You know the sayings...the ones meant to make you feel better? LOL
Which ones would you like to prove wrong?

For me I'd like to make a liar out of everyone who says "Money can't buy happiness" or "money isn't everything."

I think they're dead wrong. Oh the happiness I could buy with money!!!

Happiness = DisneyWorld
DisneyWorld =$$$$

:lmao:

"Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me"

Oprah once said something like, "Maybe money can't buy happiness, but it sure is nice not to have to worry about how you're going to pay the bills each month."

I certainly would like to find out for myself if money can buy happiness. I just need someone to fund my experiment.

I have an intense dislike for, "God doesn't give you any more than you can bear/handle...."

I believe it's already been proven wrong many times. Who can count the number of people who have been broken by being burdened with one too many tragedies or heartbreaks? Just because you keep breathing doesn't mean you are "handling" it.....You're just carrying on with an involuntary response. Merely NOT dropping dead does NOT mean you are bearing what life has handed you.

I think it's a silly saying meant to make people see light at the end of the tunnel when in fact, sometimes the "light" is a train headed their way. :headache:

:lmao:I'm not as depressed as this post sounds.....:rotfl: I just cannot emphasize enough how much I loathe that saying.

"Everything happens for a reason." Ugh, I hate that saying. No, sometimes stuff just happens, for no reason whatsoever. :rotfl:

"You can't teach an old dog new tricks!"

I'm an old "dog" who learns new tricks every day. ;)

I don't like that saying either. To me it says if you can handle tough times you keep getting them but those who aren't as strong get off easier.

I live by this one. It's the only way I can handle it when things don't go the way I want, lol!

"Money can't buy happiness" or "money isn't everything."

I would love to prove this wrong, but from the people I know in that situation, it has been true. I work for a very wealthy family and though I don't want to go into detail but I do NOT want the wealth they have if it means having the life they have. Much of their woes have been brought on by the money.

If you don't stand for something you'll will fall for anything.

I hate when people say this like say on a post or an argument. It seems like if you are on the other side people are saying your a fool and will fall for anything or have no morales.

My dad always says "Money may not buy happiness, but I could choose my own misery."

My co-worker said yesterday "Money is the root of all evil."

And I said , no, sociopaths are the root of all evil.

I have to admit that I'm really tired of the "everything happens for a reason" line, too. Or also that "it's God's will" or any type saying.

I always smile and accept the sentiment, because I know it's meant well, but it drives me nuts. I don't believe in God and I don't buy that things happen for a reason. I think things just happen. I don't think there's a reason my mother is dying of cancer, I don't believe there's a greater good in it, and I don't believe there's a cause and effect relationship either. I believe most of what happens is random.

Two wrongs do not make a right. Sometimes though it just feels as if they may.

I proved that one wrong over Christmas. DS forgot to lock the house when he left (even though I'd left him the key, since he'd be the last one out). Then I forgot that I'd given DS my house key so when I came home from grocery shopping, he'd left so I didn't think I could get into the house. Because of our two wrongs, I walked into the house, and the key was right where I'd given it to him-in the middle of the kitchen table.

Lots of similar thoughts, won't go on a tangent, but it would get too long and too detailed and far too into hating my stepdad's religion, but know...I'm right there with ya.

Any expression that is used to stifle debate.

Like..."we'll have to agree to disagree". AUGH. Hate that one. No, sorry, I will never agree to that, dagnabit!

On a lighter note, I LOVE to mess with the "it was in the last place I looked" comment.

Well yeah, obviously, most people aren't going to continue to look once they find something, so it's by default that it's the "last place you look".

So sometimes...I keep looking, just so it was NOT in the last place I looked. :rotfl:

And...I'll do this while alone sometimes...just a little HA that no one necessarily even knows about (until now).

Good one! BTW, I HATE it when people get this quote wrong. Money is not the root of all evil, the saying goes: "The LOVE of money is the root of all evil." I believe it's in the bible.

I also hate the "two wrongs dont make a right" saying too. If somebody does something to me that I think deserves a little something in return then my husband throws that up at me.

I also dont like the "God wont give you more than you can handle" line either. Im a believer in God but I just simply dont believe that line. To many suicides of people who couldnt handle it anymore.
