What Not To Wear At Walt Disney World - Getting ready for the next one -Show on again

Ah yes. The private entrance to Epcot from the Beach Club area. It has totally spoiled me too. I know exactly what you mean. SO convenient.

Like your glowing neon drink policy! :thumbsup2

Great photos- I especially like the old time sepia toned ones and the Illuminations shots!

Thanks for another great update! I love all your sepia toned pics!!! Great Job!

We started at Spaceship Earth. Now that I knew all about the magical animated ending I fully intended to make some sort of crazy, clever face for the camera, but I forgot and just looked like a deer in headlights.
At least I didn’t look like this guy, who I was elated to find on a box in Mouse Gears. He was shilling some sort of violent toy for little boys called “Airzooka.” I took about 6 pictures of this box. Still feeling the effects of the kiwi-rum beverage, probably.

Heh, I bought this for my brother for Christmas last year, and he bought one each for me and my other brother. It's definitely interesting how far the air flows. The cats hate it though.

I love your sepia toned photos, what a great idea that I am going to have to steal from you when I visit the Boardwalk. :rotfl2: ;)

Your dinner looks delish!

Those frogs are freaking adorable, too bad they weren't for sale!

Enjoying your report.
Thank you!

crabcot! :lmao: at least it's better than what ray calls it: hellcot. we had a HORRIBLE day there the first time we went and the name just sort of stuck. he actually halfway likes it now though! but he still calls it that.

Oh no! I'm glad he's starting to like it. Epcot is such a magical place full of such magical frozen beverages. I've actually started calling it Crabcot too - I used to call it "Epicot" after I read a TR on these boards where someone's toddler-aged daughter kept calling it that.
When I worked there I used to refer to it as EpKot so I could pretend it stood for "Experimental Prototype Kelly of Tomorrow" :p

I love those frogs. I didn't notice them during our trip.

I though they were so neat! We probably would have noticed them except that we were walking verrrrry slowly towards the International Gateway after Illuminations ended and that window was all lit up.

Thanks! I could not get over how great it was to just walk over to Epcot. BC really spoiled me, I don't ever want to stay anywhere else now!

Good stuff!

Thank you! :teeth:

Thanks for another great update! I love all your sepia toned pics!!! Great Job!

Thanks! I was having fun messing with all the settings on Jack's fancy camera.

Heh, I bought this for my brother for Christmas last year, and he bought one each for me and my other brother. It's definitely interesting how far the air flows. The cats hate it though.

Jack has one at his house and I hate it! I hate getting shot at with anything (paintball, water guns, etc). Even if it's just air it freaks me out. I think my fear goes back to 8th grade when some jerky kid shot a rubber band at me and it hit me in the face :scared:

Kimonos was SO good. The frogs were cute - I have a similar looking turtle statue that sits on my desk at work. I'll have to try and take a picture of him.

Loved your updates--the sunset was beautiful on the Boardwalk that night! We are staying at the Dolphin next time (which won't be until 03/2010) and I can't wait to be that close to Epcot! We even switched to an amex card to build up Starwood points.

I don't think I got a picture of hubby's flowers on the back of his head; he came out of the men's room scrubbing his head with a wet paper towel as soon as we left the barber shop! Apparently, he had gotten laughed at in there.... .

Sorry I've been MIA but I have been keeping up somewhat just not posting....and just got up to speed now. You have such a great TR! Really enjoying reading :thumbsup2

Funny that you said Jack would have preferred the WL and she would the BC. Oh well can't please everyone huh??

Too cool that he let you take him to BBB. My husband would kill me :rotfl:

We had to laugh when we saw the poolside bar – it was named after the very storm that had been threatening us that week!
DSC_0374.jpg

This is WAY funny!! I can't believe we didn't notice this sign since we were at the BC a few times! Dawn might remember it but I don't, and I'm pretty sure we don't have a picture of it!

I was feeling especially lovely this afternoon thanks to the weather channel
DSC_0353.jpg

Yep that was our weather!!

I had to start off with a ridiculously fruity drink from the menu – my general policy is that if it appears to glow neon, I’m drinkin’ it.
DSC_0398.jpg

I think it was some sort of kiwi beverage with my precious Malibu rum in it. We had a wonderful meal – shrimp and veggie tempura, coconut shrimp rolls, rice salmon rolls, boston rolls (which I apparently loved, because I drew a little heart next to it in my journal), and jalapeno rolls (for Jack…I’m a wimp). Here are some of the goods
DSC_0400.jpg

This looks AWESOME!!!!!! To bad hubby doesn't like sushi :sad2:. I just had another friend this past week tell me they went there and how good it was. Might be a must try anyway!

