What is YOUR "horrible moment turned wonderful"?

The bus driver made an announcement to the other passengers:

We have an emergency. We have a hungry baby at the Hoop de Doo, and we're going straight there!

There's nothing like a good cry first thing in morning. Thanks for sharing. These stories are so good.

The bus cheered with glee. Not really... my mom said some people seemed annoyed, but that bus driver dropped her from DtD, right at the Pioneer Hall stop. *phew!*

Selfish that. Being annoyed because a baby is hungry. We have to have priorities. Cudos to the bus driver.

This is our story that happened just this week. We spent Monday at Animal Kingdom and later had a dinner reservation at the Maya Grill at Coronado. On the bus to Coronado I realized that while in the park I had lost our memory card for the camera that had our first 6 days worth of pictures on it (first trip to Disney) I was really upset and as soon at we arrived at the resort we went to the front desk and spoke to a lady who called over to Animal Kingdom and nothing had been found, the lady was from the next province over from us so we had mentioned where we were from and that we were staying at POP Century but gave her no other information. We ended up cancelling the dinner reservation and headed back to Animal Kingdom, nothing had been found but they gave us the info for lost and found to check the next day. We raced around that night taking as many pictures as possible as we had none from our entire trip and were leaving in 2 days, we knew that it would take forever to see Mickey and the gang in the lines so we went over to Chef Mickey's and although they were booked solid they got us a table within 20 minutes after hearing how sad my kids were about losing our pictures. When we arrived back to POP Century that night there was an envelope at the front desk for us and it was an envelope from Animal Kingdom with our info on it and our memory card inside!!! We were so exicted, what are the chances of getting something this small back especially when noone had any personal information to find us rather then the resort and province that we live in. I have no idea how this happened to make it back to us, we have decided that Disney definatly made a something magical happen for us that we thought was hopeless

i have another one from last trip

the very first day of a 10 day park pass i lost the little plastic card holder with all of our park cards, credit card, dvc card, and resort key (key and park cards were different) and the $75 birthday gift card.

sometime between buying some stuff at one of the stores around 2pm and dinner at Cinderella's Castle at 4.30pm it fell off the lanyard.

it wasn't until after dinner when i was gathering everything together that i noticed it was gone.

i freaked out.

lucky for us the manager at Wilderness Lodge was great. he replaced our room key's called dvc and had them send over new dvc cards. i called my credit card company and cancelled our cards (which really was a pain because that only left 1 card left and we were doing the cruise after so it was all very tight)

the issue was the park cards. we purchased them at home in Canada from CAA and had to prove that we bought them. i couldn't remember if i had brought the receipt but thankfully i had so he replaced all the cards for us. he said he couldn't replace the gift card but would give us a $75 credit on our room charges (we had been charging everything back to the room so this was great)

3 days later my little wallet thingy was found and returned to lost and found along with the $50 cash and gift card.

when i got it back i returned to the manager to give him the gift card and he told me to keep it and have an extra special birthday for all my heartache.

word to the wise - DON"T use those plastic card holders for important stuff - here i thought it was safe but it somehow slipped out of the hook - lesson learned

june 2009 my family (DH, DD-5, DD-5, DS-7, DS-8mths) and I made our first trip to Disney World. We made it to our last day in the parks without any major disasters. My parents joined us that day in Magic Kingdom on their way to the beach. It was crazy hot even for June in Florida. Every CM we encountered reminded us of the heat index and the warnings that had been issued. All 8 of us went to the Tiki Room in Adventureland where we had to take my DS, then 8 months old, out of the stroller. After the show, my husband put him back in the stroller and off we all went in search of a Dole Whip that my mom was anxiously awaiting. As we are walking the stroller does something funny and hits a bum and then I trip and I hear a ear piercing scream and my husband yell at my daughter for being dramatic. That all took a mear 2 seconds and then it took me 10 more to realize that my infant son was on the concrete screaming. I grabbed him and started screaming for someone to help us. Two CM's come running, one from a shop and one from the walkway. They immediately called the in park EMT's and got my son some ice for his head. They took us inside an air conditioned room that was a hidden door around Aloha Isle while we waited for the emergency people to get to us. I stripped his shirt off to wrap the ice because it was too cold on his already too hot body. The CM's were great. They took care of my other three kids, getting them Dole Whips and bringing them and my parents in out of the heat. They also went and got my son a new shirt that wasn't soaked in ice water. The EMT's were great. They checked him out and gave him some Tylenol and showed us where the Baby Station was with medical care at MK. My son was ok and we were able to finish our day at MK and fly home the next day without any problems. My son ended up with a huge pump knot on his head and a big bad purple bruise but he was fine. The CM's really made a terrible situation tolerable for all of us. However, my husband is not allowed to put the baby in the stroller any more. The whole fiasco could have been prevented if he would have been paying more attention to what he was doing and fastened the stroller correctly instead of worrying about the other things going on and what we were doing next.

