What gets you welling up and why??? There are lots of songs that make people cry, but are there any lyrics that you can't listen to in public for fear of bursting into tears????

Song?
Lyric?
Reason?

Mine is:

Song: Michael Buble 'Home'

Lyric: 'I'm just to far, from where you are, I wanna come home' :guilty:
and 'I've had my run, baby I'm done, I gotta go home' :guilty:

Honestly I'm welling up just writing that..... :confused3

Reason: I'm in a long distance relationship with my SO (not for much longer! :Pinkbounc )

for me it's eric clapton's song for his little boy who died after falling out of a highrise window:

"would you know my name if i saw you in heaven.." i tear up as soon as i hear the first strains of it.

Lots of songs make me cry but one that comes to mind right away is the I LOVE YOU song by Barney :headache:

My friend's son was born still born and this song always makes me cry.

My Name (George Canyon)

It's cold in here
Feels like everything's upside down
I can feel you talkin'
But I can barely make out the sound
And I've been kickin' around these parts
Feels like a year
And I'm going to change this world
If I ever get out of here
She wants to dress me in pink
Paints my bedroom blue
And I just laugh to myself
'Cause only I know the truth

This love is my only emotion
Haven't learned any fear, any pain
It's kind of funny with all this commotion
Guess they've got me to blame
They don't even know my name
They don't even know my name

Well, I've never felt so ready
Think it's finally time
'Cause that big ol' world is waiting
And it's mine, all mine
Just then everything got real quiet
And it got real bright
And a man took my hand, said don't worry
Your Mama's going to be alright
Then he opened the gate
And I followed him in
Said you can wait right here
'Til it's your turn again

His love is the one true emotion
Heaven knows no fear, no pain
I never got to set my wheels in motion
But they loved me just the same
And they didn't even know my name
They didn't even know my name

You loved me just the same
And you didn't even know my name

"Let there be Peace on Earth" does it to me everytime. It is especially teary if it is performed by a child or childrens chorus.

This does it for me as well. Also, the star spangled banner, believe it on not! That country song, I'm already there and butterfly kisses. I need a tissue now!

i have a few....Rascal Flatts "sara beth" -its a song about a girl with cancer,i get teary eyed every time..
also, like someone else said " IM already there"

Like Figment, mine is a song sung by children about peace. I'm currently rehearsing for a local theater production of "A Christmas Carol". I've been listening to this music for 2 years now (by Alan Menken-I love this show) so you would think I'd get over it but I never do! During the bows, we sing a version of "God Bless Us Everyone". The little kids sing :

Till each child is fed
Till all men are free
Till the world becomes a family

That gets me everytime!
Deb

There is a song by Mike and The Mechanics called "Through The Living Years".

One of the lines goes something like "I think I heard your laughter in my daughters newborn tears, I just wish I could have told you in the living years"

My FIL died just before I got pregnant with DD#1, this line hits me every single time, because he would have so loved being a Grandpa.

I hope you had the time of your life.... I forget, maybe GreenDay, makes me think of that ER episode.

Calling all Angels.... it was my "get-me-through-this-dratted-cancer" song

The country song about the little abused girl who knows Jesus, cause he was there with her, behind the couch, he got dowon from that cross... can't think of the name.

Angels Around Us.....maybe by Alabama?

God Bless the USA by Lee Greenwood

OOK, and even Christmas Shoes.....

Mary Did you Know....by Kenny Rogers

And one that was already mentioned, but I'm too emotional now to remember it! :guilty:

"christmas shoes" Is that the song where the little boy need more money to buy shoes for his mother and I think there is a line ......when mommy meets Jesus tonight" Oh here the tears go again!!! Why are all the tearjerkers country songs?!

"In My Life" by the Beatles. Such a bittersweet song.

I am only admitting this because I believe I am completely anonymous,

The Pina Colada Song by Rupert Holmes. I just love it because they break up to find the loves of their lives only to find that they already had the love of their live with each other.

How about Train 'when i look to the sky, somethin' tells me your here......'

Blake Shelton's "Goodbye Time".

And as if the song isn't bad enough, the video rips my heart right out. Wahhhh!

No secret I'm a Bon Jovi fan. New CD is one of the best. Their music, in recent years is so optimistic and inspirational. This one is the first song in a long time to make me well up. But I don't know - maybe it was one of those days

Welcome to wherever you are
this is your life, you've made it this far
Welcome; you've gotta believe
that right here right now
you're exactly where you're supposed to be.

song: I can't make you love me by Bonnie Rait

Lyric: "Here in the dark, in these final hours, I will lay down my heart and I'll feel the power but you won't, no you won't"

reason: It concisely conveys the heart break of loving someone who doesn't feel the same and what it must be like to have to give up.

Fortress by sting

Lyric: "If I built this fortress around your heart, encircled you in trenches and barbed wire, then let me build a bridge, for I cannot fill the chasm and let me set the battlements on fire.

Reason: It has to be one of the best apologies in the history of music.