Thanks for keeping us entertained! You are moving along much faster with your TR than we are :headache:......it will get done.....it will get done.....it will get done!!!! :upsidedow

Enjoying all the updates, especially Jack's face at the BBB! Priceless!
ITA on the policy of neon drinks - I loved all the cocktails I had, but felt saddened at the lack of glowing ice cubes in some of them. I was forced to drink many more cocktails than I had initially planned to ensure I got a reasonable stock of the glow cubes. Small sacrifices.
Y&BC looks gorgeous, it's one of my fav hotels.

I am all over the neon drink thing.

This past trip I worked up the never to try the blue glowtini.

Oh, was it blue. :lmao:

Glad you had such a nice night in "Crabcot." ;)

holy monkey I'm behind on your trippie!

What a great sport your DBF was for being a 'cool dude!' :thumbsup2

I think your sepia attempted photo is great. I wish my camera had a setting like that!

Just wanted to come by and say that I am not dead, and I will be returning to finish this soon!! Work has been absolutely crazy the past 2 weeks - working 13 hr days and traveling all over the tri-state area. Plus I was away this weekend visiting my family in Buffalo for the holidays, and there was a fiasco with my airline tickets for that trip (long story short, my round trip ticket went from costing $350 to nearly $1000 :headache: That's a one hour flight, mind you!)

But next week...next week I am on vacation! :cool1: Spending some time with my family for Christmas, but a few days at home too, so I hope to finish this report by the new year! Watch this space :magnify:

The Swan & Dolphin were really lovely - definitely check out Kimonos, even if you don't like sushi they have wonderful cocktails! It was great being able to walk to Epcot - I love that there's a free bus service that takes you around WDW, but on this trip we found them to be s-l-o-w!

Sorry I've been MIA but I have been keeping up somewhat just not posting....and just got up to speed now. You have such a great TR! Really enjoying reading :thumbsup2

No worries, obviously I've been MIA too! In the past it's always been a struggle for me not to write an entire trip report in a week, and now it's taking me forever. I will finish before 2009, darnit! And I need to catch up on yours as well!

Too cool that he let you take him to BBB. My husband would kill me :rotfl:

I'm sure he only let me take him because he was clueless as to what was going on. I'll definitely never get away with it again!

This looks AWESOME!!!!!! To bad hubby doesn't like sushi :sad2:. I just had another friend this past week tell me they went there and how good it was. Might be a must try anyway!

Yes, even if he doesn't like sushi it's worth stopping by for cocktails! If he doesn't like the fish in the sushi, maybe you can convince him to try some of the vegetable rolls or tempura veggies.

I hang on to the glowing ice cubes we get at WDW and use them at home. They make even a plain glass of juice that much more festive!
Some of them are starting to burn out though, I'll have to stock up on some more next time as well :scratchin

The blue glowtini was pretty delightful! And it didn't turn my teeth blue, which is usually the drawback to ingesting bright blue foodstuffs.

I think your sepia attempted photo is great. I wish my camera had a setting like that!

I was having such fun playing with his camera. It had another setting on it that made everything bright and blue. I'm not sure I got any good pictures at WDW on that setting though.
No worries about being behind, I'm pretty behind on my TR too

It's good to hear that you're not dead.
Alive is a good place to be!

$1000 bucks an hour. Are you going on Air Force One or something???

When you get all caught up, stop by our new trip report.

Have a great holiday season with your friends and family!
And as far as I'm concerned, you can wear anything you want to!!!

Have a great holiday! Look forward to getting the next update on your TR. Hope santa is good to you....Ho! Ho! Ho! :santa:

On our very last full day at WDW, we got up and strolled over to Epcot. It took 5 minutes. I love the Beach Club.
DSC_0493.jpg

We were there right as they opened, and were walking in with quite a few people lugging huge cases of pins. Ah, today was the pin event! How did we know?

DSC_0495.jpg

DSC_0496.jpg

DSC_0498.jpg

It was a bit drizzly, and the rest of Epcot was pretty quiet.
DSC_0503.jpg

DSC_0504.jpg

So of course we beelined for Soarin’, which had no wait! Remarkable!
DSC_0512.jpg

And we got front row! Jack’s exact word for describing the joy that is Soarin’ was “Magtastical.” That’s a new one.
Our flight over California made us hungry so we went to check out Sunshine Seasons Food Fair.
DSC_0514.jpg

Jack had the adult breakfast platter, and I just went for something light – grapes and strawberries. With whipped cream.
Next we went to check out the Nemo ride.
DSC_0521.jpg

I don’t think Jack was blown away by it, but it was cute. I like the starfish at the end that talks to you – “Please take me with you! It’s a nice song, but they sing it over and over!” Heheheh.

Next we went to check out my loveable manatee friends, Lou and Boc. And lo and behold, they were not just drifting through the water today. They were being fed! Yay! The best time to catch the manatees is when they are chomping down on lettuce. They are so fun to watch.
DSC_0524.jpg

DSC_0526.jpg

DSC_0528.jpg

We must have heard Mr. Ray’s manatee jingle 300 times – I couldn’t get it out of my head for days. “Though they may be graceful when they are swimmin’, it’s hard to believe sailors thought they were women.” We checked out the other fishies in the area
DSC_0540.jpg

DSC_0539.jpg

DSC_0553.jpg

With that we were done with Future World! Ta-da! For now!

