Hi Everyone

Thought it might be good to share our best package and DIY finds and with some of them so fresh in our minds, now might be a good time:banana:.

Which UK school hols work out the cheapest?
Which are the best value in terms of offers?
Do you always book DIY or do packages work out better at these times?
What has been your best school holiday deal?

Feel free to highjack and tweak as you see fit, just thought it would be good to get some feedback in this area.:goodvibes

Thanks for playing along

Suzanne

I may as well kick off here as I am very much in the planning stages (apart from flights) - all the times that I have went I have done DIY apart from once when I did a package holiday through Lunn Poly....!

DIY I feel just allows you that bit more freedom but I don't really have any basis for cost comparison for packages so will leave someone else to answer that.

As to school holidays - certainly for Scotland, I feel that Easter offers the best value in terms of price, crowds and weather. We went in October once straight into Hurricane Jeanne as we arrived so were cooped up in room at ASM for a whole day.

This is the first time I am going direct and must admit that I am looking forward to it and not having to change flights. I looked at lots of flights and for the time when we were leaving it just so happened that the direct flight was the cheapest.

It really depends when your child's school breaks up. Next year, for example, Easter is really late but many schools take the first two weeks in April regardless of when easter is....so next year there could well be bargins to be had and low crowds:goodvibes:goodvibes

I always find easter more expensive, i find taking the kids out an extra week and travelling a week either side of whitsum (may / june half term ). always gets me the best flight prices, and crowd levels are normally good too.

Interested to see peoples views as hoping to go october.Done august and prices were quite high but saying that payed less for accomodation but more for flights this year:confused3.My friend is going may into june with her kids and flights with VA for 4 have cost her £1569 which I think is good compared to our £1515 for 3 end september this year. I wouldnt personally go easter as I have heard it is very busy and after experiencing the build up to christmas I would not cope with the crowds.
Flights are a major issue for everyone most preferring direct but opting for indirect because of the prices. Hotels can be got for as little as £25 a night depending on budget and luxury required.
There are cashback sites and discount codes which all help to save some pennies and I have read that VH are joining quidco.VA are already on.
