Hi,
As I'm from Australia, I don't really know when the seasons are over there.
When is summer and what season will it be when we come in November? Will it be really hot? I'm unsure what clothes to bring, I've mainly been buying tshirts, but will I need a warmer top? Also, does it thunder and rain much in Nov? :sunny:

Summer is everyday in florida except the first week in February, when it seems to get rainy and cold :rotfl2:
Actually our "summer" starts in June and runs through September ( Hot and Humid!!! ) Being in Florida we dont subscribe to "Offical" Seasons as they all just seem to run together for us.We live in a beach community and it used to be that late november through march was "Tourist" season, now its like they never leave :rotfl2:
Actually in November the weather should be Nice for you, maybe a little warmer than your used to, but not as humid for us here.

Officially, summer starts on 6-21, and ends around the 3rd week of September. Then Fall kicks in. But those are just dates. For temperature, you can't go by the official season names here in Florida. It's hot starting in April, right through the end of October. In November, depending on what time of Nov you are going it should be very nice, but toward the end of November, if there is bad weather, it can get downright chilly. But NORMALLY, it's about 60-65 degrees in the evening, and 70's - low 80's during the day.

Three of our four trips have been in November.

We have experienced low humidity, cool mornings, warm days, cool evenings. Really beautiful weather for us! We might start out with a light sweatshirt in the morning, swim after lunch and bring a light sweater for evening plans.

We always wore shorts but we are from the north! We did get silly to see a worker at Epcot wearing a winter jacket, gloves and earmuffs when we had on shorts and sweatshirts! :goodvibes

Only one trip did it get kind of chilly. I think FLA set records with 40 degree temperatures during Thanksgiving week. Then I was wishing for a fleece!

Enjoy!

This all depends where in Florida you are. Sure the "official" seasons of spring, summer, fall, and winter are still "official" but depending on where you are, season names mean nothing.

Example: In northern Florida they get pretty cold in the winter, but this past year down here in South Florida I think we only got below freezing one night, maybe two.

Basically here's now it is............it's HOT from late Feb. - the end of October. From Feb. - March you can have a cool snap, but days regularly get in the 80's and the humidity grows up until August.

I personally don't think there is a "winter" down far south where I live, but more like "spring" and "summer" year around.

In Orlando at Disney it's normally (other than a snap here and there) hot from mid-late March through late August.

I live about 45 minutes to an hour away from Orlando, and in November it tends to be cooler in the morning and warms up (70'-80's) as the day goes on. In the evening when the sun goes down, it can get chilly. Granted, I think anything under 60 degrees is parka weather! :cold:

As far as raining, while it may rain, is isn't like the summer showers. Usually if it rains in Nov., there is a cold front coming through.

As some of the other posters have mentioned, Florida seasons aren't like true seasons - it usually warms up in April, and stays that way until November and sometimes December. January, February, and March tend to be cooler.

Hope that helps!

Technically, in the US, the first Day of Summer is June 21st with the first day of Autumn being August 21st.

We did visit in the winter, (December) and it did not feel like winter. It felt more like winter than it does here in Texas, but we could easily walk around in shorts in the afternoon in December. This was 2002.

Bytheblood got it pretty much right- except that the official start of Fall is SEPT. 21. But, in FL, the seasons official start and end dates don't mean much.

We were at WDW last November (2nd through 7th), and for most of the time we were there, the mornings were in the mid 60's. During the day, it got up into the low to mid 80's, and after the sun set, it fell back down to the mid 60's. Our last night there, a cold front passed through, and it got down to around the high 50's- it was a bit chilly that night. November is one of the lowest rainfall months in FL, so you should stay dry.

You should pack mostly shorts and T's, and bring one or two pairs of jeans, and a light sweatshirt or jacket for the colder mornings and evenings. Have a great trip!

Check out this link for some good weather info for Orlando

You will see for November:
AVG temp 67
AVG HI 77
AVG low 56
Record Hi 89
Record low 29

So you can see it can be a wide range of temps. We can usually get by in shorts and will layer a light shirt (for mid day) with a heavy shirt (for early morning) and maybe a light jacket (for late night). Overall I think November is one of our nicer months.

At least half the days in late November are warm enough to visit water parks. The early parts of November and December are "value" or lowest resort rate season. "Regular" rates are in late November .

*********

June, July, August, September -- Brutally hot. You can get by with no long sleeves and no long pants. (Except as sun protection.)

Regular resort rates run approximately late April through late August. Value rates usually begin last week of August, "Peak" rate occurs over Easter and "super peak" rates are in late December.

Aussiedaisy,

My DH is planning a trip to Australia soon. I don't hold it against him that he is not Disney obsessed like I tend to be!

What time of year would you suggest for travel in your country? What area do you live in?

Do you know how to PM (personal message) someone on the Boards? I don't want to take up too much Disney space on weather questions! :rotfl:

You will LOVE a November trip to WDW!

Thanks,
penny

We have found that the summer thunderstorm season is from June 1 to September 1. This year, you could see and feel an obvious difference on June 1. Last year didn't count. :) The year before, the rainy season seemed to end abruptly on September 1. It was really pretty odd.

We find Novermber to be one of the best months, weather-wise. Temperatures are warm, but not hot. Humidity is lower than summer, and the summer rain is pretty much done. It is the month we use to get our families to like Florida and be less unhappy with our decision to move here. :)
