How are these restaurants different and which do you think is better if one does not like Sushi or fish? Thanks! We are trying to decide between the two!

We have not dined at Tokyo Dining.

Teppan Edo is a hibachi grill restaurant. You have the chef cooking on the grill in front of a group of 10 (I think it's 10) guests. So if you are a party of less than 10, then you may make some new friends.

We love Teppan Edo. I think that sushi might be available on the menu, but that isn't the focus. It's grilled veggies, seafood, chicken, and meat. It's good food and a fun dining experience.

You can check out the specific menus at Allearsnet.com

I believe Teppan Edo is a Japanese Steak House where the chef prepares the meal in front of you.

Tokyo Dining seems to be about sushi and tempura.

We have never tried either but we are definately going to Teppan Edo in Sept. :)

So then is Tokyo Dining sort of a more traditional sit-down at a table and the food is brought out to you where as Teppan Edo is more like a Benihana's where you sit at the grill and watch the chef make your food? I did look up the menus and they seemed pretty similar so that was why I was asking! I was confused.:upsidedow

Never been to Toyko Dining, but you are right about Teppan Edo being like a Benihana's

YES! Teppan Edo has the hibachi grills and your food is prepared in front of you. Tokyo dining is a typical restaurant where the food is brought out to you.

Some seats at Tokyo Dining are right at the window facing the lagoon. A nice indoor place to watch, but not as good as the outdoor seats at Rose and Crown. :goodvibes Great food!

I have eaten at both Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining.

Teppan Edo is a teppanyaki/hibachi restaurant - you order your meal and the chef cooks it on the hot plate in front of you. Everything you order as an entree here is oriented toward simply grilled meats/seafood (although sushi and tempura are avaiable as appetisers/sides. You are seated at the hibachi with other people and your food is served as the chef cooks it.

Tokyo dining is a smaller room at the front, more in the traditional western style of restaurant, where you sit at your own table and the food is brought to you by your server when the table's complete order is ready to be served.

There are more options for sushi or tempura on this menu (deep fried stuff -veggies/meat/seafood) but also traditionally grilled steak with a choice of sauces. We had tempura as an appetiser (excellent - light, crisp, dry, tasty) and then grilled Teriyaki Strip Steak. It was very nice. We were seated by the sushi prep area and got to watch the chefs preparing all the sushi - very fun to watch but a bit fishy smelling at times!

If you like Sushi I would choose Tokyo Dining, if you want meat I would choose Teppan Edo.

Hope this helps!

It really did! Thank you so much! I think we will go with Teppan Edo as no one in my family likes Sushi and several of us can't do fish so it sounds like Teppan Edo would be best. Thanks for the great descriptions! It's what I was looking for.
