What site do you use to plan road trip?

We are planning a summer trip from New England to Hilton Head, SC.

I have been trying to map out the quickest route for us to take ....thinking of avoiding rt 95 because it will be July 4th weekend....and am having a very hard time doing this on google maps and aaa.

Am I doing something wrong? What is the easiest way to map a route if I know the roads we want to take?

For the past 3 years, I drove straight in 16-17 hours to central Florida including bio-breaks and meals (1,000 miles each way). I usually rested well and leave 6-7pm on Sat and arrive in central Florida 11-12noon.

Thanks! I am actually trying to avoid 95 this time. Having a very hard time filling in the route we think we want to take on AAA and google maps. Is there another site I could use or am I doing something wrong?

Seems like every time I put in a road, it has me going on detours all over the place and then picking up the same highway again instead of just staying on that highway.

It's probably me!!

If you are a member of AAA you can call and get a trip tik tell them you want to go down 81. Also if you do mapquest you can move the route from 95 over to 81. you click on the route and drag over.
