I would like to know what are the best foot powders, sprays, insoles, walking shoes...etc. If possible where to get these items. I want to be prepared for whatever I may encounter, since I have problem feet. Thanks.

NO WORKING COUNTER BUT...
44 days til my 1st trip.....

Take mole skin or those bandaids for blisters with you just in case.

Don't wear the same shoes everyday... switch them out.

Wear cotton socks that breathe and take a change with you if they become too wet with sweat. Or, if you can find any, find the socks that wick the sweat away from your feet.

At night massage your feet with a good foot cream.

Take periodic breaks and sit with your feet up, if possible.

Have a great time!:)

I read on one of the disney sights that the military uses deodorant on their feet and it eliminates blisters. The person who posted it said she had done it for the last 10 trips and no blisters. Not sure if it works but it is worth a try.

Midway through our trip, I'm having a "sports pedicure" at the GF Spa! Apparently its essentially the same as their regular pedi, but they use peppermint oils at the end! Nice tingly feet!

I cut pieces of moleskin and put them in my bag to take to the parks. It comes in big rolls. This way, I had them ready to use when a sore spot started.

I take a break in the middle of the day back to the resort (have spinal issues) and we always jump in the hot tub at the pool. I aim my feet at the jets for a few minutes (massage!) and when we get out, I lie down and elevate for a while. I have also taken my shoes off and stuck my feet in the kiddie pop-up sprinkler fountains that are in various places. The water is cold. It's very refreshing and reduces the swelling that I get in my feet.

High quality shoes/sandals are a must. It is well worth the initial investment. Make sure that they are broken in before your trip!

My feet always get blisters, but last time I used the mole skin and it really worked well!

Another thing I've learned....be sure to wear water shoes to the water parks if you go. Nothing is worse than you feet getting torn up by walking barefoot on cement all day, and then having to walk around the parks the next day.

Somebody on this board recommended duct tape. :worship: to who ever told that! I use to get blisters inside blisters but now I just put a piece of duct tape where I usually get them before I go in the park and wear wick cool max socks (target) and reabok shoes and I do not get any! I am telling you, Disney is a lot more fun when you don't think about your feet with every step!

Oh I get the purple duct tape brand at walmart. Makes me look really cool back at the hotel! :lovestruc

If possible, bring a change of shoes to the park with you. Sometimes just getting into shoes that support you differently is enough to bring your feet back to life.

Kungaloosh!
Morticia.

When I get back to my room, my feet are usually hot and sore, so I sit on the edge of the tub and wash my feet really well in the coldest water I can get out of the faucet. I have also been known to supplement the cold water with ice cubes.

But the best thing to do is to find out what kind of shoe works best for you (for me, it's a New Balance running shoe) and go out for increasingly long walks to prepare. That 6-8 mile daily average can be really exhausting if you're not used to walking. Also, I prefer Coolmax socks to cotton, preferably the kind with the padding in the heel and toe. I have horrible feet and it really helps.

How to take care of your feet....

1-wear good shoes. Do not wear tight or shoes that do not breathe. A great place to find great shoes is www.zappos.com. Shoe brands to look for are mephisto, teva. Do not wear the same shoes every day, switch off and also get an excellent pair of walking sneakers made by rockport or nike. When wearing sneakers, wear the kind of socks that keep your feet dry as blisters are caused by moisture and rubbing.

2-every night massage your feet with a foot cream containing peppermint. This will stimulate circulation and reduce sewlling. Elevate your feet when resting as much as possible.

3-before putting on your shoes or sneakers, sprinkle foot powder on your clean dry feet.

4-Remember do not cheap out on shoes, you get what you pay for. Espically if you have foot problems. Shoes like Keds are not the answer - believe me! I know some swear by them, but they may not have special foot needs. One time I wore a pair of what I thought were broken in comfy keds. Well, I took them off only to find HUGE blisters on both feet. I never did that again! Spending a little extra $$ on shoes can make the difference in your vacation. In WDW, your feet are your mode of transportation.

My own personal best remedy for sore feet if you've got a traveling companion: Take some peppermint foot lotion, then get your DH/DW (or other sig. other traveling companion) and take turns giving foot massages. Ahhhh....it always feels better when someone ELSE gives the massage. (On really tough days where neither of us feels like sitting up, we just prop ourselves up with pillows on opposite sides of the bed and do each other's foot massages at the same time.... hee hee).

We take 1 big suitcase and 1 medium suitcase and it fits in perfectly. With that I take some Vaseline bath bead, foot scrub, and foot lotion. When we return to our room I fill it up with the all hot water. Pour the bath beds in - smile as the water turns blue - crank it up... then ahhhhh! stick those tried puppies in. :goodvibes Me and my daughter love this! We watched the tv in the room and reviewed our plans for the next day as we soaked.

Make sure you get extra towels from mousekeeping and tip $2 when they bring them. Ahhhh. I think I will whip that baby out when I get home today and do a parafin dip too. :p

By the way - my suitcase gets searched everytime on the way their and back so make sure your underwear is clean :rotfl2:

After a long day of walking, I love to get in the hot tub and put my feet right against the jets. It's a fabulous massage on them that really helps the soreness. :lovestruc

I second the deoderant on feet idea. I believe it needs to be spray deoderant. I don't ever seem to have a blister problem (knock on wood ;) ), but MIL does. She sprayed it on her feet--no blisters. :dancer:

I think the best thing you can do is spend the money on a great pair of shoes and also buy some good socks. My husband and I wear the Thorlo socks that you can buy at sports stores. They are fabulous. Very cushiony and some have built in arch support. I have also found them at 1/2 price at TJ Maxx and Marshalls. Once you put them on, you won't want to take them off. Also I have found that buying walking shoes a size larger than you normally wear will really help keep your feet comfy. After a long day standing and walking your feet will still have room to swell up and won't be rubbing on anything.

I truely believe in spending the money for the best socks and shoes you can afford. If you can avoid getting the sore, blistery feet you will enjoy your trip so much more. Take it from a person that suffered for years and didn't realize it was my average footwear causing all the aches and pains!! I recommend New Balance or Keen, or Saucony. Good luck!!

I used to be pretty miserable, and I still have problems with my toes. Above suggestions are all excellent, but I would add to buy some double layer socks. They make them with Coolmax now, very thin. Pricey, but wonderful.

We just bought Crocs, and I have high hopes for those. For sure for rainy days. I also just ordered a pair of Spira tennis shoes to combat my heel pain that comes on when I do a lot of walking. Plenty of time to break them in before our late May trip!

I still get painful ridges on my toes where they rub together. Moleskin works pretty well, and those little "toe tubes" you can get at the drugstore work too. I just ordered a "toe sock" from Footsmart.com.

Being prepared makes a difference! I take more foot stuff than cosmetics!

This year I used a product that another DisBoard member told me about. It is called BodyGlide and it kept my feet in perfect condition after a week of walking and two wet days!

I found it at a running store and paid about $7. It was the best spent $7 on the whole trip! :flower:

we also like to go in the hot tub after a long day at wdw and we love to go get a full body massage or a pedicure. we also wear comfotable shoes, socks & shoes pads.

we also bought a few massagers from the emporium at the china ws in epcot, which are great, we get a new one every year, which always helps sore feet.
