What is your comfort food for a cold, cozy day?

Yum! Wondering if you have a recipe you’d like to share? I’ve been looking for a good one!

I usually make chicken and noodles, beef stew, chili or stuffed pepper soup. I should really use my crock pot more because I love the way the house smells as things cook, but I don’t often plan that well.

It's on the Damn Delicious website. Slow cooker chicken and wild rice soup.

Chili or pot roast

I make a pot roast that everyone raves about. One of my secrets is to add a splash of red wine and another secret is to sear and Brown the outside of the meat in the enameled cast iron Dutch oven I cook it in before I add the other ingredients so that I lock in the juices. A good set of tongs is invaluable for turning the meat to Brown it on all sides. Sometimes I’ll sprinkle a little bit of freshly ground black pepper on the meat before I sear it. The leftover roast, broth and vegetables (I cook mine with chunks of celery, carrots, onions and unpeeled red potatoes) make a great base for a stew or shepherds style pie.

Chili or homemade vegetable beef soup with grilled cheese sandwiches made with butter. And I got a new KitchenAid mixer so I have to bake something too. :)

Congratulations on the new mixer. I recommend making muffins (You can freeze the extras for later. Just pop one in the microwave to defrost it and make it nice and warm right before you eat it.), cookies (I double my batch and freeze half or three quarters into logs for slice and bake cookies so I can later have a fresh cookie whenever I want) or brownies.

Anything warm and cheesy consisted of my comfort food for a long time. But last year I found out I'm lactose intolerant. :sad1: So now I'll order pho from my local vietnamese restaurant down the street. It's the best.

Anything I don't have to make myself :) As my girls call them..cheesy noodles, with picante sauce added. My dd says mac n cheese comes out of the box but cheesy noodle are homemade :)

Chicken and dumplings. I liked my Mama's better than honey's but since I don't have to make them I'll eat them. Mama made hers with big round dumplings, honey does the strips.
