What songs make you sad?

There are alot of songs that can bring tears to my eyes.

Lets start here

Without You (motley crue)---First song my wife and I danced to. We were in California on a school trip and going to disneyland. (this is when we were dating)

Songs that me and my wife used to listen too and cuddle too under the stars when we were dating.

Help me hold on(travis tritt)
Drift off to dream(travis tritt)
Lifes little ups and downs(Rick Van Shelton)

Songs that make me sad cuz it makes me think of my kids

I wish I could have been there (John Anderson)
Then they do (Trace atkins)
The walk(Sawyer Brown)--Probably gets me more than most other songs.


and last but not least, Vince Gills Go rest high on that mountain makes me think of my grandmother.

Every time I hear "When Somebody Loved Me" from Toy Story 2, I cry. Every single time!

The song from the scene in Dumbo when his mama is cradling him in her trunk...think it's called "Baby of Mine"

There are a lot of sogns that could make me sad. I don't know their names off hand because I refuse to listen to anything that makes me sad. For me music ( I am addicted to music) is my happy place and I refuse to listen to anything even remotely sad.

I feel the same way, but sometimes songs just sneak up and get to you! If I'm listening to the radio during Christmastime, it can be bad. Lots of Christmas songs have the power to make me really misty-eyed, and I never know when they are coming. I'm rocking out to Bruce Springsteen singing "Santa Clause is Comin' To Town", then all of a sudden, "The Christmas Shoes" starts up and I can't get to the button to change it. Boom! I'm a mess! And I really hate that that song is so manipulative, too.

So many Carrie Underwood songs make me cry... "Someday When I Stop Loving You", "Mama's Song".. even some of her happy songs make me cry.

Mine are "Where were you when the world stopped turning" by Alan Jackson. Brings me right back to 9/11 and those horrible images.
My second is "Crazy" by Patsy Cline. My grandfather was a huge Patsy fan and he and my mom "danced" to that song together the day before he died. Ugh! Gets me choked up even thinking about it. I say "danced" because he couldn't stand so they sat on the side of his bed and swayed to the song together.

The extra special ones:
Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman and Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle--Both songs cause me to dissolve into tears! DD13 is just growing up too fast! I'm hoping she'll want to use Cinderella for the father/daughter dance at her wedding someday, although I know I will be a wreck watching them if she does.

My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion--I know, I know... But, it has special meaning to us. My MIL died from breast cancer in 2008, when DD (her first grandchild) was 6 months old. We were in the hospital room with her when she passed...DD had been fussy all morning, but had just fallen asleep a few minutes before. A couple of weeks later, the video came on TV as I was feeding DD, and as soon as she heard it, she spit out her bottle, sat bolt upright and stared at the TV for the entire length of the song. Every time the song was on after that, she would do the exact same thing...stop what she was doing and listen. If she was fussy, we'd put it on and she would immediately stop crying! As she got older, she would babble along to it, and once she figured out the words, she would sing at the top of her lungs. It's her song, and I think it has something to do with her angel grandma. So, when I finally got to see Celine in concert a few years ago, I was a little upset that she hadn't performed the song by the end of the show. Then, all of a sudden, they started showing Titanic scenes on the screen over the stage, and that familiar flute started playing, and I absolutely lost it!!!
But the worst was when DD's concert choir sang it in their spring show a few weeks ago...I'm sure the other parents were wondering what was wrong with me...

How Great Thou Art--played at Daddy's funeral. I know our song director has got to wonder who every time he has us sing that song I am standing their with the tears flowing.

Stairway to Heaven--a good friend of both of my sons was killed in a car wreck while listening to this song. His cousin was driving and they took a longer way home so they could listen to the song in the car. He made a left turn in front of someone. The story was told at the funeral and now all I can think of when I hear it is this kid running around playing ball with my sons in the yard all summer when they were younger.

Three Times a Lady (Commadors)--my first love, it was "our song"--the first song we danced to. We broke up and a couple of years later he was killed in a car wreck.

OH I understand this too. And I actually forgot about Christmas songs. Although happy, they tend to make me cry, even more so now that my parents have both passes away. In all honesty that Christmas Shoe song makes me mad, and no everyone I am not kidding. I don't know why someone would feel the need to write a song about a child's mother dying at Christmas.

My father used to like that song and since he died, I cry when I hear it. Dance With My Father by Luther Vandross is another one that sets me off. I heard it on line in the supermarket one time and had to run to the bathroom. Last but not least Do What I Gotta Do by Ralph Tresvant.

The later was the last song that my wife and I danced to at my daughters wedding. Just a few months later we were divorced after 29 years of marriage. I guess the irony of it all just kind of chokes me up.
