What makes you feel old?

When I see old people... only to find out they are actually younger than I am.
Seeing how old my classmates look.
Knowing people that are my age and younger are grandparents.
Aches and pains.

My daughter turned 21 this year. She ordered a drink when we went out to dinner a few weeks ago. It hit me hard. She’s of legal age for everything now. That made me feel old.

And what makes me feel older yet is the realization that as I sat here, I *for real* couldn't remember how old I was. I just had that internal conversation - "I'm 42. Wait, no...I'm 41. Am I 41? DH just turned 43, so yes, I must be 41. 2017-1976....yes. 41. Wow, I seriously thought I was 42 a minute ago. Man, I am getting older by the second just from having this conversation in my head!"

When I realize that I am old enough to say that some of my memories are a lifetime ago

My dd just bought some scrunchies! She is 19 and my baby. She asked me, "Mom, did you wear scrunchies?" Why yes, yes I did. I am 46 and I feel old daily. My gray hair that I try to hide, my aching back when I lay too long in bed, my forgetful mind....all indicators I am old! The only good thing is i am chubby too and that pulls the wrinkles out of my face so my face at least looks young LOL!!!!!!!!!!

I can SO relate! What makes me feel old is losing weight. I lost almost 100 pounds last year, and while I feel so much better and am so much healthier, I look older. My neck skin is loose and my face shows the wrinkles. I always said chubby girls age better, and I was right! Now I really look my age, not the 15-20 years younger that people always used to guess.

Another thing that makes me feel old is when I see pro basketball and pro football players retiring and realize that I remember them from watching them play college ball.

it will get better, give it a year. I lost 97 pounds in 2015 and it took until late 2017 until everything started to firm back up. Congrats on the weight loss! I know how real the struggle is.
