Hi,
I see on some threads where there is talk about decorating you room door? Is this for christams, or pictures, can some one explain?
Thanks

That's just what it is... just decorating your door!!!

thanks - but wasn't sure if it was for the holiday's - I guess I was looking to see what people do to there doors, some suggestions. thanks

This thread has tons of examples of what people do to their doors.

It's a fun way to personalize your space. You can make signs according to who is traveling, if there are any significant celebrations (birthday, anniversary, graduation, etc), which port you are in that day, the theme of the evening, just about anything that expresses your personality. A lot of us put lime green Mickey heads on our door to identify that we are from the DIS boards. It is by no means a requirement, but just a fun way to enhance your cruise. It also helps finding your cabin in a long hallway where everything looks alike.

Here's my door from this summer's Transatlantic

LOVE your decorations! Juanita was my Mom's name. I don't see it often.

How do you post images on here if they're not stored on a website somewhere? Mine are in a file on my computer but I can't figure out how to upload them here. Can you assist?

Decorating your door is just another way to add a little fun to your cruise! People have made signs with favorite characters, or to identify themselves as a DISer - whatever you want, for any time of year.

I just came back from a Cruise, and the majority of doors were not decorated. I chose to decorate mine because I thought it would be fun, and I enjoyed making the signs. It's also a nice way to find your door in a long corridor - just look for your decorations.

It's not a necessity, just fun if you like that kind of thing!

Juanita is my mom's name too. Was supposed to be the Native American spelling Wanita, but when the county recorded her birth, they spelled it Juanita and my grandmother never bothered to correct it.

You can't post a pic without it being stored. I used photobucket.com but there is also a DIS photo site http://www.wdwinfo.com/photopost/index.php
You have to upload the pic from your computer, then get the web address once it's uploaded.

LOVE the photo of your door.... a GREAT one!

Welcome to the DIS and the DCL forums. Many DISers use door magets as a way to express their love of Disney and cruising. You've already gotten some great links explaining the door magets. We love to use them to also make it easy to find our room. :)

I had never heard of door decorating until I saw it mentioned here. Never saw any decorated doors on our cruise on the Magic either, and there were DIS board folks on board.

I want to do this, but I was wondering, are the doors at the All-stars Magnetic? I have these print out magnetic sheets that I got somewhere, and I thought that these would be good to use. Any thoughts???
:confused3

Just beware that any personal information on your door is a security hazzard.

I'd rather have a plain white door which is easily overlooked.

Disney is extremely safe. But, why invite danger, just to boost your own ego?

If you were to call the operator and ask for "Paul's" room number, they would give it too you, so not sure not decorating the door increases any risk. While the ship in my opinion is a far safer environment than home, I think parents should supervise their children just like they do at home, without regard to whether your decorate your door or not.

The operator would not give out the names and ages of children in the room and whether there are any adults in the room. That's the kind of information that people put on their door signs that can be used against you.

Use your common sense! Do you decorate every hotel that you stay in? I'd rather be safe that "cute" any day.

Suggestion: Decorate the INSIDE of your cabin door.

If you feel that way, then you can still decorate outside - just don't put people's names all over...

I'm personally going with my Dis name and some characters...

that is what we did. we just put our family name and some fun disney character photos. we have 2 young kids and safety is something to think about. i didn't want to advertise on my door that there were children (or put their photos on any photos on the door) in the room. anyhow, it turned out really cute - says "The Lightfoot family"

We've always used our DISnames on our door decor. The kids had fun adding to our door decorations each morning (we've done 7 day cruises). Plus, they love to walk around the ship and see what decorations others have done. On both cruises we've done, there were MANY people with decorated doors on each level we walked through.
