What pin themes do you collect?

I've never traded, although it looks fun to do. I get a bit obsessive about collecting, so I had to draw the line at approaching CM's!!! I would also be mega paniced about losing pins off the lanyard! I'm already the familiy's designated pack pony, so you know I don'treally need the extra stuff to cary!!

I do buy pins though. Usually ones that are connected to what I have seen or done. Pins for hotels I have stayed at or visited for meals, special events like the Star Wars weekends and Food & Wine fesitvals. Also one for each of the parks I have visited that trip. There are so many pins to choose from it really does help to narrow it down a little!! I'm thinking this trip I might collect the Epcot country pins, seeing as we only have time for there and MK. I personally think they are on the pricey side, I think if they were a few dollars less (maybe $3) I might buy more. I guess that's why the actual pin trading is so big, as you are just swapping, no cash involved.

Well I just got into pin collecting this year, since my boyfriend decided he wanted to do it about a month before we left. His main theme is Halloween, since it's his favorite holiday because it's his birthday. He likes a lot of Limited edition ones too.

My dad only has a couple of pins that he wears on his hats, but pretty much the only ones he looks for our Pluto pins.

And I pretty much just buy pins that I like, I don't have a specific theme. Although I do love buying all of the annual pass, DVC, and Visa card pins. It makes me seem like a real Disney freak, because I never had any of those 3 last time I went to Disney! :teeth:

Hi All!

Big time "lurker" here!! Love all the posts, great info!!

Anyway, my collection is of americana, USA and Texas pins. Everything is red, white and blue. I have a few others not of of that theme. Great fun to collect!!

90 days till Disney at POFQ
MVMCP - Dec 1st

2004 - Onsite - FOFQ - (First time to Disney at 36 yrs old, I'm HOOKED!!)

We make sure we have the fab 5, and flags of the countries that our ancestors come from.

Being a fireighter, I like the ones that deal with firefighting.

I also like to get ones that respent favorite rides.

DW likes to get ones from Epcot. Me I like to get ones that look really cool. I love my Grumpy hockey one, and my Mickey and Minnie holding hands that spins around all 4 parks. We try to get a pin from each resort. We never did get a CB resort pin, but since we are going back...might as well...

My ds and I collect Lilo&Stitch pins! We challenge each other to find the most unique one each trip! :rotfl:

I finally have my collection big enough where I can start trading but now I don't think I want to trade. All of my pins are from resorts I have stayed in and all of the big events in my life.

The only pins I am currently collecting right now are "Belle". My collection has gotten out of hand, so I had to put specifications on it. There are about 4 new Belle pins out there right now, so I plan to get them when I go to Food and Wine.

I collect villains. I have about a dozen to fifteen that I've collected over the last 5 years. :teeth:

DFi started picking up one pin each time we're in Disney. It has to either a) commemorate the time we were there (ie Christmas) b) a favorite character or c) both! It's really great to have them and the memories. :)

This is our first trip and also my first time to be trading. We have about 15 of them that we have got together in the last month or so. I have them on a lanyard ready to go. They are really for my ds2 to trade. I will wear the lanyard since it is too big for him but I will let him pick what he wants from other lanyards. I am so excited about trying this. I am sure it will be addicting. What I think we will be trading for are his faves, Mickey, Goofey, Donald, Pinocchio, Jiminy, Nemo, Hook, ect..

Anyways, quick question. How do I go about doing this? Since they are for his trading but I will be wearing the lanyard.. DO you just walk up to any CM and stare at their lanyard to see if they have one that you want? lol Are they required to accept any trade you offer or can they go back and fourth with you? Sorry, if that is a silly question but since we have never done it before I just do not want to go out there looking silly and not knowing what to do. :)

I buy and trade for Lilo & Stitch pins! I also like to get some Mickey and Minnie Mouse pins. When I am in Disney World in 7 more days, I am thinking I would like to pick up a pin of the resort I am staying at~ Beach Club Villas!!!!!!!

You may trade pins with any CM wearing a lanyard. Just tell them that you would like to see their pins. They are very used to being approached and will gladly let you look and trade. Anyone with green lanyards are specifically for kids. I was a bit apprehensive too, but after you have traded just once you will see how easy it is and how much FUN it is!

I mainly collect pins that have a meaning to me. A resort I have visited or stayed at. A particular ride or attraction that I really loved. This year I got the Soarin' one.

The only character pins I really collect are Mickey and Chip n Dale.

My daughters really got into pin trading this year. I had bought quite a few on Ebay for MY trading pleasure.....didn't even have a chance, they were trading left and right.

I guess I'll have to buy more on Ebay for next time.

My daughters do the pin trading. I do the pin collecting.
One daughter has pins of her favorite rides. The other one collects what fancies her.
For kids, buy them a lanyard pre-stocked with pins of a character they don't like so they will trade them away.

I am not a pin collector per se, but I am a pin trader! I have no interest in the value of pins or in collecting and saving them. However, I love the interaction with CMs and trading pins on vacation.
I'm exactly the same way. For some reason, I pick a new theme every trip! I usually end up trading away most of the pins I got on the last trip, which is OK, since otherwise I'd have a huge collection and nothing to trade! One time I wanted all resorts; this last time I was "in search of Eeyore" since DS was (ahem) Eeyore's "best friend" in Disneyland; one time I collected Cast Lanyard pins (still have many of those); attraction pins one time; christmas pins; Nemo pins. The key is a new theme every trip.

Can't use this as an excuse. Found the best invention related to pin collecting in January. They sell locking pin backs. You lock them with a little wrench that is supplied. You get a pack of them for about the price of a pin. I guess there are between 8 and 12 in the packs - I'm not really sure. They are definitely worth the money if you wear them on the lanyard!

I don't collect a theme, I just collect what I like.
