What location should I request at SSR?

Hi all!

We're renting for the first time at SSR sight unseen. Should I ask the owner to request a specific location at the resort? It's just hubbie and me, so we were thinking Congress Park for the quiet pool. We'll also have a rental car, so buses are not an issue.

Any other suggestions? Any locations to avoid? Anything near an elevator for the noise or something like that?

Thanks!
Cara

If you don't care about being close to the main area, Congress Park is fine.

Does a couple without kids care about being close to the main area? We do like some action...

Never even set foot on the property, so we're flying blind.

When my husband and I go by ourselves, we request either Congress Park or Paddock (across the road from Congress Park). These sections share a very nice quiet pool, have a closer walk to DTD and it's about a 5 minute walk to the main area. We walk to/from the main area at least once a day, if not more, and have never thought "I wish we were staying closer". Many of the rooms in Congress Park have views of DTD but we have found that we like Paddock just as well because it's a bit quieter.

We have also stayed in Springs and Grandstand which are closer to the main area and quite a bit noisier. Nothing wrong with those areas; it's just we spend a lot of time on our balcony and prefer to have peace and quiet.

Each building only has one elevator area in the middle and the rooms spread out into exterior hallways from there. There are few, if any, rooms really close to an elevator so that has never been a problem. We always take the stairs at the ends of the building regardless of what floor we are on.

We have not stayed in Carousel so I can't comment on that section.

I would definitely request Congress Park. If you're lucky, you might get a room with a view of Downtown Disney, which is really nice at night with all the lights. Plus, it's just short walk to DD and not too far from the main pool and building. Or you can hop on any theme park bus and the next stop is the main building.

Remember though, the owner can only make a request, you will not be guaranteed any section within SSR.

I went with my future hubby....requested Congress park. Got it, and LOVED It.

We were steps away from the quiet pool

We also had an amazing view of DTD.

From the front, we could see Fultons crabhouse, from our balcony, we could see & hear the hot air balloon.

At night, it looked beautiful.
Very romantic, in my opinion!

I would agree with the previous posters that suggested Congress Park. My wife and I loved the view from our balcony of Downtown Disney at night, and REALLY loved being so close to DD that we could walk over to it whenever we wanted. It was a great stay. Have fun!

We prefer the Springs. Close to the bus stop which also happens to be the first bus stop in the resort so you are sure to get a seat on the bus, close to the main pool, close the large laundry room-which is important if you are staying in a studio.

I'm not sure it matters. We have stayed in the Paddock area as well as The Springs & Congress Park. All are fine.

Another vote for Congress Park, due to proximity to DTD. An easy walk. Yes, you'll have a car, but I've seen all the DTD lots marked as "full," on occasion.
