Have been reading these posts for quite awhile and have yet to see anyone comment about the snakes. Now I know there are all kinds of wildlife around WDW but this is the third time I have encountered another snake. Anyone else have an experience where you were up close to a snake at your resort? I now watch the ground when I walk at a resort.

Thankfully have never seen one at a resort, but did see one outside the Haunted Mansion. I'm paranoid now about maybe one being INSIDE the HM where it would be dark and cool.

I seen a few snakes at Disney World! I seen black racers while biking through Fort Wilderness. The most scary one I saw was in the pool at Wilderness Lodge! They had to call out some Disney animal control guys to come and get it out of the pool. They said it was a brown banded water snake. Here's a picture of the guy in the Wilderness Lodge pool catching the thing (sort of dark, sorry!)!

After they got the snake out, I went swimming in the pool! What were the chances of finding another one? :teeth:

Umm, hello! At what resort did you see a snake?! My DH would DIE if he saw a snake at WDW! He would likely make all the cable news network programs as being the first the die at WDW after seeing a snake. I am so not kidding. I need to know--we are staying at the Poly 7/25-7/30. More info please!!!!

Last summer my DD and I were sitting on a bench after exiting the Haunted Mansion. I raised my arm to put it on the back of the bench. DD screamed and jumped off pulling me with her. A long snake was stretched out on the bench back! :scared1:

We usually only seen black snakes at the resorts but once I saw a corn snake. Black snakes are generally more terrified of you and will do whatever possible to get away from you.

2 years ago we saw an enormous blackish colored snake from the 5th floor of WL. It was down in one of the "otter ponds" but it had to be a good 4-6 feet long because it looked enormous, even from 5 stories up. YIKES. I have yet to see one up close however. This is Florida though, so snakes, like other lizardy creatures are to be expected I guess.

We saw a dead snake on the sidewalk near the parking lot at POFQ. It was black.

Have seen many Black Racers. They are harmless and very shy and eat rodents. POFQ, POR, AK. I like snakes :goodvibes Yes I am weird!!

YUCK! I haven't seen a snake at WDW...but we do live here in FL and we have them around everywhere! We have even had a couple (babies) in our pool...and it's screened in, mind you! Those darn things can get in anywhere!

My husband always says...."if the snake is in water, you can pretty much guarantee that it's not a GOOD snake"......ie..water moccasin!!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

YUCK YUCK YUCK!!! Snakes in water= no good!!!

A few years back, while staying at the Poly, my daughter and I saw a man in the hallway only in his undershorts (boxers), and he was bending down with a towel, kind of chasing something. We walked down to see what he was doing. He was tyring to get a snake. He said it had been in his room, and his wife was freaking out. We were on the ground floor. The snake went out the end of hall door finally, and he was so embarrased to realize he was standing there talking to us in his undershorts! It really didn't bother us much. We couldn't see anything. (Plus my adult daughter and I thought he was pretty good looking!)

Once at the Contemporary beach my daughters saw a snake there.

Also, once I was floating down a lazy river at one of the water parks, and felt something on my shoulder. I turned to see one of those lizards perched there. I knocked it off, and it was kind of icky, but they are all over the place. I know one of my daughters and my daughter-in-law saw a snake in the lazy river at Typhoon lagoon once too.

Really, it's all just nature. They have as much of a right to be around as we do.

I saw a python at Disney once....

Oh wait. That was back when Discovery Island was still around.

This past June my wife saw a snake at FW while walking the dog, like your husband, I think the whole campground knows about it. We all saw two rats at different locations, my wife thought one was a baby bunny but they don't have long tails. I think a more serious problem is Gators which I have seen more than once.

I wasn't close enough to tell what kind of snake it was, but the only one I've seen at WDW was in the claws of a bird. We were riding the train around the MK and were on the back side. The bird was flying next to and above us carrying a very long snake. I kept hoping it didn't drop it!

I've never seen a snake at WDW.

DH says I almost stepped on one at POFQ in 2004, but I didn't see it. We were walking on the path between POR and POFQ.

I don't like snakes at all, but my 12 yo says it's better to have non-poisonous snakes around than to have a bunch of rodents.

The only time we have EVER seen a snake was in 1986. It was on the path in front of Fulton's Crab House and was a Cottonmouth.

We have, however, seen several alligators in the lakes scattered about...looking for them in and around the lakes is now our entertainment on the bus rides to the parks. :)

Snake in the parking lot at ASMo. Snake on the stairwell at ASMu. Almost STEPPED on a snake at Blizzard Beach - but it slithered into the lazy river just before my foot touched it.
