What phobias do you have?

Snakes are the only thing I'm truly phobic about. Other things wig me out a bit (heights, icky bugs, tight spaces, etc.) but I'm able to manage and work through those.

I just can't deal with snakes. No idea why--I've never had a bad experience with one. I can't look at pictures, see them in the zoo, and I avoid places where they're likely to be. Frankly, just talking about it has got me on edge a bit.

I'm torn over what to do about it. One the one hand, it doesn't really interfere with my life much. I just stick to biking on my neighborhood trails, pass on camping trips, change the channel when they're on TV, and wait outside of the reptile building while at the zoo. But on the other hand, it's an irrational fear and it seems like something "wrong" with me that I should work out. When I think ahead toward having kids I worry about passing it along to them, and also about not being strong for them. I dunno...

Those wind farm things are horrid, I agree.

I also cannot go underwater and look at the wave machine in my local swimming pool - even when it's off. Something about it frightens me.

OMG thank you so much I thought i was the only one who was creeped out by them.

Not really a phobia but I hate the sound of someone throwing up. Someone threw up in front of me in a restaurant and I nearly passed out.

The only thing I have the resembles a phobia is I freak out if I can't move my feet. If they are stuck in a blanket and I can't move them at all that is horrible for me. Exactly why I can't sleep in sleeping bags!

Spiders and vents/drains. When I was younger I used to have very long hair and I saw a show on TV where someone drowned because their hair got caught in the drain of a swimming pool and they couldn't get their hair out due to the suction. Ever since then I've had a horrible fear of drains/pool filters/vents. My DH says I need to be hypnotized to get over this fear  .

This is silly but I have a fear of open stairwells. I hate walking up or down them and being able to see the stair below me. I don't know why it stresses me out so much.

This reminds me of another fear I have. I'm afraid of being pronounced dead but really still being alive. In fact, I've told my family no embalming for me for this exact reason. :scared:

heights... which sorta ruins a LOT of things... rollercoasters, standing on the edge of a mountain, even crossing bridges, at times.

Birds! Birds freak me out, the thought of birds flying into my face or hair. I shiver just thinking about it.

Oh boy, we were in Puerto Rico ( San Juan ) and there was this area with maybe 10,000 pigoens ( could be more or less, but 10,000 wouldn't surprise me if it was right ). People feed them by hand. Some of them will even land on you. Well, sometimes they get scared and take off en masse.

I have a video of them fling right at my wife and I. I ducked my head and held the camera up. It was GROSS to me, but not really frightening.

Cats! I can't be in a room when they are walking around. The jumping motion scares me.

Any phobias?

I think I have a bit of a fear of open spaces. I like having mountains and trees around me and feel really uncomfortable in the plains or on tops of mountainsl.
Heights, heights, heights........and spiders

I have many but one of my weirdest is scratching noises in the dark!

OMG! Me too! Birds anywhere near me make me feel like I'm going to faint or throw up or both! I love Flame Tree B-B-Q at AK but can't eat it at the outdoor dining room because of the ducks walking around everywhere. I try to be rational and think, "Ok - it's just a duck! What can it possibly to do me?" but as soon as it gets near me I'm almost paralyzed with terror.

Bees, Wasps, Hornets....and drowning.
Though I have never been stung and love scubadiving. I just prefer having my air with me.
