It seems that I recently started spending alot more than I used to. I have gotten very lazy with my coupons. I am averaging about $150.00 a week. When I have one or more of the kids with me, I find myself rushing thru the aisles and not even checking prices. I just need to get out. ;)

What about you?

There are 5 of us and I probably spend 150-175 a week. Some things are household items. I shop at a Wal-Mart Super Center. I save a lot of money. Just pop tarts are .50 cents cheaper than my neighborhood store. I know a lot of Disers hate Wal-Mart but it helps me be a SAHM.

I have been seeing a notable rise in the amounts I am spending too - but I try and stick to $100 per week and try and go below that as often as possible. It is just three of us.

We are at about $100 a week, sometimes less. I include diapers, cleaners, pet food, etc. in my grocery budget though. I know some people put those things in a separate budget.

I got out of there with $56 spent a few weeks ago and got quite a bit so it just depends. If I'm in between the expensive things, it isn't too much.

I am curious about this as well. I spend $60 per week for just the two of us, then usually end up about another $20 for picking up extra stuff we need. I would love to keep it JUST at $60, but there is always extra things that I pick up later in the week.

I wish I could spend that much w/out an argument from DH! We have 3 kids + my sister's 2 kids usually eat all but dinner at our house too. That's a lot of people to feed!
DH is from Mexico and sometimes I think he forgets that he's not there anymore! He is shocked if I spend more than about $70. Helloooo.......
I try to be as cheap as I can but realistically I need to spend at least $150 if not $200/week.
MEN!

There are 4 of us and I average about $150 per week. We usually eat out 1 or 2 meals so it would be more if I planned for those too. It does seem like prices have gone up lately.

I spend approximately $60 per week. There are 3 of us, plus 3 cats. I buy in bulk often and buy reduced meats and freeze them for future use. Plus, I have a fairly set menu, which enables me to stock up on items used for those menus when they go on sale. Still, I'd like to get my budget down even less. Oh, and this does NOT include school lunches.

HI Mootoo! :wave2:

I spend about $125 per week. Sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less....I shop Sam's Club (or sometimes Costco) every other week & I shop a regular grocery store on the "off" week, as well as the produce market (for all my fresh veggies & fruit & lunchmeats) weekly.

There are 4 of us & we're big eaters!

We spend about $100 weekly on food but that doesnt include meat. I try to buy extra when its on sale.

I'd say I'm at least $200 a week. There are 4 of us and I buy tons of fresh fruits and veggies. Let me tell you, buying healthy costs!

This amount does not include when I shop at Costco. We also go out about 2 times a week as well.

I make lunch each day for my 2 daughters and husband so that adds up as well. My husband is a carpenter so I pack at least 2 bottled waters with a few cans of soda each day.

Just think how rich we would all be if we didn't have to eat;)

Interesting thread...

Unfortunately, my weekly grocery bill is between $200 and $250 a week and that's down from last summer when I just decided to be a little more 'smart' with my groceries! We are a family of 5 and big eaters, but I don't buy cookies, or convenience foods. We only eat out maybe once a week if that. Just alot of fruit, vegetables and staples I guess...

WOW. Just for me, one person - I eat in about 2 nights a week, eat out about 5 - plus lunches here at work - I spend about $30 a day on food. SO I'm spending about $210/week just on that. How crazy. Can't wait to move back to the burbs, have a family and live like a normal person!

$200 for the 4 of us. We shop mostly at Whole Foods, which cost more, but the food is good. :)

I spend 100.00 a week sometimes less for 6 of us, I plan each meal out and stick to my list.

Budget? I'm supposed to have a budget???? :earseek:

Depending on the week, it averages $125-$150 a week for 4 of us, and that includes food I send over to the babysitter's house for the week.

For two adults who don't eat much, usually about $50. But when we need to add in things like shampoo and other odds and ends at the grocery store , it can go up to $100.

But just for food, we eat cheap and we both eat light, so usually $50-$60

Wow! I'd love to see a sample menu! Six people on $100?!
Good for you! Wish it was so easy for me.

I spend about $75/week for four of us, but that's at the base commissary. I use coupons, and I use very few prepared foods - the vast majority of our meals are from scratch. When there is a staple item with a good sale, I spend more because I stock up. For example, I bought 60 pounds of flour right before Thanksgiving because it was less than half the regular price and there were coupons to boot. I ended up getting it for $.49/5 lb bag. I do the same with anything else that we use a lot, so those weeks, the bill goes up.

We spend between $100-120 per week for the 5 of us. That total includes delivery charge and tip for the Peapod driver. Since I started using Peapod last April , Our weekly grocery bill has gone down because I shop right from my list and since I am not walking thru the store seeing and smelling the products I no longer make impulse purchases.