My ds, who was 3 at the time, has severe food allergies and we carry an epi-pen, inhalers and Benadryl with us at all times. We had it all together in a zippered case. We kept it on a hook on the stroller and took it with us whenever went to an attraction. dh and I were always asking each other who had the epi-pen. We were slowing down for the afternoon and were headed into the enchanted tiki room when I asked dh if he had the epi-pen. He said no. I didn't have it either, so we got out of line and searched the stroller. It wasn't there. That's when panic set in. We approached the CM and asked if he could call over to GS to see if it had been turned in. It hadn't. The CM was very nice. He told us to go in and watch the show and he would check back when it was done since it may take a few minutes for it to be returned. We went and searched the stroller again just to be sure. nothing :sad1: The CM asked us where we had been before we got there. I told him we had been on the TTA. He got back on the phone to GS to tell them. We decided to skip the show and head to GS. We told our story again and they said that no one had turned it in but they had some CM's working on it. She also called over to TTA and no one had it there either. The CM took our info in case someone returned it. We didn't know what else to do so we decided to head back over to TTA. When we got there a CM was coming down the ramp in a rush with ds's epi-pen. :goodvibes We were so thankful!!!! They really went beyond what I would have expected anyone to do. They really made a horrible situation so much better. I wish I would have been in the proper frame of mind to write down some names to thank them properly, but I had tunnel vision at the time.
The next time we went to WDW we put a little fanny pack on ds with his epi-pen in it so it was attached to him at all times :)

We were at WDW last week and it poured buckets on our AK day. The rain didn't bother us at all, in fact we were all laughing in the downpour as we made our way out of the park that afternoon. But our leisurely stroll in the rain had a bad side effect - our DD's autograph book got soaked. We didn't realize how bad it was until the next day when the pages started falling out of it when she opened it at CRT. She was in tears and our waitress asked what the problem was. We told her and told DD that since we were planning on taking the signatures out anyway to scrapbook with them we didn't think it was a terribly big deal. Well the waitress came back with a brand new book that had been signed by all the princesses! DD was beside herself! And we were thrilled with her thoughtfulness!

Last day of parks tradition for me and my boyfriend is to go eat at Coral Reef. We decided to carry on this tradition when we brought our nephew last August. Dinner went a little late, and we were rushing to try to make it back to the Magic Kingdom for all of the fireworks (which we missed most of out of pure excitement of being there the first day when we went to MK ). We close to the MK but our monorail stops, because the one in front of us was having problems loading...so I made sure to give bf and nephew their tickets...and specifically told nephew to not lose it, or we were done and going back to the room. (we had misplaced or lost tickets about twice within that week already) Sure enough we get to the gates between the monorail pulling in and getting to the gate, he lost his ticket. And I got mad...because I wanted him to see Wishes so badly! :headache: And next thing I know he's crying, and I'm crying :guilty: ...and my bf just took control and lead us both to Guest services and sure enough they replace the ticket no questions asked! , and before I know it we're on Main St. to finish watching the fireworks.:yay: We were able to take advantage of some EMH that night and go home happy.

Not sure how old your nephew is but rule of thumb with kids...if you tell them not to lose it, spill it or break it, chances are it will get lost, spilled or broken. :rotfl: I know you weren't laughing then, but I catch myself saying stuff like that to the kids all the time. Of course they're not going to intentionally do any of those, but, ya know, Murphy's Law and all that. :upsidedow Just had to chime in since I do that all. the. time.

My nephew was 10 at the time of our trip. I'm an amateur! We don't have any kids of our own yet, and it showed at that moment more so than any other time! :rotfl2:

Our oldest is seven, but I'm willing to bet it will still apply in three years. :rotfl:

