What is YOUR "horrible moment turned wonderful"?

LMAO! i would do the same thing! i think we are related. thanks for the smile today

When my oldest was 3, it was her first trip. My parents took us on an all expense paid trip to Disney as a nursing school graduation present. I was a single mom. We were staying at "Dixie Landing" (called that at the time) She got soooo sick one night and threw up all over the place. It was about 2 or 3 am. I called down to housekeeping to ask if they could please bring me some sheets.

They came and they refused to allow me to do the bed. I felt horrible, because who wants to clean up someone elses puke in the middle of the night, right? So they clean EVERYTHING and change the bed and put her little dolls on the bed for her. They were soooo nice about it.

Next day, the poor child has a high fever and is sick so she's stuck in the room all day. I went down to the gift shop and asked the guy where to find children's tylenol. I go to the counter with the Tylenol and a stuffed Minnie (I was a single mom and really couldn't afford this minnie, but they didn't know it and I just wanted to get something to cheer up dd)

So he rings up the Tylenol and I said "oh, this too" He said "the minnie mouse is a gift from us to your daughter. Can we gift wrap it for her?"

Then he gets out this big mickey box and couldn't find bright tissue paper. Catch this..he says "do you think she'll mind white tissue paper??"

I looked at him with tears in my eyes, I was so happy. I said "dude, she'll be thrilled with just a box with nothing in it!" LOL The box was soooo cool!

So I got back to the room with this big bright Disney box and a beautiful plush Minnie Mouse doll and my little dd's eyes just bulged wide open.

I'll never ever forget that man. I can still envision his face. Ok..where are my tissues...

I LOVE IT1 Tears in my eyes

I was walking along the Frontierland area when one of my pins that I had bought (I was in eighth grade) fell off. I searched and searched for it, and then eventually my parents decided to go to the Town Hall and see if anything had been found there.

Well, we got to the town hall, and I was really upset (because I had used my own money to buy the pin). I asked if a rocking roller coaster pin had been turned in, and the person at the front desk gave me a cupon for a pin 12.00 and under! The pin I got I still treasure to this day because it has such a neat story behind it.

A wonderful horrible moment turned wonderful moment!

I have a few horrible moments turned wonderful stories from our many trips to Disney. Their customer service just can't be beat and that is why we return year after year. But the I have a story that relates to the Dis boards that I'd like to share.

We took a trip to Disneyland during Year of A Million Dreams and we won the dream fastpasses on our last day there :thumbsup2 We used all of our California Adventure passes around dinner time and then hopped over to Disneyland and tried to make it through all the FP rides there. Our kids were 9, 7, and 4 so it is hard to do every ride in two parks very quickly so it was a long day for everyone. But hey, we had to use up the FPs right? Anyway, it was getting late and we had to fly out the next morning so I told my kids to pick one last ride and they picked Big Thunder Mountain. My son put his pin lanyard in the seat pocket so it didn't fall off and he forgot it. It was dark and he was wearing his Dream FP Lanyard so I didn't realize he forgot it until I was unpacking two days later. I called guest services and no one turned it in. In the course of his pin trading on our trip he collected all Chip and Dale pins so I thought it would be pretty easy to identify if someone had turned it in. I didn't have the heart to tell my son so I kept it quiet. Well as our next trip approached I knew he would want to bring his pins and I thought if I could replace at least some of them it would help the bad news go over better. I went to the pin trading board on DIS and asked for advice on where to find just Chip and Dale pins. Someone sent me a PM and told me had had some "extras" he could send to me and asked my address. I gave my address and insisted on paying him but he wouldn't hear of it. Sure enough about a week later I got an envelope full of Chip and Dale pins. :worship: I sent this person a thank you card and money to cover the shipping but I never heard back. They just did it to be kind to my son. I was able to explain to my son that he had forgotten his Lanyard in Disneyland but some kind stranger had sent him a bunch of Chip and Dale pins to replace his lost ones and he was so touched by this person's kindness he didn't even care he lost his pins.

I am hoping my horrible moment turns wonderful if someone turns it in. :sad1:I lost the first diamond DH gave me during our trip that we just got back from 3/13. One of my 1/4 carat princess cut diamond earrings. I have been calling lost and found and probably driving them crazy. I'm hoping for some :wizard: that somebody finds it and turns it in. :worship:

I do like everyone's stories! They are giving me a little hope that it will be found.

Everyone has such amazing stories! Thanks for sharing!!!

Last June, it was our first WDW trip. I worked so hard to try to make it as awesome as possible for us.

I spent so much time making sure everyone had sunscreen on, comfortable attire, water, etc., that I forgot all about myself. I ended up with sun poisoning the first day of our trip. By the time I realized I was scorched and dehydrated, it was too late.

