What songs make you sad?

I'm Movin' On by Rascal Flatts.

"I never dreamed home would end up where I don't belong...I'm movin' on"

Tears are streaming down my cheeks as I type this.:sad1:

Queen Colleen

"In the Ghetto" by Elvis

Wow, I never realized so many songs made me sad!

I agree with some of the above...Lullabye by Billy Joel gets me every time.
In my daughter's eyes by Martina McBride chokes me up. Heard it when my dd was a newborn.

I'll Be Home for Christmas by Josh Groban. It's interspersed with troops saying Merry Christmas to loved ones.

Home by Chris Daughtry. That CD had come out right before my uncle passed away and that song hit me hard, because I felt he'd gone "home".

I'm sure there are others as well..but these were the few that popped into my head first.

The song from the scene in Dumbo when his mama is cradling him in her trunk...think it's called "Baby of Mine"? man, it makes me cry!!

*hurt- johnny cash (THIS MAKES ME LOSE IT!!!!! and again, the original version doesn't make me cry, but when johnny cash sings it....along with the music video...i'm a puddle!)

This is the best video. I get MAJOR cold chills just thinking about it. It's absolute perfection. Cold chils.....really, right now!

I know I have a post on here somewhere but I hadn't found it yet. When I saw this comment I just thought, what the heck, I'll go ahead and post some more I thought of. Might be some repeats.

Kathy's Song- Simon and Garfunkel

As someone else said, O Holy Night and Ave Maria

One Moment More-Mindy Smith ( I know no one knows who this is so I'll post a link to YouTube). My friend's daughter died in March and this makes me think of her http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jzu3Ihyq50c

She wrote it in memory of her mother when she died.

Hallelujah=Jeff Buckley

My City of Ruins- Bruce Springsteen (for 9/11)

Mad World

Sounds of Silence -Simon and Garfunkel

The Dance-Garth Brooks

That's the Way- Led Zeppelin
This Woman's Work- Kate Bush (esp when its playing in She's Having a Baby)

A song that always makes me cry since I can remember is the one by Reba Mcentire called "What do you say" I get goosepumps every time i hear it, so sad.

Follow You Follow Me - Genesis(a friend was killed by a drunk driver in high school and this was her favorite song we played it at her memorial at school)

And Dance With My Father Again- Just because I miss Luther and hearing him sing about missing his dead father and then he dies- well :sad1:

Have you heard Celine Dion's version? Very haunting and beautiful too.

"To where you are" with Josh Groban. I heard it for the first time 2 days after my mother suddenly died and it was played at her funeral a week later. Always makes me very sad!

A lot of the songs already mentioned make me tear up, so I will add 2 more

Wintersong by Sarah Mclachlan - I can't even listen to it. She writes a lot of sad songs.

You'll Be in My Heart - Phil Collins off the Tarzan soundtrack. Just reminds me that my baby is growing up and I won't always be around to protect him.

Blessings by Laura Story

We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love is way too much to give us lesser things

‘Cause what if your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights are what it takes to know You’re near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
We cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt your goodness, we doubt your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
All the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we’d have faith to believe

When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know that pain reminds this heart
That this is not our home

What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy
What if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are your mercies in disguise

A couple mentioned Johnny Cash: Hurt, the video especially is just so haunting, it makes me cry.

When Princess Diana died, Elton John revamped Candle in the wind for her, that makes me cry.

From a phone booth in Vegas, Jessie calls at 5 A.M.
To tell me how she's tired of all of them
She says, "Baby I've been thinking about a trailer by the sea
We could go to Mexico, you, the cat, and me
We'll drink Tequila and look for sea shells,
Now doesn't that sound sweet?"
Ah Jessie you always do this every time I get back on my feet

Jessie paint your pictures about how it's gonna be
By now I should know better, your dreams are never free
But tell me all about our little trailer by the sea
Jessie you can always sell any dream to me
Oh Jessie, you can always sell any dream to me

She asks me how the cat's been, I say, "Moses he's just fine"
But he used to think about you all the time
We finally took your pictures down off the wall
Jessie how do you always seem to know just when to call
She says, "Get your stuff together, bring Mose' and drive real fast"
And I listen to her promise "I swear to God this time it's gonna last"

Jessie paint your pictures about how it's gonna be
By now I should know better, your dreams are never free
But tell me all about our little trailer by the sea
Jessie you can always sell any dream to me
Oh Jessie you can always sell any dream to me

Jessie you can always sell any dream to me

I'll love you in the sunshine,
Lay you down in the warm white sand
And who knows maybe this time,
Things will turn out just the way you planned

Jessie paint your pictures about how it's gonna be
By now I should know better, your dreams are never free
But tell me all about our little trailer by the sea
Jessie you can always sell any dream to me
Oh Jessie, you can always sell any dream to me

I believe- Brooks & Dunn
Goodbye to Romance- Ozzy
I Honestly Love You- Olivia Newton John
Edelweiss- sound of Music
Mama Like the Roses- Elvis:sad1:

Did you know it was written for Sarah Jessica Parker?

My "cry" song is "Anything for You" by Gloria Estefan. My mom used to run and turn off the radio when it was on. It came out right after my HS boyfriend dumped me. It was playing when I was driving and I saw him walking w/his new GF. Never thought I would make it home in one piece. (Funny though.. it's now 25 years later and I still keep in touch w/him.. she turned out to be a nut-job. :)

Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton. I can't even listen to it, even though it is a beautiful song.

Candle in the Wind by Elton John. The first version makes me sad for Marilyn Monroe, the second for Diana.

Absolutely - Tears in Heaven.

I have a few songs that make me sad. But not necessarily for normal reasons. I will try my best to explain.

The Dance by Garth Brooks. The first time I remember hearing this song was right after my first dog had died. I tried explaining the song to my mom by saying that even though I was sad that the dog had died, at least I had the chance to have all those good times with him. Now when I hear that song, it makes me sad that never again will I be that little girl whose only experience with loss was a dog. Hearing this song now makes me sad about everyone I have lost, but mostly for that little girl that I've lost.

I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack. This was the first song, my old best friend and I had danced to. At the time, I loved the song, and secretly him. Now I hear it and think of the chance and later friendship that was lost between us.

Breathless by The Corrs. The night my old best friend(different one) told me he was gay, this song came on multiple times. It became "our" song. Whenever I hear it now, I cry over the time and energy that was wasted on our "friendship".

Delilah by The Plain White T's. This was the last song to play in the car before my best friend and my godchildren moved to California. When I hear that song, I shed a tear or two. Then I text my best friend to tell her I love her and the babies.

Just Like A Pill by Pink. This song was playing in the car when we were on the way to the hospital after my PawPaw had passed. Every time I hear the line "I can't stay on your life support, there's a shortage in the switch." I lose it. It's not so much the song itself, but the fact that I can remember hearing that day.

There are even some techno and dance songs that I can't listen to anymore because of what they remind me of.

Sorry this is so long.
