It's of special interest to me as I used to holiday there - Salcombe, Devon, UK. It shows a window into the life as a Lifeboatman, all the sacrifices they make to save lives a sea, all balanced with daily life.

Well you got me. From the title I was imagining a discussion about the Alfred Hitchcock film of the same name!

I like those kind of “day in the life” shows. I liked the one called Airline about Easy Jet which was on many years ago, and then the US version about Southwest Airlines. There have been a lot of them showing different groups like firefighters, search and rescue, detectives and investigators. I find it all fascinating.

It's an old show but as I said, it has a special link to my past. Still worth watching. I remember when vacationing in Salcombe and hearing the maroons going off, then watching the lifeboat going up the estuary… gave me chills, wondering who needed help. Maybe it was a stricken yacht, maybe a boat on fire, maybe someone drowning… Remember, the crew of that lifeboat and others around the country are manned by volunteers. Not paid. They just drop everything and run to the lifeboat station. Amazing people really.