I was up all night sick. The next day, we ventured into the park, but I spent most of the day in the First Aid station. The entire trip I was either stuck in the hotel, FA stations, or sitting in A/C stores while everyone was having fun.

Needless to say, (we were on the DDP), I had a lot of unused credits on our last day (we were leaving out that PM). I asked a cashier in the food court at ASMovies if there was anything we could do about them and she referred me to a manager. The manager (very nicely) asked the reason for the unused credits and I explained how sick I was all week. She took down my room number and told me how I could trade them in for "meals" by using snacks and drinks at certain locations (and if anyone had an issue, for the to call her). I thanked her kindly and went back to my room to finish packing. About 20 minutes later, I received a call from the manager asking if I could meet her in the food court. I walked back up there and she gave me park passes for that day (she asked if we were visiting parks today, said no - but wasn't leaving until PM) for our family. I wasn't expecting anything, and would have even understood if they said we couldn't use my unused table/quickservice credits. (I was just thinking that it couldn't hurt to ask.)

I immediately started to cry and asked if I could give her a huge thank-you hug. (She almost cried, too.) It wasn't their fault I got sick, and I did still try to get out of the room as much as possible and had fun anyway, but they still went out of their way to add that special magic to our trip. :wizard:

Off topic, but howdy fellow Wisconsinite! (I live in Janesville)

Can't say it was a "horrible" moment but it was the first couple of times a CM did something nice for us. But first a little back story: I'm a planner and by planner I mean I have a pretty good feel for what vacations I'm taking several years in advance. I knew all I needed to know about Disney vacations. I booked on line, I knew about the Magical Express and how they'd take my luggage to my room and how it could even take several hours. I knew about the DDP and how my DS (who was 6 at the time) would have to order off the kid menu everywhere we order. I had everything set up perfect, we'd fly out from Huntsville, Al get to Disney with just enough time for the Magical Express to get our bags to us before bed time (Around 6pm local time or so I believe). So when our plane arrived at midnight (yes a 6hour delay) well all that planning went ot the window...remember we put the magical express tags on our bags...and they won't be in our room for several more hours. Never mind we had our 6 month old DD who over saturated her diaper on her mommies lap. We see the CM who directs us to where to catch the bus and she suggests we pop over to baggage claim to see if they put our luggage out so we won't have to wait for it. We wait for a while and don't see it come out when they unload the plane. We go back to the cast member and tell her what is going on and she tells us to wait there and she'll go see what she can find. A bit later and out she comes with all our luggage. (Nice thing 1) We head down to the bus get checked in and of course AKL is last place the bus will stop. We finally get into the room around 2am. Of course this is the time DS decides to get energetic. We all finally pass out. The next morning we wake up too early (as it turns out) and I turn into Clark Griswald "By golly I bought tickets for today we're gunna use em and you'll like it!!" So we scarf down some breakfast and head to MK. This had been a suprise trip for DS, but I had made a tactical error...up to this point his main exposure to Disney was via Pixar...so Mickey, Minnie and the gang..no real clue. So we wander around MK in the early June heat and he doesn't want to do anything. I'm getting upset, he's cranky...finally I give up. We'll go back to the lodge, relax and wait for dinner. We get back, head down to quick service for lunch. We get in line and I look around...for the life of me I cannot see a kids menu. So I assume that maybe they just have kids sized versions of the adult lunches. So I ask DS what he wants, he tells me...but I just can't shake the feelng there is a kids menu...so when we get up there I ask..sure enough there is so I order him chicken nuggets. After all of this it's too much for him, he just breaks down. We get our food and head to check out, the CM at the register took one look at him and asked what was wrong. I was a little embarassed when I explained my mistake. She just smiled and said "Wait here for a second" She leaves the register and runs to the back. When she returns she's carrying the meal my DS had originally asked for. When I was even more embarassed and tried to pay for it she refused and said it was on them.

This didn't happen to me, but it was in my family... When I went down for Xmas 2008, I met with my family that lives in Florida. The first day I went to Epcot and met up with my aunt, uncle, and cousin. My dad and I already had Fastpasses for Test Track after already going on it once earlier. My dad gave his Fastpass to my uncle so he could ride it, and I almost gave mine to my aunt, but she insisted that I went on again, so I did. So while my uncle and I are in line, my dad and aunt tried to get in the standby line for Test Track, but my cousin got scared and started to cry. This would've been a complete fiasco, but suddenly a CM came up to them and asked what was wrong. My aunt explained that my cousin was scared of the ride, and the CM said that it wasn't really that scary. She then invites them to follow her through a special entrance to the ride: they got to skip the ENTIRE line, AND ride Test Track 2 times in a row without getting off! And after the second time my cousin got a certificate for braving the ride.

