What is your favorite DVC resort for Halloween?

I'm thinking about a short 2 or 3 night stay next year. Probably only MNSSHP for tickets, otherwise sticking to the resort. We've never been at this time, which resorts do Halloween best? Kids are in their prime trick or treating and costume years so I'd like to go big.

I don't think any of the DVC resorts do all that much for Halloween, so proximity to the MK may be what you are looking for. Fort Wilderness (not DVC) goes all out, actually it's the guests staying there, but unless you are a FW guest, you won't be able to get in. It's really restricted to FW guests at Halloween.

That disappointing. Not even trick or treating?

I don't believe they allow guests not staying at the Fort to go there for Halloween, it's a very popular time of year to stay there. The decorations at the campsites are beyond amazing. There are some Fort Wilderness experts on these boards, maybe post in the FW thread to see if they have answers. In the past, pre-covid, I know some of the resorts did trick or treating at the front desk and food courts (if the resort has one).

We went to FW on Halloween one year and got to participate in the trick-or-treating. We were not staying there. It was such a fun atmosphere! This was pre-covid. I would hate to hear that it has changed and that people can't visit the Fort on Halloween night!

Couldn’t you park at Disney Springs and take the bus to FW?

We rode the boat from MK. I'm confused by previous posts. How can they keep you from entering FW on Halloween unless they block you from the parking lot or don't provide boat transportation?

Check out/search for a prior thread titled:

“Worth it to take time out to see Fort Wilderness decorations around Halloween?”

It’s from August and there are a few FW experts who responded. Basically, in the past, CM’s monitored who was allowed on the FW boats/busses. If you weren’t a FW registered guest or have a confirmed ADR, you were not allowed in or on transportation. Halloween night only.

Wow! I had no idea. Thanks for clarifying. It was definitely a festive atmosphere, and every camper we talked to was friendly and didn't seem to have a problem with all the visitors. It was one of the most fun things we've ever done at Disney!

OP, I don't know if there is a DVC resort that would be good for Halloween. The year we visited the Fort, we stayed at Wilderness Lodge (can't remember if it was BRV or CCV). They had some trick or treating in the lobby, if I remember correctly. I did like the woods atmosphere for Halloween, and of course, it is a quick boat ride to MK for MNSSHP. Just don't expect a lot of festivities at the resorts.

Good to know. CCV is home so that makes that part easy. Maybe try to get a reservation at Trails End.

It’s too bad there’s not more. I wasn’t expecting Christmas level of effort, but thought maybe a few displays like at Easter would be nice.
