What is the longest you left your cats home alone

Without getting checked on, 2 nights was the limit. I have a timer feeder for wet food, a big bowl of dry food and two bowls of water. Any longer than that, we would have someone check on her or bring her to my sister's house. Now she's old and sick, so we board her with our vet if it's more than one night but still leave plenty of water and food.

Ot but where did you find a feeder for wet food it sounds like a wise investment for me

2 nights. Any more than that we have gotten someone to come in and feed them or boarded them.
Same here when possible. We always seem to have issues with older cats needing daily medication, so then we have to board them at the vet, since many of the boarding places are not prepared to pill or give insulin shots to cats.

We use an automatic 'kitty proof' feeder for dry food (he gets fed 1/4 cup each time which iss two times per day) and then someone comes over each day to feed him his can of wet food so 3 feedings total throughout the day (2 dry 1 wet).

We also have a water fountain. He needed that to encourage him to drink more water. Plus when we used to leave a water dish out and he was annoyed with us this is what would happen:

The above picture is before we got an automatic dry food feeder and before we got a water fountain. He would knock over his food and water bowls when annoyed with us.

Longest we have been gone is 10 days but someone comes over everyday to 1) feed him the wet food 2) fill up the water in the water fountain to the line marked so that the motor doesn't get damaged 3) every 2 days we are gone to clean his litter box 4) if he's up for it with the person coming over (usually my mom) to play a few mins with him with his numerous toys he has

Our litter box is enclosed and is designed where you roll it and a pull out drawer catches stuff so you're not in there actually scooping.

We have to board them or we hire our kids friends to come over and empty litter and feed them. We pay $15 per visit. It helps them with college.

We leave ours for 2-3 days without someone coming in to check on them and clean litter boxes. We just put out extra food, and we have two 1-gallon gravity fed waterers (for 3 cats) so they have everything they need. That's part of why I'm a cat person. The cats and bunnies are pretty self-sufficient for short periods of time. Our dog, on the other hand, doesn't even like being left alone for a whole work day.

Those who had someone we don't I might look into care.com so midnight does not have to leave his home I well just give them dhs key he does not need it back in a timely manner like I do

I had looked into getting automatic feeders and water dispensers, but I was afraid they would malfunction and leave the cats to starve and dehydrate!

Three days, three cats, but when we got home the one who is most attached to me dropped a big ol' turd right at my feet. I guess he was upset I went away. :crazy2:

These days, I wouldn't. He's now sixteen years old. He's not as limber any more and he sometimes gets stuck in places and has to be rescued. He has to be encouraged to eat, or he just won't. But even if he wasn't in the picture... while I know cats can usually manage just fine for a couple nights on their own, I've come around to the point where I strongly prefer having someone stop by at least once a day to check on them.

I tested the timer one before we went away. Now I use it everyday so she gets fresh food while we're at work and also during the night.

We have left our boys for 2 or 3 nights with plenty of food and water. I make sure the bedroom doors are closed, or if we leave doors open I put a big bath towel over the top so they can't be blown closed accidentally. Also, we always leave the toilet lid up and the bathroom door propped open, just in case something happens to their water bowls; at least they could get water from the toilet (NOT encouraging it, but as an emergency backup- better than dehydrated kitties).

Of course, now they are 17 and Potter has to be coaxed to eat (takes about 30-45 minutes, morning and night), so I'd never leave them alone anymore.

9 days is the longest for us. We have 2 huge gravity feeders for dry food and 2 for water. Plus a hug every litter boxes in every single room

If we are gone more than a long weekend I have a friend check on them. They have an auto water thing that hold about 3/4 of a gallon and we have 2 auto feeders- one for each cat.
