What is the most amount of points you ever lost?

never lost any points...but happy to see that i am not the only one that is always in a constant state of borrowin:cool1:

Lost 3 pts last year, Waitlist came thru the day before our arrival changed ressie and we lost 3 pts and could not bank'em...Shawnpirate:

I hope to never lose points! My parents I believe didn't buy enough points and all they ever do is borrow. I don't think they've ever had to bank points.

As for me, I just bought 200 points towards AKV, which obviously means I got 200 incentive points as well which expire in October. About half of my regular 200 points will be going towards our trip in May, and I hope I don't forget to bank the rest! As for the incentive points, I'm using 144 points towards Williamsburg in September, and gave my friend 55 to use in February at SSR. So I'll be losing 1 incentive point...although technically I guess it doesn't count since it's free points. I can't say that I'm upset about it.

We will loose about 30 DP's. I have tried to give them away to a friend, but she hasn't answered me yet. I do not plan on every loosing ou rreg DVC points!!! We have 300 BLT points, and I'm sure we will be using them all, especially since for the next few years we will have to go during the Summer (june) since DS will be in High School next year.

It's funny but in my opinion rather than lose points, let say 10 or less, get on the rent trade boards and transfer them at $10 or $11 a point to another DVC Member who is short just a few points. That way you no one loses.

I never lose points, I'm always begging, borrowing and paying for transfers. I never rent, I purchase points for transfer and then handle my own reservation.

Then you need to explain transferring points to me. :rotfl: I was thinking today...maybe I will try to do a trade/transfer for some points. It all confuses me really. If we need points for this July trip.....what am I looking for. If I get more than I need and need to say bank them.......how does that come into play?? MY banking window is May 31st but doesn't it have to to do with the person transferring them to me??

Beaslyboo,

I have to ask, what is the difference between renting out your points and trading them? I`m new to this, and a bit confused. Also, I`m curious about the beasly name. Beasley is my maiden last name.

Beaslyboo,

Also, I`m curious about the beasly name. Beasley is my maiden last name.

My name is Beatrice (Thanks Mom) so rather than have people always butcher my name, I was nicknamed Bea for short. Then, when the show Family Affair came out the Mrs. Beasly Doll gained popularity and much to my dismay my so called friends started calling me Beasly and then later morfed it into Beaslyboo! :rotfl:

The difference between renting and a point transfer is:

1. People who transfer, usually transfer all of the points they have extra that they wont use.

2. When the transfer is done to let say my account, then I can manipulate my own reservation, I'm not at the mercy of someone else to keep me informed.

3. As an owner who rents point, the owner has to keep calling and inquiring about availability and is most times dealing with non DVC members. Imagine if you have 100 points to get rid of, how many calls are you going to have to make to satisfy people needs. Transfering is one agreement and one call. You have the right to one free transfer per UY (Pretty sure)

4. When I purchase transfer points I deal with another DVC Member, I go through Paypal, I can see their Paypal History and join date and I also look at their history on the disboards. If someone has a lot of posts and their signature has all of the vacations they've taken and their home resort listed, I feel pretty comfortable that these people are legit and not setting out to defraud.

Perfect example, At the last minute I had friends who wanted to come and stay with us while we are at BWV in June, I had only 12 points left, so I looked at the boards for Points to transfer I found someone who wanted to get rid of 66 points they weren't going to use. So we contacted each other, I sent the $660 through Paypal, then I e-mailed her my full name and Membership number. She received the notice from Paypal and called MS and transferred in the points. E-mailed me back that it was done, I called MS and finished my reservation. All done in less than 20 minutes for the both of us. Then the Confirmation letter comes to me directly, no one else is involved.

Renting is a long on-going process of checking different resorts for availability, etc. it time consuming and frustrating, I don't want my vacation under the control of someone else. However, some points can't be transferred, like developer points etc.

You want to make a reservation but you are short 4 points, you want to use the balance of your points but if you rent you can't do that you have to rent the exact amount for the days you are looking for. Some one comes along who has exactly those 4 points that they aren't going to use. They transfer them to you, you combine them with your remaining points, it's a win win!

One of the DVCr's (Diane) even transfered a few extra points to a friend in need without looking for payments, more a a pay it forward thing) I think that's a great idea and a wonderful thing to do!

I have lost 5 points, I miscalculated at the time. But hey 5 points is nothing for me to worry about, it was awhile ago. Now... I triple check all my math.

I have a question, is easy to transfer points from one DVC member to another?, are we allowed to do that?

I ask b/c I buy just the necessary amount to go every other year, so, I also will be in that same "borrowing state".

But maybe I could want to stay more days than those I bought points for, so I could be interested in buy a transfer, but what could be "cheaper" for me: paying one or two extra nights on cash, or paying for transfer points?

I lost 42 points one year, have 12 points I have to bank by tomorrow. The last few years we have been in a borrowing - banking frenzy. We have put up the points for 7 trips in the last 2 years and with all the changes from resort, room size, dates etc I have 12 points left in my 2008 year and have borrowed 237 of my 2009 year. I hoping the next year or 2 that children and other family members will allow us to let MS catch their breath from having to hear my lovely voice on the phone with another change. Besides I want to do another nice trip with my husband next year for his 55th birthday so it's hands off my points til then, we're actually going to use them for ourselves hahahaha.

thus far none, hope my streak isn't broken this year:rolleyes1

we went to disneyland last year (paid cash) and DH talked me into booking a last minute alaskan cruise this June

ive got banked points tied up in ressie i need to cancel & brave the rental board:headache:

worst case, i wonder if make a wish (or another worthy charity) would take either the points or ressie? anybody knowpopcorn::or have contact info?

2 points for me ... and that's from cancelling, rebooking, borrowing, cancelling again and rebooking. wow, did i learn a lesson.
2 points

I lost 8 this year as we did a resale add on and they had 8pts from 07 banked that I couldn't use. We had our trip plan and for 8pts wasn't willing to risk getting the ressie screwed up to reallocate pts. I'm not too bent about it as I feel we got a great deal. I also used my one transfer this UY.

We haven't lost any points yet. We're in an almost full state of borrowing at this time. I think we have 1 point left in our Aug 2009 Use Year! lol

None, we will actually make a vacation if we have to keep from losing points.

Our life pretty much revolves around making, planning, and taking Disney vacations so those points are high on our radar-we're always looking at them.

DH (especially) and I both work really hard; Disney is our escape!
