Now that our November CBR ressies are goofed up, I need to rethink our whole vacation.....I never hear alot about the hotels in DD.....anybody out there have any knowledge of the best/worst....do they have a disney feel to them.....what about the transportation to the parks.....good? bad?.....there seem to be some good rates....thanks

I thought that those "high-rises" were considered DD hotels....what am I thinking of? I thought there was disney transportation from those hotels.....Epcotmom, set me straight please!!! Susan

Susan, you are correct, those are the Downtown Disney hotels. Click here to go to the DTD resort area hotel information. I can't tell you too much, just yet, but I will in a couple of weeks. ;)

What I do know, is that the DTD hotels have onsite priveleges: enight, transportation, dining reservations, tickets etc. The hotels' buses go on a specific schedule, and seem to be coaches(?), rather than the Disney "city bus". Going to MK, drop-off is at TTC, but at the other parks, I'm not sure exactly where the drop-off points are.

I'm certain that others have more info, but clicking on the link above may answer most of your questions.

BTW, I got the Courtyard for $20.02(M-Th) and $72 (F-S). That leaves me a lot of money to buy any magic that can't be had by being with the people you love!! :p

I put that link into my "favorites".....I can't wait to look at all of it.... are you going in a couple of weeks? Do tell.....this is much appreciated.....Susan

Debbie-

How'd you get $72 for Fri/Sat nights at the Courtyard? I did get the $20.02 rate for S-Th, but the best I could do with F/S was 89.99 w/a AAA discount. Anything special I should ask for to get the lower rate? Thanks.

The DTD hotels are a great low cost alternative to the high rates on site.

I've been inside the Hilton, the Courtyard by Marriott, the Grovesnor, and the Wyndham palace. I think the nicest one is the Wyndham. I would not consider the Grovesnor no matter what the price.

The best deal going is the Courtyard $20 special. Even Priceline can't beat that. The room you'll get will be almost the same size as a deluxe on site, but without the upgrades. It's your basic Marriott hotel room. If you need a hotel just to "sleep", you are sacrificing nothing. If you spend a lot of time in your room and you expect luxury, this hotel is not for you. I'd definitely pay $20 a night for this place but not $100. I'd rent a 3 bedroom vacation home for the same price instead.
