What saying would you like to prove wrong?

I would LOVE the chance to disprove "money can't buy you happiness!"

Just hand me a check for a million dollars and watch how happy it makes me! :cool1:

Well, you may never disprove it personally, but it has been disproven.

From Science Today: Most people would agree that, up to point, money brings happiness. But researcher Ariel Malka of the University of California, Berkeley's Institute for Personality and Social Research has found that once enough money has been earned to meet the basic needs, money in relation to happiness is a very personal equation.

After your basic needs are met it gets more complicated. But money really does buy happiness. So there people who say this!

i hate the statement, "good things come to those who wait."

no, no they don't. they come to those who will work hard for what they want.

I have an intense dislike for, "God doesn't give you any more than you can bear/handle...."

I believe it's already been proven wrong many times. Who can count the number of people who have been broken by being burdened with one too many tragedies or heartbreaks? Just because you keep breathing doesn't mean you are "handling" it.....You're just carrying on with an involuntary response. Merely NOT dropping dead does NOT mean you are bearing what life has handed you.

I think it's a silly saying meant to make people see light at the end of the tunnel when in fact, sometimes the "light" is a train headed their way. :headache:

:lmao:I'm not as depressed as this post sounds.....:rotfl: I just cannot emphasize enough how much I loathe that saying.

I believe in this theory 100%, though I do have a major problem with it. God will never give you more than you can handle because let's face facts, if it happens, you really don't have a choice, you have to handle it whether you want to or not.

I dislike any saying having to do with *Karma.*

I do not believe in Karma. Karma was invented to make people feel better about crap that other people do to them.

What goes around rarely comes around.

He'll never get his in the end.

If Karma truly existed and bit people in the butt, you'd have tons of buttless wonders roaming around.

When a door closes a window opens. We used to joke that our windows must be nailed shut.

Stick and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.

I know for a fact that this is 100% untrue...

One locally to here is that it is "too cold to snow" - easily proves wrong - look at the South Pole

Don't know why but it really gets on my nerves

Well...the concept of karma is often misused, but that's not what it's all about. To truly believe in it, you do have to believe in reincarnation. I will admit I've used the term "insta-karma" when things immediately come back to me/someone, but that's not what it is.

Thinking that some dude who was rotten to you will get his comeuppance soon is an easy way of thinking of karma...but the reality is, probably, you came across that dude in order to work out some stuff from your past (recent or ancient), and he's working his own stuff out and will continue to do so in various ways.

It's way more complicated (and simple, at the same time), and has a longer view, than what, oh, people on message boards who come up with sayings like "karma is a witch", make it seem like.

I disagree;):)

Well, I don't agree to that. ;)

I also dont like the "God wont give you more than you can handle" line either. Im a believer in God but I just simply dont believe that line. To many suicides of people who couldnt handle it anymore.

Exactly. That would have to be my choice too.

"It is what it is"

I think it is just and excuse for bad behavior, or to wallow in your own misery.
