What is the "boardwalk?"

Everyone on here keeps talking about the boardwalk. Is it a hotel, shopping, or what? I have never heard of it and I want to go. Please let me know what this is and where.

'The Boardwalk' typically refers to the area surrounding Disney's Boardwalk Inn and Villas Resort. There are several restaurants and shops as well as other activities. The Disney site has a fairly good decription of this area including a map. You'll find it here:
