We love Kona Cafe and Tutto Italia. They both had excellent food.

If you're looking for great experiences as well as great food try these:

Boma - great food, really interesting selections. The best part for me and my kids though are the animals right outside the lodge. We spent over an hour just watching them and taking pictures, we also loved talking to the CMs posted outside who are there to answer your questions about the animals, some straight from Africa/S. Africa.

Sci-Fi - great experience! Stick with burgers, fries and shakes (man, so good!) an the movies and cartoons are very entertaining. It's so fun to sit and eat in the cars!

CRT - WE LOVE THE CASTLE! We've had great meals and great experiences there! We had dinner and lunch so far, while we enjoyed lunch a little more dinner was also great.


As far as CS restaurants go:
My favorite in the whole of WDW is Sunshine Seasons. There's nothing like riding Soarin' and then getting a great lunch right there. Lots of selection and really yummy, fresh food. My favorite is the seared tuna salad or the roasted beet salad and share a California Roll with my daughter. DH loves the sandwiches and my Mom loves the roasted beet salad too. My little DD loves the fruit bowl and the veggie lo mein.
Columbia Harbour House is also great too!

This time we are trying restaurants we haven't tried yet, all of them are new to us. The ones I'm most looking forward to are:
Teppan Edo - a Japanese Hibachi restaurant, so you get great food and entertainment.
50's Prime- Time - designed after the 50's and the CMs are known to play along with you like they're family and give you a semi "hard time".
Flying Fish - beautiful, great food on the Boardwalk with a good kids menu, can't go wrong there!
Crystal Palace breakfast - get into the park before opening and get to see Pooh, Tigger and Piglet. 'Nuf said.

I did the deluxe plan with my 7 year old daughter this past January--and I didn't think we spent a lot of time in restaurants (I actually thought they were nice breaks and it was good to sit down a few times a day!)--but it was a lot of food--but I'd do it again!

We do the 1 snack, 1 counter service and 1 table service. That is plenty for us and we don't spend too much time in the restuarants and more time in the parks. We usually find ourselves on the last day in the gift shops buying up our snack points.

Given the ages of your kids, I have 3 suggestions:

Chef Mickey's for breakfast--it is the best character meal, the food is very good and character interaction is great. Even my DH who is lukewarm about Disney in general, loves Chef Mickey's.

'Ohana for dinner--they have great, fun games that the kids can get up and play with the group during dinner, but the restaurant is actually fairly quiet (a nice break for the grown ups) and the food is very, very good.

Whispering Canyon Cafe--again, based on the age of your kids, it is a really fun place to eat and the food is pretty good.

I recommend...

Boma- This is my favorite place to eat over all. It's a buffet and the flavors are like nothing you have ever tasted before. Great for adults to try something new and they have selections for kids like chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, etc. so it's not like you'll struggle to find something they will eat and you are not subjects to burgers and fries. And when you are done, you can wander the grounds and see the animals. We were their at night for dinner and came across the "night vision" look out. It was SO cool! You got to watch the giraffes through night vision scopes and talk with the animal experts. We just stumbled upon it after dinner.

Whispering Canyon Cafe- REALLY good BBQ. A really great and fun envionment. All you can eat BBQ skillet and bottomless milkshakes. Yum! We went towards the end of the lunch time so it wasn't really buzzing, but I have heard during dinner, it's noisey and routy and FUN.

Kona Cafe- We had breakfast there. Honestly, the best omelette I have ever had. Again, things on their menu are really unique.

And if you are interested... Yakkatori House is a quick service, but maybe one of my favorite one on property. It's a quick service with a totally different kind of envorment them most the quick service on property. You can sit out inside or I like to sit out by a little waterfall with paper lanterns over your head. It's a nice place. And the Sukiyaki Beef is fantastic.

What is your favorite Disney restaraunt? This will be our first time to Disney! It will be my husband, Daughter (7), son (4 1/2) and myself. We are doing the Disney Dining Plan but we haven't decided on the regular or the deluxe yet. We want to try different things and experience something fun and different.

It is difficult to choose just one! For signature TS, I love Jiko and CG. For regular TS, 50's Prime Time, Kona, and Tusker House (for lunch or dinner) are great. For CS, WGP Express, Columbia Harbor House, and Sunshine Seasons are favorites.

Since this is your first time to WDW, I would really discourage you from the DxDDP, unless your want the focus of your trip to be food and not the parks. There is so much to see/do in the parks (we have been 10 times and have yet to see it all), and you will seriously cut into those experiences. The DxDDP could easily suck 5-6 hours from each day of your trip. For a first trip, I would pick a variety of dining spots: TS, CS and perhaps a signature dining experience or two. Although my family has done the DDP a few times, for a first trip I would skip it altogether. By not doing it, you can try a variety of places, and have appetizers/desserts when you want, or just an entree. You can definately get some great food into your trip, but focus on the parks too.

I love reading peoples "favorites" in topics its always great to see if theres something i might want to try that I havent in my almost 30 years of visiting WDW. I for one am of the camp that doesnt really find much in the lines of good food at WDW. I tend to lean towards the atmosphere over the menu at WDW. I do enjoy the turkey dinner at the Liberty tree tavern in MK, and I always have fnu at places like Planet Hollywood at downtown and teh dinner shows like hoop dee doo and the luau. I used to love the steakhouse in the contemporary and now thats gone so still looking for a replacement. le cellier really doesnt do it for me.

On the DDP are all menu items included at participating restaraunts?

We have not done the deluxe, but with the dining plan, whatever the price, you get entree, desert, and non-alcoholic drink per person. Consider the Deluxe Dining Plan if you are doing signature dining restaurants, because they take 2 of your TS for one sitting.

We take our children to CRT (DDs 7,5) for breakfast. Many of the princesses are there and individually come to your table for pictures (except Cinderella in the lobby downstairs). They love it and if your girl likes princesses, she would like this. It is pricey, and will cost you two TS credits unless you pay out of pocket.

We really enjoyed Fulton's. In this board, several have given it a bad review. Never seen it on the Dining Plan.

In the past few trips I've really like the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian and the Grand Floridian Cafe. Grand Floridian I like in no small part because whenever I've been there it's been nice and quiet, and it's large enough that I've never had to wait on line, either.

Teppan Edo in Epcot is great! I'm a picky eater so it's nice being able to tell them exactly what i want in my food.

I love Cape May Cafe's character breakfast, too, or O'hana's makes delicious potatoes and the Polynesian's juice is delicious.

And for a snack or quickie breakfast, I love the Boardwalk Bakery.

Crystal Palace, hands down!
