We have stayed at OKW before but never have a car. And we will not have a car this time either. I know that the tiffany car service will stop on the way from the aiport to allow you to get groceries. But when we are at OKW what is the most inexpensive way to go to a grocery store and get groceries without making it a whole day transferring ordeal. Too bad OKW doesnt have a shuttle that runs to grocery stores a couple times a day.

The store at OKW will have the basics, especially if you have a short trip or plan to mostly eat out. If you have a larger family, longer stay or plan not to eat out much; a grocery trip may be beneficial. A cab to Goodings or Publix would be worth in if you need a fair amount of stuff. I don't know what the costs will be for that. For this much, the longer and more costly trip to Publix is still worthwhile I'd think. You can take many things with you and have other shipped from home or someplace like netgrocer. I don't think any of the ones in the area deliver.

If you won't have a car, a towncar with a grocery stop is still likely beneficial. And the grocery related issues would pay most of that cost and a large portion of a car for the stay.

Goodings will deliver to OKW and other resorts for a minimum order of $50 with a $10 service charge. The delivery charge might be cheaper than a taxi; you can order online at their site: www.goodings.com and click "Online shopping."

Goodings offers a grocery delivery service and will deliver to the resorts at WDW. I have not ever used it, but looked into it before we decided to rent a car last trip. I believe there is a $50 minimum order, a $5 or $10 delivery fee and you can order online. They also have a website that gives more info on this.

oops! Beacher and I were typing at the same time!:D

Wow this helps a lot. We wont need it for this upcoming trip but the next trip we will there longer and in a 1 bedroom so we want to cook our own food for a chance-SOUNDS SORT OF ODD DOESNT IT. HAHAHA

I didn't realize that Goodings would do delivery though $50 there is about $30- $35 worth at Publix. I think one of the Albertson's on the way from the airport will accept a fax and have it ready for pick up or so I've seen it posted.

Does anyone know if one of the transportation systems will stop at Albertson's. I know that Tiffany town Car will stop at Cash and Carry.

I have stopped at Kash-N-Carry, Publix and Albertson's on various trips with various towncar services. If you have a favorite, ask before you leave the airport- I think most are flexible enough to meet such requests.

We stopped at Publix on this trip with FLTours- one the sponsors of the DIS.

I would get a cab. There is a nice grocery store out by the "side" entrance to disney (across from the Downtown Disney Area). It is about a 5 min ride from OKW, and should be worth the transportation cost if the above options don't work.

y2khardtop thank you so much for the map! I'm not the OP but that helped me for my trip this fall incredibly!

:D

How far of a walk from downtown disney would the grocery store be.

If you are conscious about funds, steer clear of Goodings. They are outrageously overpriced. We always use TTC and stop at Publix. We have never tried any of the other chains. Is there a Winn-Dixie nearby? I have their "bonus card" so that may be beneficial. I believe when we went to Goodings (from OKW) it was $8 EACH way. That was a few years back, so I am sure it went up a little.

Anyone know which Lynx bus stops at the Publix store. If we were to take Lynx from TTC.

to see which Albertsons the driver would prefer to stop at...we're doing the pre-fax order too.

He said that we want the Albertsons at Highway417 and Orange Blossom Trail phone (407)857-5666, fax (407) 857-0132.
Most people that use the grocery stop go to Publix, but he agreed that the pre-faxing is certainly a time saver.

Go to www.albertsons.com you can create a grocery list quite easily that can be faxed to them ( i just used the Dallas store area - there isn't online ordering available in MCO yet) The girl at Albertsons that I talked to asked us to please indicate if store brand substitution was ok (if requested brand unavailable), quantity, and size of items...they bag it all up, and you go to the customer service desk to pay. You can also add to you order once you arrive. They also asked that we put our names, arrival time, and town car company at the top of each page...that way, if we're delayed they could keep everything stored properly.

HTH!!:sunny:

Anyone know if Kash - n - Carry has a websit or can be pre-ordered.
