Are there fireworks at MK whenever the park is open until 9:00? The hours for January are out, and the park is open until 9:00 several nights, but I can't find any verification of whether or not there are fireworks and when. I want to make sure I choose a night that has fireworks, and since, as an AP holder, I have to make park reservations, I'd kind of like to know beforehand

The Disneyworld.com website has their calendar showing through January 25 and every day in January has fireworks at MK listed. I would have guessed that before checking. I think it is a safe bet they have fireworks every night, weather permitting. On days that the park closes early for day guests, those fireworks may be only for the special event guests, but I believe they still have them.

I don’t think I’ve ever been to MK when they DON’T have fireworks. Even on party nights, there are fireworks (although you would need to have a party ticket for those).

Floridas are nightly except 1) on a party night when they are only run for party guests 2) if the park closes super early (5/6pm ish) for buy outs 3) weather is extreme

This is exactly what I wanted-thanks! What I found interesting was that, although the park closes at 9:00, the fireworks are at 8:00, so you can try to hit up a ride or two after the fireworks. I'm pretty sure that years ago, the fireworks were held at closing time, like at Epcot, so that after the fireworks, you joined the mass exodus out of the park.

This ain't Disneyland, where they do it just on Fridays and Saturday. And even then if the wind kicks up, they cancel it. All my trips to WDW, I've never known a night where 2 or 3 parks weren't having fireworks/night show every night.

Another question. Since the fireworks are held an hour before the park closes, do many people position themselves where they can get to a favorite ride after the fireworks end? For example, say if someone wanted to get a last ride on Tiana, are they apt to watch the fireworks from Frontierland? Or might they watch the fireworks from Fantasyland so they can make a quick run over to 7DMT afterwards? Or are people mostly on Main Street and shopping afterwards?

The majority of people are in the hub and down Main Street as the projections are a large part of the show. Some view from other locations but with the understanding they won't see the projections and, trees/structures often become a challenge too.

Another thing I'm not sure about is if the music that accompanies the fireworks is played in other locations. I know last summer we watched HEA from beside Tron (as our VQ was next to be called) and it greatly changed the show for me as all I could hear was the Tron soundtrack that had nothing to do with the fireworks.

We watched from the walkway that runs along the water in Frontierland and it was a perfect spot. They don't dim the lights but it didn't matter. And no projections obviously but I am pretty sure the music was piped in. There were hardly any people back there too, it was wonderful!

Something to keep in mind here: The 9:00 pm closing time for MK is basically a placeholder. WDW generally always extends hours now closer to the actual date based on their crowd projections. You can probably safely bet that closing time will be pushed back till at least 10:00, or more likely 11:00 pm, unless you are going on one of the least crowded, lowest of the low crowd days of the year.

Most guests head directly to the exits after the fireworks show ends.

It's been a couple of years since we did this, but we did find the attraction waits to be very short over that last hour and a half of operation. During that time, we rode Pooh, Big Thunder, Splash Mtn, the Carousel, 7 Dwarves (twice) and also met the Princesses (Cinderella and Snow White).

Pooh was the only one we had a reservation for. We could have done 7D one more time but opted for a little shopping instead.

I bet the bean counters would love for them to follow suit of DL. If it's went through my mind, it's went through theirs as well.
😒

DL has a lot more local guests may/may not choose to stay for fireworks. WDW has a lot more guests who arrive from a distance so do not have as many opportunities to see the fireworks.

Based on my experience a few times during party season (Aug-Dec), the parks are PACKED on non-party nights, because of the fireworks. I honestly don’t believe WDW could handle the crowds if they only offered fireworks only on weekends.

They have fireworks every night.

Wonder what gives then? I've read it's only on weekends too. I've never been so I don't know.
This is off topic but if you go to the Disneyland fireworks schedule right now, it’s every night. Maybe it wasn’t right after the post-covid reopening, I don’t know.
