What perk would you want to see added?

Oh so you could still arrange it at BAGS , but at a charge? I know a lot of people were upset when they discontinued the Magical Express service 😪
There was no charge, unless you were using an airline that charged for luggage, and you had to prepay that charge before dropping your bags, by making a phoner call and getting a code. I usually flew Southwest, so there was no baggage charge, only a skycap style tip. I did prepay when I flew Delta. You did not have to us ME to get the service at the resort to the Airport. You DID have to use ME, to get the free luggage delivery from the airport to your room. ME sent special tags to identify the luggage, if the tags didn't arrive prior to your trip, you needed to give your flight and claim check number to the CM that checked you into ME. ME also scanned your magic bands and automatically let the resort know you were arriving from the airport shortly. A CM at the resort would be standing by to let you know if your room was ready and to welcome you.

I find all the 'perks' conversation interesting. It ranges anywhere from things that are "Club 33" level to things that should be available to all guests! Since it's a timeshare, we're good with the meal/merch discounts, and the ability to buy Sorcerer Pass. We don't need too much more to add to the dues........

They can't add perks to our dues, the dues are for things related to maintaining the resort you own points at. The lounges etc are not part of the resorts. The budget for operating these items comes out of DVC's budget directly.

You beat me to the punch.

Perks are just that, perks. They are designed as an incentive to help sell (more) points and in the interest of member retention. In order to sell more points. ;-)

We have never paid for anything even remotely related to a perk until the new pay-to-play was introduced last year. Do I expect them to move more of even the existing perks over to that platform? I'd be surprised if some of the existing ones didn't work their way over there, especially if they keep the price reasonable. Why pay for it out of DVD's potential profits if you can sucker the membership into helping foot the bill (I'm already guilty)?

The cost of perks is paid by Disney Vacation Development, the developer who builds and sells DVC resorts. The DVC condominium associations and the trust that CFW is part of are legally separate from DVD. As you say, we pay dues to the condo associations or trust, and our dues do not pay for the perks.

I mean we do pay for perks—it's just in the initial cost of the contract, not dues. That's why they've jacked direct pricing up so much.

I wish they would bring back the DVC discount on the Gold/Incredipass and offer a Disneyland annual pass discount.

The best thing they've done is standardize the food and merchandise discounts. They used to be all over the place. Maybe we'll see some more perks come with next year's Membership Beyond.

I have two that come to mind. I really wish we could opt out of the daily security room checks!! I cannot stand being interrupted, it's such an invasion of privacy, drives me right up the wall to get that knock on the door. Second, bring back the ability to check in to the airport on day of discharge and get rid of our luggage. I SO miss that perk.
YES!! I think the airport and baggage check in may be the perk that I miss the most.

I totally agree with you on the security checks. One of the reasons we vacation is of course to relax. We work hard and enjoy savoring as much time as we can in these beautiful rooms including the occasional nap. Being interrupted by the phone constantly ringing or knocking on the door when they want to come in irritates me to no end. If they want to snoop around they should provide mousekeeping, then at least it would be worth it for me to let them in.
Agree! I am a very bad sleeper and DH and I rope drop more often than not, so we rely on our afternoon naps to keep us going. It irritates me no end to be woken up by the phone ringing or the knocking after I have just fallen asleep because there is no way I will fall back to sleep again. Maybe they could ask at check-in whether we prefer morning or afternoon checks. We are never in the room in the am but spend a lot of our afternoons there.

Understood. But some of the suggestions here would cost money - so I suppose that's why they'll never be perks!!

Many of the ideas here, even when they existed, were also a Disney thing and not a DVC perk.

So, that adds a layer to it being less likely for DVD to be able to even get those other divisions to agree to it become DVC exclusive.

Exact same. Super light sleeper, i am lucky if I actually fall asleep for the nap I want to take. They did tell me the last time they woke me up that I can let them know and they can schedule when someone is going to come. I'm just like come on in and get it over with already lol

Let's think about that for just a minute. Let's let them schedule a 'security check' so we can see if anything nefarious is going on. Yeah. That's a great plan.

There was a thread all about this when it started happening, so I won't re-hash it all here. I haven't changed my stance from then, but I do think that the fact that they can come in for a moment on a moment's notice at any semi-reasonable time should be enough of a 'threat' to ward off any bad actors. Randomize it and do 10% of the units every day. Save labor and cut costs. We all know who's paying for this, right? But to come in EVERY day at PRIME vacation nap time is RIDICULOUS. People 20 years ago would not have stood for this kind of invasion of privacy during their vacations.

I thought the Samee thing that's why I questioned what it was really for because if someone was planning something crazy they would obviously move their stuff and schedule the security check for after 🤣🤣 But maybe they don't really care and have to do it for insurance purposes as someone else stated. I tend to think it's more because they want to see how many people are in the room for their fire code rule, but I could be wrong. I like the idea of the randomized checks so we don't have to deal with them barging in every day. My niece told me that she didn't respond when they knocked and they just came in while she was changing 🤣🤣 i told her she should have responded, but well she's a teenager 🤷‍♀️

You didn't need to be using DME to have do the resort airline check in when leaving WDW. That was what made it so nice! We always had a rental car.
I was referring to the luggage transfer but I do stand corrected on that. But yes, the check-in was so nice for everyone.

Yes, luggage worked as well and it was nice doing it all and walking right through security. My understanding though the company that had the contract with TSA to do it no longer exists or isn’t the same as it was.

Yes, but 20 years ago we didn;t have planes purposefully crashing into buidlings or snipers taking out crowds at a concert from a hotel room, nor did we even have the family fight drama in the parks.

9/11 was 24 years ago. There have always been bad actors and there always will be. The world is full of mean people. That's not new either. The concept of trading freedom for illusion of security is not new. I will choose to leave it at that.

It’s about liability and protecting them too. We have been lucky because never had them come during afternoons when we are there. Always came during morning hours when we were gone and I make sure I remove our sign when leaving so they know it’s empty.

But I get it’s bothersome for some guests