Last June, we (DH, me, DD and her friend) were headed to WDW and were in a wreck 400 miles from home. The vehicle was totalled and three of us went to the er in an ambulance. It turned out my neck was broken in two places, 10 ribs were broken and I had a head bleed. DD's head was cut by glass and her friend was bruised by the seatbelt. I was sent to a trauma center. Fortunately, we had friends meeting us at WDW and they turned around and took off to the hospital. For it to be so bad, so many things were wonderful. Even though a lot of our belongings fell out of the vehicle, we didn't lose anything except one shoe that was trapped in the wreckage. Other motorists jumped out and started collecting our things for DH and put them in the vehicle unless they were electronic, which they handed to the police and DH. Our friends stayed with DD to get her stitches and loaded our things into their vehicle. Then they took off to the trauma center. After I was at the trauma center and had more tests, we knew I was ok, but not sure of surgery, we sent our friends on to Orlando with the girls. I didn't want everyone's trip messed up. DH called Kidani and told the manager what was going on and they told him they would help DD in any way they could. The next afternoon, DD & friend found a tray in the room with Zebra Domes and chocolate spoons set out for them and a card from Tinkerbell saying she hoped they felt better soon. I was released from the trauma center 5 days later and decided to go to WDW and sit and watch the animals and do whatever I could do in a wheelchair. The front desk CM's sent me a Disney soft cooler full of snacks and water. The CM's in the gift shop sent me a beautiful plant. They found out about it when DH went looking for straws for me since I couldn't drink out of a glass or can. They were so sweet and told him to let them know if there was anything they had that would help me. Also since we own DVC, we normally don't get daily mousekeeping, but our mousekeeper asked the manager if she could go in every day to help me and my family, which the manager agreed to. Every day, she left a different towel animal and showed me how she made them just before the end of the trip. I did venture to the parks for a couple of hours a day, but obviously couldn't ride anything. The characters were so great and made a point of coming to me to take pictures, which was so sweet. I know they were busy but they would hug me the best they could without hurting me and put their hands on their heart to show sympathy. It was all so sweet. I included the stuff before Disney just because sometimes, I forget how nice people can be to complete strangers in need. I always loved Disney, but they did so much to make our trip after the accident better, I am even more impressed with them.

Wonderful, magical stories! I'm laughing and crying all at once. My kids think I'm nuts. :lmao:

Last June, we (DH, me, DD and her friend) were headed to WDW and were in a wreck 400 miles from home...

Wow! You're a trooper!! Of course, I probably would have done the same thing. ;) Aside from the obvious misfortune, this was a great one to read!

I took three of my best girlfriends a few years ago. My best friend's mom had been ill with pancreatic cancer, and had taken a turn for the worse the week before the trip. It has happened two years before, and she pulled through, so my friend decided to go along.

Lo and behold, we had one beautiful day there and very early the next morning, the hospice nurse called to tell my dear friend that her mom had died. We were just devasted for her.

We went up front to the concierge desk to get the phone number for SW to change her flight and the staff jumped into action.

They called guest services and had her transported back to the room, while they changed flight reservation, so she could pack. About twenty minutes later, a member of the mousekeeping staff pulled up in a van, as well as someone from the concierge desk with her new plane reservation. The girl from the mousekeeping staff dropped off the concierge person back at the lobby and then drove my friend directly to the Southwest terminal. They handed her directly to one of the skycaps and explained what had happened, and they too leapt into action.

The girl from the mousekeeping staff then returned to our room and reassured us that our dear friend had been taken care of and was alright and on her way home.

We were so relieved - had they not done that, we have been so worried about her. We would have just had to put her in a cab and hope for the best.

When we returned home, our dear friend told us that all along the way, she tried to tip everyone that helped her on the staff and at the airport, but no one would accept it - they all commented that it was their job to help their guests through a very difficult time.

That is wonderful to hear that even during a difficult time the CM's just want to do what is best! (Your story just made me cry because I lost my mother and year ago and I remember how even the smallest kind gester meant the world to me and my siblings)

OK, my fella is laughing at me, because I'm sitting here with happy tears trickling down my cheeks! :rotfl::goodvibes And I'm still only about half way through all the posts!

I've got two stories (that I can think of right now), one that happened to me and one I just witnessed. I'll do my one first, or I'll be crying too much to see the screen clearly!

This last September, we were staying at POR and had managed to collect quite a few of those lovely bead necklaces. When we got talking to other Guests, I'd often hand these out, as we had loads and they made the other people just light up (kids and adults alike)! At one point I was at the tills in the resort store and the CM gave me some beads. I said they'd be very useful, as I was running low from handing so many out, and she said "Well in that case, you'd better have some more!" and gave me a huge handful of them!

Now for the other one (I've told this before, so please forgive me if this isn't new to you!). When we were waiting for the AK parade to start, in one of the wheelchair viewing areas, a family on a Make a Wish trip came up next to us. The three kids were squabbling and poking at each other, as kids always do, but when the parade started they forgot all about that and were transfixed. The little girl (about 6, I think) who's wish it was had been wearing a hat, but as soon as the characters started coming past, she forgot all about covering her beautiful peach-fuzz-covered head, and threw the hat in the back of the stroller.

All of the characters were great about coming over to give them attention, and were making sure to spend just as much time with her brother and sister, as they did with her. When Mickey started coming into view, you could tell this was who she was there to see, because she just lit up like a Christmas tree. As soon as Mickey saw her, he didn't have eyes for everyone else. He stood there waving and blowing kisses just to her until the float went out of site around the corner. The grin on her face was utterly priceless, and I (a complete stranger) had to stop myself from welling up. I'm not sure whether or not her parents saw this, but even if they didn't, I'm sure they had millions of other magical experiences that trip :goodvibes.

Thank you for all of these magical stories, they're all wonderful :thumbsup2

These have just been amazing to read - thank you all for sharing your stories
