What is wrong with people?? Vent....

OMG..What are people thinking anymore?? My kids and I were out and about today. We were driving thru a fairly busy parking lot at a shopping center. This little girl about 3 or 4 gets out of a parked car and runs across the parking lot almost getting hit twice. I go into the store I was heading too and someone had grabbed her (some one got her before I could get out of my car) and took her in and asked if anyone was her mom...

Turns out mom had left her in the car ALONE while she was in the store. The mom had the nerve to hit the kid for getting out of the car. People immediately jumped up and said that mom is the one who should be getting hit for letting the girl alone in the car.

So then mom says, she was in the car seat, its not my fault she got out. Brilliant as she was, she took her stuff and left but not before forgetting to grab the paper with her name and phone # on it (she was selling some stuff at Once Upon A Child)...A couple of the many people who witnessed this ran out and got her license plate # so they could either call the cops or CSB. Oh and apparently, there was no car seat either. The store had about 15 people who saw the whole thing and they were really (rightfully so, IMO) going off on this lady.

SHe is lucky that the child either didn't get hit or kidnapped ..What an idiot. And to blame it all on the child.

Luckily (I guess), it was only about 75 with no sun so at least the poor thing wasn't roasting either. I "think" I saw the window down as well...Why didn't she just put a sign out that said "Here's my kid, do what you want with her"...people just amaze me sometimes.

My dd13 is worried about what the mom is going to do to the child after mom took her and left. Sad..

WOW...that behavior needs to be REPORTED and ASAP. So sad today, people going off on their kids like they have a RIGHT to do that...how about someone SLAP her!!!

OP, you live in Toledo. I used to as well....well actually SYLVANIA and I love and miss that area so much. I met so many fabulous people where we lived in Sylvania.

I hope that CPS does something about this. That child is obviously in danger. The mother probably thought she'd be in and out, unfortunately that wasn't the case and ANYTHING could have happend. It only takes a moment to snag a child these days. I hope the mother is sanctioned by the state.

momrek06 - Once upon a child is a childrens resale store. For both my kids we found really good deals on gently used clothing.

And for the mother who left her 3-4 yr old in the car, while she went into the store, she needs to be flogged. tarred and feathered. Seer stupidity in full force!

Of course she blames her child because in her mind leaving her in the car wasn't wrong. She definitely needs a wake-up call. I hope some of those people follow through.

STUPID@$$ WOMAN!!!

Here in TN over the past several years, NUMEROUS children have died from being left in vehicles...daycare vans....etc! A youth minister left his infant daughter in the car while he went to work in the church.....(It wasn't the normal routine for him to have the baby)....about 4 hrs later he remembered, but it was too late....she was dead.

It sounds to me like this woman was just stupid and a horrible parent!! I wish there was some way we could get an update on what happened.
