing baby girl???
thanks
kim
