What % of people dress up for Pirate's Night?

We leave Friday for our first cruise on the Dream. We have a Pirate's Night, and I was not planning on dressing anyone up (kids are 9 and 11, and my parents are going as well). It is too late to throw together any full costumes, but I could probably get some bandannas and eye patches or something. Just wondering if we will be uncomfortable if we are not dressed up in full costumes or not dressed up as pirates at all?

It's completely up to you, I would say 20% dress up completely, some really go all out...for each of our cruises, the stateroom host left us a pirate bandanna..plus there are always some things available in the ship store, for a fee of course...

We always have dressed DD up and DH and I just in pirate tshirts. Last trip we had tshirts made with Mickey pirates and our names. This trip I don't think we will I will check out the Halloween costumes and maybe get DD something. I just like the photos, we got a great one with pirate Mickey with our whole family (my parents as well) all in our shirts. You could go either way no matter what you'll fit in

Ok, great to hear. I didn't want my kids to feel completely left out because mom didn't pack them a full-on costume!! I think we will go with some accessories and call it good for this first cruise. If we survive/thrive on this cruise and decide to go again, we may try to fully dress up. Thanks for the quick replies and reassurances!

A local party supply store usually has a pirate section for a few last minute ideas...

DCL gives out bandanas on each cruise, either in the staterooms, or in the dining room. Ours were too small for adult heads, but they were fine for the kids. DH and I bought pirate Mickey shirts in the ship's gift shop, and that was the extent of our participation.

Many wear just eye patches and bandanas. Some go all out. Lots of people don't wear costumes at all.

I would say easily about 75% do to some degree. I just wore a pirate t-shirt and the bandana that they provide.

This was our experience too.

We did all home made costumes. White t-shirts- ripped/cut to look old (compas on chain around neck), black vest (from tuxedo for formal night). Black shorts and some fed ripped up fabric as a belt. A black dress, ripped red belt, plastic sword, big gold earrings. All complete with bandannas. I bought a "pirate kit" on Disney Store.com in advance.

I only noticed a few families that didn't have anything pirate related on. Most at least had their bandanas and some accessories. I saw a bunch of pirate tshirts. And I'd say about a quarter of people had full costumes.

Just FYI, I got some red and white fabric and cut it into a belt for my son and then just put him in black pants and a white tee shirt. He wore the disney provided bandana on his head. It was super easy and he looked surprisingly pirate-y (I have a dress with a pirate skull on it so I just wore that).

We'll be on that sailing too!

We are dressing up, but not everyone does.

Around 50 percent id say, 20 percent are like decked out. are you leaving friday or does the cruise leave friday? Is it the March 13, 2017 one? If so, were on the same one.

Thanks all! We are leaving on the Dream 3 night that leaves 3/10/17. We are nervous yet excited since none of us have ever cruised at all! Hopefully this is a great experience and will make us want to continue cruising, in addition to our other Disney experiences!
