What mischief will your Leprechan leave.....?

When the kids were little, we had a leprechaun visit our house at night, on or about St Patrick's Day. (Not knowing when to expect him was part of the fun!)

He would overturn chairs, tie shoes together, toss pillows, throw some flour onto the floor, just make a general mess. The best part--he would leave candy inside shoes, hats, gloves, etc. The kids loved it!

One time, a rope was tied onto some chairs--the kids were convinced that the little visitor had tried to rope the cat! :rotfl2:

I put green food coloring in the toilet bows (kids crack up over this one), tip over chairs, leave a treasure hunt with clues typed out on shamrocks.

I highly recommend starting the day off with Mint Bailey's in your coffee like a true Irishman should. I love St. Patrick's Day because everyone is happy and eating and drinking. My kind of holiday!:cloud9:

Wow! I love the food coloring in the toilet idea but does it stain???

I love St. Patrick's Day -- and it's not just because it's my son's birthday :thumbsup2 Printed up the invites today for our annual St. Patrick's Day party (to which we tack on the little guys birthday)

I have 3 white toilets in my house and none of them has ever been stained from the green food coloring. It's usually gone after the first flush or two. So remember not to flush after you put it in until the kiddos see it.

I work at a day care, and we do some crazy stuff for st. patty's day as well! I would have to say the biggest hit was footprints on the floor!....Put your hands in a fist and dip in green paint. Then press them on the floor and use your pointer finger to make the toes :) Looks very cute, and you can make it a trail somewhere leaving it to some kind of chocolate gold coins or whatever you want! WARNING though, the paint was not easy to get off! I got stuck saying at work late scrubbing the prints off the floor with bleach. YUCK-Not fun. But if you are prepared for it, and maybe mix the paint with water, it might not be that bad. We also had LOTS of green and gold glitter everywhere.

Anything you do will be lots of fun, and the kids will love. Just be prepared because no matter what you do there will be some kind of mess with leperchauns causing mischief! ;)

Happy St. Patty's Day!! :cutie:

LOL! My DGD made leprechaun traps and she was certain she would catch one. WE got that green and gold confetti and scattered it from the firepplace throughout teh greatroom. The Pesky Leprechaun tossed my Easter linens off of the table and replaced them with St Patrick's day tablecloth and table decoration. He also left hair bows, lucky coins, a hat etc. Kady was positive the pest was under the porch and saw teh confetti there ( she is a Pixie DUst Girl) so she was sure after that. That stuff was all over so she followed trails for days. It was a blast! He left something in her trap just so let her know he was smarter than her :lmao:

Why have I never heard of such a thing?!?! This sounds like so much fun!! Would it be weird to start with my daughter being nine? Oh heck, I'd probably just do it to amuse myself!!!! I think I'll have to wikipedia this, but thanks for teaching me something new!

I just told my mom about this and she was just as suprised as you were! She asked me if it was just an Irish tradition or something, haha. Now that I know about it I plan on doing it for my kids one day...(a while awayyy)