Mine was on our last trip when I was 7 months pregant with child #3. I had been running around all day without taking a break in the heat and ended up feeling terribly sick and dizzy and had my then 3 year old (in her princess dress) by myself while the others were on a ride. I made my way into what I think was Johny Rockets (or something like that) and sat on the floor (there were no seats) and asked my 3 yo to sit with me and not move. I had several CM members ask if i was ok. I really thought I was going to pass out and was terrified what would happen to my 3 year old if I did. The CM's kept bringing stickers for my daughter and ice for me. Finally, my husband walks through the door with my son and my brother and finds me on the floor. My poor son reached me just in time for me to grab his bag, take out his brand new Pluto and vomit in his gift shop bag. A manager came over and asked if I wanted to go to medical and I am sure I looked crazy when I said a little louder than needed
"NO! We have reservations at Cinderella's Castle in 15 minutes and we are NOT missing them!!".
So they got a wheelchair for me and off to CRT we went. After meeting Cindy we headed to our seat and none of us could eat. BUT, as if some Disney magic occured the princesses appeared and Aroura (my daughter's favorite) made her way straight to my daughter first. ALL of us had tears in our eyes as my daughter stared at her in disbelief and hugged her as tight as she could. It was worth every penny and even puking in a bag in the middle of MK!

I've posted this story on different boards before.

Several years ago, my extended family dropped in at Magic Kingdom for a day of fun before going on our Disney Cruise. I think we had about 13 people in our group.

We were walking from Toontown towards Fantasyland. Ahead of me, I could see my husband pushing our 3 year old son in the stroller. I could see my sister and her family, my mom and step-father.

I searched each person to find my 5 yr old daughter. None of them had her. I was immediately in a panic. I could not remember the last time I had seen her. I yelled out to those in front of me - WHERE'S MADISON?

They all stopped in their tracks, turned around and looked at me, but no one spoke.

My already soaring panic level went into the stratosphere.

What was their problem? Why weren't they moving to help me find her? Did they not realize how big this place was and how tiny she is? Have they not seen the headlines of child molestors lurking in kid-friendly locales?

I turned around and began stomping back to Toontown. If they did not want to help, it was up to me to find her on my own. She was my responsibility.

I had taken about 3 steps when I heard my sister call my name.

I turned around and with all my strength and passion and fury yelled WHAT?

She looked me right in the eye, pointed her finger at me and said...

You're holding her.

And I was. She was perched right there on my left hip. I had gotten so used to toting her over the whole World that I had forgotten I had her.

It was my worst moment turned into the best.

When I got home, I told my dad the story. He asked if I was embarrassed. I said "no. I was relieved."

ok - i burst out laughing at this.

i know EXACTLY what went through your mind both looking for her and feeling so stupid when you realize she was right there.

I had something similiar happen in Adventureland. only i was holding dd's (then 3.5 yo) hand. when all of a sudden a little voice says.

"i'm right here mummy"

i look down and there she is smiling up at me holding my hand.

You are one fierce mama!

It was January 1996. My youngest son was 6 months old, oldest was 4.5 y/o.

We had reservations at the Hoop - and took a bus from CBR to DTD and then on to MK (they used to go to the parks from DtD) and finally, Ft W and then an internal to Pioneer Hall.

We got to Ft. W, then onto Pioneer Hall, checked in for The Hoop and everything was fine, until....

Danny started crying - he needed his bottle. No big deal, I go to get his bottle and....where is my baby bag? WTH? Where the heck is the baby bag??

My mom looked at me, and goes - I think we left it on the bench at DtD!

Danny is wailing now. Just screeching, wailing. My mom hustles back to the internal bus, to the external bus to DTD. It pulls up, and she see's Danny's bag on the bench. Thank GOD!

She tells the bus driver - don't leave! I am just grabbing that baby bag - my grandson's bottle is in it! Don't go!

He doesn't, and when she gets back on he asks "What's going on?" She tells him, we left the baby bag on the bench, and now he's crying like a banshee, he needs his bottle.

Normally this bus did the MK, then to Ft Wilderness, and then she'd have to switch busses to the internal Ft Wilderness, one. Not this time. The bus driver made an announcement to the other passengers:

We have an emergency. We have a hungry baby at the Hoop de Doo, and we're going straight there!

The bus cheered with glee. Not really... my mom said some people seemed annoyed, but that bus driver dropped her from DtD, right at the Pioneer Hall stop. *phew!*

She thanked him profusely, apologized to other bus patrons, and jumped out the bus, and ran over to us.

And Danny sucked that thing down like he hadn't eaten in a week. :lmao:

I'll tell you, that kid is 14, and he still gets hostile if he doesn't eat when he is hungry.
