Everyone thinks we're Catholic because of our last name.
We're a family of Italian-American Presbyterians.;)

I'm United Methodist, but -like others who have posted -don't place primary epmphasis on the denominational identity. Denominations can become dying institutions that actually retard the work of the church.

Other- Episcopalian.

Though I am a "follower", I do question the faith plenty of times though.

Hey, I grew up in a family of Italian-American Presbyterians! :thumbsup2

I am first and foremost a follower of Christ. I attend (and work for) a Covenant Church.

First and foremost, I am a Christian. I truly believe that Jesus is my Lord and Savior. I believe that the Bible is the Word of God. I was born and raised an Episcopalian. I love that church, but recent events have alientated me and my family. We now belong to the Lutheran church Missouri Synod because that gels with our beliefs. I will say that if a conservative Anglican parish comes into my neck of the woods, I'll be interested. But the most important thing is that I follow Christ. That makes my life whole.

That's the begining of the most used jewish prayer..One recites this twice daily ,and in other instances , such as imminent death...Jews went to the gas chambers reciting the Sh'ma

Growing up I went to the Protestant Church with Mom and the Catholic Church with Dad (often on the same day :lmao: ) They were married in the Protestant Church but Dad liked the Catholic Church just because of the traditions from his childhood. After Dad died we attended a Lutheran Church because Mom's new husband was very involved there. After Mom's new husband left her they basically sent us a letter saying don't come back. Mom had done adult confirmation there, as had I. My brother followed the regular confirmation path there and my other brother was currently undergoing it, so we were pretty involved. That letter kind of soured all of us on organized religion for a while. My brothers still don't attend church. Mom eventually went back to the Protestant Church of my childhood, and I followed her back for a brief period. All my kids were baptized there. A few years ago DH and I did the RCIA process and converted to Catholicism. It's not perfect but I like it. I think part of what I like is the connection to my Dad. Funny enough we would up back at the church that he used to take me to, and DD attends the attached school. That wasn't done on purpose but we were sitting in mass one day and it just kind of hit me why I always felt so comfy there. :goodvibes The strange thing is that while we profess Catholicism as our religion, I also feel an attachment to Buddhism (which was missing from the poll, btw).

Ultimately I believe that all religions are really trying to accomplish the same thing, just with different names and rituals. I also really enjoy studying about different religions. I find it fascinating. I'm really hoping that a Mormon temple opens nearby at some point because I'd like to go in and see one during the period of time where they let the community tour (I guess this doesn't happen at an established temple, just new construction)

Thank you for sharing. That's really beautiful, and I imagine that reciting it evokes a lot of powerful emotions given some of the history that it's attached to

I'm Christian/Lutheran...I belong to a WELS (Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod) church.

Baptised @ 2 weeks old into Catholicism. Went to Catholic schools as a kid until my JR year in HS...then went "Public":scared1:
;)

Been MANY years since I step into a church for other than a wedding, christening or funeral.

I tend to keep many of my Catholic upbringing beliefs. I try to live by the Golden rule & 10 commandments. Just not "big" on organized religion here. :confused3

I love that prayer. Someday I want to learn the Hebrew pronunciation. Do you think G-d will mind if this Catholic says the Sh'ma?

Another "none of the above";) Right now I am in limbo.

I was raised Catholic and I have finally put my foot down with myself and am no longer Catholic.
I do not agree with too many things in the Catholic religion.

United Methodist. Bible based beliefs. Personal relationship Jesus Christ.
