What is your favorite adhesive?

Another ATG user here. I also use the pop-dots for demension and small xyron for letters and small pieces.

So I've been doing a bit of research on the ATG. I've heard nothing but good news about this product and now I'm thinking I'm going to get myself one.

I started this thread because I thought I had found a good adhesive only to be disappointed in it. And now I need something that's reliable. I've mainly been using the little tape dispenser (that you can find at Walmart, don't remember the brand but think of a "tombow" type) I found that I really liked the dots tape runner instead of the actual glue tape runner that is until I was just looking at some pages that I did using the dots runner and all of my pictures, mats and cardstock fell off the page!!!! It obviously didn't hold it's stickiness and now I'm in the process of trying to re-glue everything. NOT HAPPY.....

So how "permanent" is the glue tape from the ATG? And are there different widths of this stuff? Which one do you use---repositionable? high tack? acid neutral? There's so many different item numbers that I don't know which ones to get!!!

Thanks....I think I'm going to be heading to Michaels by the end of the week to see if I can't get myself one.

As far as I know, there are two widths of ATG tape - 1/4" and 1/2". I have both sizes but because of the way they are loaded into the dispenser, I don't think they are interchangable. I haven't tried to swap out the tapes so maybe someone has had some luck with it. The tape is pretty permanent - if you don't press down on your piece you can move things around a little but I do find it is less forgiving then other adhesives. I don't remember if they are acid free but it's not somethine I worry about.

CM Tape runner
ATG
glue dots
Xyron for cricut letters
glue pen/Zig 2 way for tiny pieces

When I make a mistake with the ATG, I roll off the tape like rubber cement. If I have already stuck it to another piece of paper, unless I move REALLY FAST, it is not coming apart.

My pieces have fallen apart if I forget to press a bit.

THe gun itself has never felt too big or heavy.

I use the 1/4 tape. If I need 1/2, I can always add another row of tape to make it bigger, but I can't take 1/2 inch tape and use it on soemthing small.

I've been using the ATG for almosr 2 years now and I have not had to go back and re-do projects.

You'd have to pry my ATG gun from my cold dead fingers! LOL
I use Zig's 2 way when the ATG isn't right for the small pieces.

I've been using the ATG for a couple of years and I love it!

The tape comes in 2 sizes: 1/4" and 1/2". I'm not sure what the new pink ones use. I know that mine is the old ATG 700 and I bought an adapter for it so that I could use either size tape. I mostly use the 1/2" b/c I use less tape that way. I use a Glue Glider Pro for smaller areas.

If you are concerned about acid-free tape, make sure you buy the "Scotch Gold" (I think that's the name) refills b/c they are acid-free whereas the regular refills are not. Most websites I have seen that carry the refills have both (the acid-free one will say it's acid-free).

got my pink ATG today :cool1: so much easier to use than I thought once I figured out how to load the tape, break off the glue at the end and not make glue boogies!
megan came home and said "what's that thing" I told her hands off, she couldn't use it! mommy's new toy!!!

PINK ATG!!!

enough said...LOL

Got mine and I got 2 extra for my girlfriends and we all fell in love at the same crop One roll lasted the weekend and we were hooked.

One of them said it's the best scrapbooking tool she has ever had in her 15 years of scrapping. I will never scrap without it again.

I also use glue dots for flowers and the xyron or glue pen for die cuts. I got a glue that is called glue gloss....it's like a lipgloss container with wand but full of glue. It seems good but I have only used it once.