Coming up: We actually do get to the Garden Grill, promise

We stumbled into the World Showcase Mexico pavilion just in time to check out the musical stylings of Mariachi Cobre, who I do love dearly. I had fun getting a couple of pictures in here with fantastic blurriness! This makes them “arty”
DSC_0588.jpg

DSC_0589.jpg

We then rode the 3 Cabelleros ride, and according to my notes, “looked around for a poncho.” I’m not really sure why. I fell in love with a porcelain bird that I wanted to buy for my grandmother, but knew there was no way I could cram it into my suitcase at this point. I was trying not to think about how I was going to compact everything I had bought into a couple of suitcases and carry-ons.
And then as we started walking toward Norway, we ran into a delightful character! Yay, Mexico Donald!!
DSC_0610.jpg

Here he is asking me why Alice is on my t-shirt & bag instead of him
DSC_0602.jpg

DSC_0600.jpg

Next we were off to Maelstrom! Pretty much a walk-on, I think. We were sitting down in the third row when someone behind us tapped me on the shoulder – it was punkin413, aka Dawn! Memom had told me that she & Erica (Vandyfan10) would be at WDW the same time as us, so it was cool to run into another couple of DISers. After the ride we talked a bit while waiting in the little village outside the theater. I think they were getting ready to go to the Halloween party that night! We had to get going to our lunch ADR so we said goodbye – I wish I hadn’t forgot to take a picture :headache: I was just so surprised to meet some other DISers. Dawn & Erica were so friendly and it was nice to have a few minutes to talk to them. Hopefully we’ll run into them again someday! If you want to read about their adventures, their joint TR is here
We made it to Garden Grill in time, it was very busy but we didn’t have to wait at all.
DSC_0633.jpg

I was a bit anxious because my taste in food, as my taste in fashion, is somewhat hovering around the third grade….so I was really hoping that our waiter would be able to bring us macaroni & cheese even though it was only on the kid’s menu. He did, hooray!
DSC_0617.jpg

The mac n’ cheese actually wasn’t that great – it was pretty buttery. The chicken and steak were relatively good. There was also this remarkable piece of catfish that looked like a fried seahorse
DSC_0623.jpg

Overall the food here was edible but unimpressive, but we weren’t there for the food! I was excited to see my dear darling Chip
DSC_0620.jpg

Wow, I was looking pretty beat up and run down by day 7. Yikes. Please avert your attention to the adorable rodent on the right.
Next up was Mickey, who was kind enough to sign my grandmother’s card for Grandparents Day.
DSC_0624.jpg

Dale was next and was so much fun. He was so cuddly and tried to steal me away from Jack. We danced briefly down the aisle before realizing that Jack wasn’t paying any attention to us (in fact he was probably using the opportunity to steal bites of steak of my plate) so Dale returned me to him and went along his merry way.
DSC_0627.jpg

It was a fun meal, I really liked the rotating scenery. Apparently I was enamored with the baby buffalo in one of the scenes, because I wrote “Baby buffalo!!” in my notes.
Did I mention how sad I was that you can no longer send virtual postcards from Innoventions? I lamented this again, and then nearly stumbled into a pillar. I was exhausted. It was about 2pm, so we headed back to the Beach Club for a nap.
Next time I go to WDW for a week, I’m going to try and work in some more downtime. With both Jakkie & Jack being there, it felt like 2 separate vacations, so I kind of forgot that I would be there for 8 whole days and would need some rest at some point!
We headed back to the World Showcase. Fiesta margarita time!
IMG_5234.jpg

Now I had heard that the strongest margaritas could be found at the cantina, not the outdoor stand. But they only had lime, so in my quest to incorporate as many hues as possible into my beverage, I had to go to the supposedly weaker vendor. It was still delightful!
We wandered through China, the outpost, Germany. In Italy we watched the World Showcase Players do Romeo and Edna. It was really funny – the people they plucked from the audience were hilarious!
IMG_5237.jpg

We checked out America, then spent a ton of time in Japan, which is probably my favorite pavilion. We bought candy for ourselves, some Christmas gifts for my mom & cousin, and various other assorted trinkets.
We checked out France
IMG_5248.jpg

And the British Invasion, though we didn’t watch them long. I love them but we had to get over to the camera center to pick up our free photo, and then get back to the Beach Club. Here’s a magical wall we passed on our way back to our hotel.
DSC_0640.jpg

It was dinner time, so we had to check out Beaches and Cream again. Gaze into my sleepy eyes…
DSC_0643.jpg

DSC_0649.jpg

It was pretty empty – it was getting late, and we were rushing through our meal yet again, as we had plans on Pleasure Island!
DSC_0650.jpg

Coming up: We say hello & goodbye to the AC!
