This popped into my head because today I just used mine. We use it only like 2x a year.

We have a chandelier in our foyer that is 20' feet up. We have a motor in the ceiling that lowers it to a height where you can clean it and change bulbs while standing on the floor of the foyer.

A walk-in linen closet.

Not my current house, but a place I rented when I was younger had a clothes chute from my walk in closet on the third floor master bedroom to the laundry room on the second floor.

Kimya

My kitchen island. I can cook and watch tv at the same time. Two of my fave things. Nothing better than that.

Oh, and my bedroom window faces my cul-du-sac. That way I can watch all my neighbors whenever I want and I can see when the JW's come over too.

washer and dryer in our master bedroom closet. No more walking up and down steps to do the laundry! :cool1:
It's over a garage so if something should go wrong all that would get showered is my husband's rarely used tools.

I priced that motor mechanism for our 19 ft. ceiling. The guy at the lighting store told me it would cost about $500 in addition to the fixture and that it was really too difficult to install in an existing home.

There isn't anything that spectacular about our home. It's just overall a great place...3500 sq. ft. with a good layout. The laundry room is far enough from the living room that the noise isn't too much when it's running. The new dishwasher we installed last year is very quiet... so quiet that you can't tell it's running unless you look at the timer on it.

We have a hottub sunken into the back deck that has access directly from the master bedroom...which means that I can slip right from the hottub to the master bath without dripping water all over the living room.

I don't think we'll ever have a house quite this nice again...mostly because we could never afford this nice a place anywhere but Mississippi.

It's MINE!!!

Seriously, it's the 55 linear feet of closets on the main floor...So many...Yeah!!! :thumbsup2

I love our house.

We are only me and DH and the 2 cats...no kids ever for us so it's 1250 square feet upstairs and we have a storage room and another craft/exercise room downstairs as well as a 1 bedroom aprtment we rent out that has it's own entrance and drive-way...

It's actually the house I was born in. Dad built it and sold it when i was 11 months old, right after i took my first steps in the livingroom. When I was at university, he bought it again and reno'd it for rentals. He put in new windows, doors, roof, siding, and redid the kitchen.

In October, he sold it to us for a steel (I am Daddy's little girl after all... :teeth: ) and all we did was redo the floors and paint it...It looks amazing and even our friends with bigger/newer houses love it and always end up here.

Best part, I get to save my money for DISNEY!!! I have a lot of friends who have big houses but can't afford to go anywhere. I don't ever want to be house-rich but cash-poor. :rolleyes1

Sadly, it's the laundry chute. Makes laundry so much easier. That's it. That's all that's "cool" about my house. Whoever built this house put in absolutely no extras. No vaulted ceilings, no skylights, no light fixtures even. :sad2:

I know if you asked my middle DS he would say it was him!! If you ask me, its having a laundry room off my kitchen. It use to be in the garage and there is nothing worse than doing laundry in your winter coat!

We have a trap door right out in the middle of a room (you'd *never* know it looking right at the spot) that leads to a secret chamber built underneath our house. We learned about it in a horrifying way :scared1: on the night we moved in (Halloween week-end) when neighborhood teenagers broke into our home at 1 a.m. We didn't have cars in the drive or curtains at the windows. They didn't know anyone was here and used the secret chamber to enter our house for a Halloween party. They had been friends with the teens who lived here before and learned about the chamber then. Until we found out it was neighborhood kids, I was the most terrified I've ever been in my life. I kept telling DH we were going to be murdered right in our bed. Reason I believed this was because we had NO POWER and I though the intruders had cut our power lines and were coming in to kill us!!! No, a wreck had knocked out a transformer...just a coincidence. Anyway, it was a horrible first night and one we'll never forget.

We have a pretty normal home I guess. Our COOLEST feature would be that we have a second garage that is heated. I don't remember the square footage, but it could hold 6 cars easily. THe kids love it! They can ride bikes and play in it during the winter. Also even our trampoline fits in it even with the barriers. So the kids can use it all year round too. No flames for the trampoline please.

I don't have any cool features (except for my dishwasher, doesn't take much to make me happy) but I have to say I think YOUR feature is the coolest thing I have heard of!

My kitchen- well it's my Mommy's kitchen (Dad's too but Mommy uses it more ;) )

We have a heated ceramic floor (thanks to my Dad), a 6 burner industrial gas stove (6,000,000 BTU's or something), 2 Thermadore ovens, a quiet dishwasher and 6 electrical outlets in the center island whoohooo

The kitchen was completed last summer and it is seriously amazing. My Mommy cooks A LOT :thumbsup2

ETA- on second thought it might be the onyx (stone) covered fireplace. I love cuddling up in front of it and it really is something different. I can't decide... my house should really be in a home design magazine :teeth:

We have these faucets that if you use the left one, hot water comes out and if you use the right one, cold water comes out.

It's pretty nifty! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

We thought about making secret underground tunnels in the backyard, but were worried our neighbors might think us odd.

i think the coolest thing in my house is either the fireplace (just love having that...even in florida!) and the remote controlled ceiling fan/light. i just think that is too cool...i have a remote for the living room light. :lmao: BTW, i didn't install it, it was here when we got the place.

Um, that it's just ours! We were living with a roomate but had the op to move into a condo beachside, so off we went. We've been there just about a month now and love it. The best "feature" you could say is that we have views of the cruise terminal from the building and we can see the Magic/Wonder pull in each morning and leave each evening. We also have a main door to the condo (it's a three story place, all inside coridors) that people can call us and we can buzz them in... so neat. Now I just gotta ask someone how we program our condo in...lol

What is the purpose of this hidden room? You say that kids used it to enter your home so it also has a door to the outside?

My favorite features would be my huge tub in my bathroom and also that we have alleys behind our homes to our garages. I never saw alleys when I lived in Houston and I just love them!

ilovecot - now that is cool!

Planogirl - I love alleys too! Not sure why, I've just always lived in cities that had them and I like them. I *HATE* places where you have to put the garbage out on the sidewalk in front of the house or business!

My best feature is a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. My DH wired speakers into the bathroom so you can listen to music, soak in the tub and look at the stars through the skylight.
Only problem is that if I use it when I awake, I have company.....DD and puppy love the water!! :thumbsup2 If I use it after they go to sleep, I fear relaxing too much and drowning. :rotfl2: So I use it about twice a year. So sad. :guilty:
