What is the view from a lake-view room @ the S/D

I do understand it is of the lake, but does that mean Crescent Lake or the water way in front of the beach by the grotto pool? or the water way to MGM? Sorry if this is confusing, but I seem to be confused on the lake view and the resort view.

I am also confused about the views. When we were at the Swan we had a balcony with a view of the
Dolphin. At the Dolphin we were in the west wing
with a view of the balcony rooms at the Swan. It
was a reverse view each trip. We could see TOT
and Cresent Lake from the Dolphin. I don't know
the difference between a resort view and a water
view. I really enjoyed the view from the Dolphin,
but missed the balcony. Maybe somebody in the
know can give us an explanation of the different
views.

We had a Resort View on our recent trip to the Dolphin. We were on the East Wing and looked out onto the waterway to MGM (is that Crescent Lake?), The Boardwalk and the Tower of Terror at MGM. I also could see the Swan. I wonder if the lake view is the other side of the building where you can see the Epcot fireworks. We were told we couldn't see those from our room.

Thanks Sherri :D

I thought the fireworks view was a resort view as well. Hopefully I'll get an answer when I phone the S/D.

Mustangdi, what view did you reserve? Did you pay for a Lake View room? It seems most folks just reserve a standard view or a resort view.

Anyone else have any input? :D :D

We were in the east wing, last room on the hall being a corner room with balcony, resort view. We loved our room. (it was the first balcony in the upper right when you are coming from the boardwalk). We overlooked a good portion of boardwalk and the waterways, and had the big Epcot ball straight ahead in the background. To the left we could see the Dolphin, the boat dock, and a few of the Dolphin fountains. I asked for a resort view room with view of the fireworks, the highest floor with a balcony. I know that our room is also a "water view". I am willing to bet that a lot of the rooms have overlapping "views" stated for their physical locations. I had heard that "water" view could be of the lake, the waterways, or the pool. This is the same policy as the regular Disney resorts, water being water in any form. I know there isn't a room number map like many of the Disney resorts. Don't let this drive you insane! You're going to love the Swan and Dolphin!

Let the resort know what your room intentions are and I am sure they can be accomdating! I would rank your choices in order when you talk to them so they know what is most important to you.

You have indeed been very helpful. Did you prefer the Swan or the Dolphin?
:sunny:

I loved the Swan! That is not to say that I am "this close" to booking at the Dolphin while the rate is lower knowing that when we go the rooms will be finished! We treated them as one in the same when it came to where we were going to eat, where the kids hung out, etc etc. If I were going this week, I would pay extra and book the Swan. Those heavenly beds are really heavenly! Knowing that the Dolphin will be done by the time we are able to vacation as a family again, if I booked today I would book the Dolphin at the lower rate knowing I would get the heavenly bed upon arrival!

If we booked concierge again, I would go with the Swan if only to see Thabo again. He is truly a lovely and gracious man. My children loved him and loved to visit with him when they were in the lounge.

If we went sans children, I think I'd book one of those Dolphin King turret rooms. They sound quite romantic and after 18 years I could use some of that! :)

My kids (9 and 17) loved the hammocks in the sand, the grotto pool, even the quiet pools! Ever since the hotel lap pools in Europe they've taken to spending at least part of their time doing the "European lap swim" thing.

Try Palio for a great meal! Remember that Tubbi's is open 24 hours when you get that hamburger craving.

Enjoy your trip!

#1hockeymom,
Do you know when the rennovations at the Dolphin will be completed?

I believe someone posted last week that the construction was on the fifth floor and working up. Someone please correct me if I am wrong! I am sure someone else can give much better information than I can on this subject. There are a bunch of Swan/Dolphin DISmembers about to leave on their respective vacations. Watch the Swan/Dolphin main thread for more information! :)

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful,
Debbie

You must have been reading my mind, #1hockymom. I was just thinking the same thing, book the Dolphin now that the rate is lower:D Do you happen to know whether the Dolphin will have the Same decor as the Swan?

It is my understanding that the room decor will be "similar" but "different". The Dolphin bed will not be called "heavenly bed" but will be the same type of bed and bedding under a different name. One of the resorts is a Westin property, while the other is a Sheraton. They both are starwood properties. They both have different names for their top of the line bedding. I know this doesn't help much, I am sorry! I know that there are people who have peeked into the renovated rooms. I would post this question on the main Swan/Dolphin thread for more information.

Thanks #1HOCKEYMOM

I have been reading all the Swan/Dolphin post, well I'm just blurry eyed.
I think I'll take a break and add to their post.:D

When I peeked into a Dolphin renovated room a couple of weeks ago, the walls were painted with soft pink and off-white stripes. I thought it was a big improvement. The curtains were off white with teal trim as were the head boards. The bedspreads also were a teal color, but I wonder if they will get the fluffy white Heavenly Bed spreads that the Swan has. I stayed in a SF Westin last year with the same spreads as the Swan. My inlaws were staying at the Swan. They had the nice heavenly beds and the decor was nice but somewhat non-descript. The only thing that stuck in my mind from the Swan was a long entertainment center/dresser and the bathroom was bigger. I prefer the Dolphin though because it had a separate vanity area outside of the bathroom. Plus the room is a littler roomier.

Hi! When I spoke with the executive office last week I was told that the rooms were indeed soft pink and white and that they were on the 5th floor and moving up.

I did just what you are thinking of doing: booked the Dolphin with the cheaper rate knowing I would get a rennovated room.

Enjoy your planning and trip.

Thanks SWILPHIL:D

Did the newly renovated Dolphin rooms seem to be the same furnishings newly painted, or a complete change as in the Swan rooms? Sorry if it seems as though I'm picking your brain.:teeth:

Belle--The headboards seemed like they were just painted. Teal trim instead of pineapples.:Pinkbounc

I didn't notice any other changes, but I didn't think to look. Sorry:smooth:

Thanks swilphil

I wish I could remember details. I'm sure photo's will soon surface.:D
