What is the "BEST" flat iron

My hairstylist recommended BaByliss to me and I found one on Amazon. I absolutely love it!!

I just purchased a Chi 1" flat iron from BJ's wholesale for $79.99. The same one was at Target for $120. I used it for the first time this evening on DD6 hair.. I washed it last nite. Put in into 2 pigtails braided. She went to school. When she got home I undid the braid and used the flat iron. It was soo much easier than I thought it would be. I did forget to use a bit of hair jel first- rec by my stylist.

DD6 has absolutely gorgeous curly hair but she hates it! I spend soo much $$ making mine curly it is crazy. Her hair is soo nice and thick. She loves the look. It cost me $24 last month when she went in for a cut and my stylist said lets straigthen it. DD LOVED it. The stylist rec a Chi 1" flat iron.

soo glad I wandered in to the H/B section of BJ wholesale otherwise I would not have gotten such a great deal.

Blow dry it as opposed to letting it air dry? DD showers in the evening, lets her hair air dry over night then straightens it in the morning. If she washed her hair in the morning, used a blow dryer, then straightened it, it would take her close to 2 hours to get ready every morning :lmao:.

If I do DD's hair, it takes me about 1.5-2 hours. I'll do it at night and then touch it up in the AM. My hair is thinner and will take about an hour so I can do it in the AM. I don't wash it for minimum 3 days afterwards. I'll keep touching up my hair and unless it gets oily or I'm walking through tons of smoke, there's no need to wash for 4-5 days.

I've also blow dried it at night and then flat ironed in the morning. It's just the only way I've found that will get it pin, pin straight and silky and keeps it that way.

I forgot to renew my card this year, so if I went, it might cost the same with renewal:headache:.

Sometimes BJ's has a 30 day shopping pass that u can use. That would eliminate your renewal. Ask at the front desk for one. I have seen the coupons around somewhere but at the moment I have no clue where!:lmao:

good luck!

I think someone with really thick long hair needs a bigger surface than a 1" flat iron to do the job quicker and more efficiently. JMHO

i dont straighten my hair, but a few of my friends have GHD's and swear by them. they've tried other brands before too.

The issue isn't so much that she can't get her hair straight, it is just how LONG it takes. Maybe there isn't anything you can do about that.

I'm a stylist, and GHD brought us a straightener to play with while marketing, but I stuck with my CHI. My hair is uber thick (my ponytail's a couple inches in circumference) and curly, and it does the job for me. I can straighten my midlength hair in about 30 minutes (a few inches past my shoulders).

OP mentioned DD used CHI product. While I LOVE their tools, Farouk really has a lot to improve upon in their product (plus, totally personal, I think they smell like cheap cologne). I recommend BioSilk Silk Therapy. Paul Mitchell's Skinny serum didn't work quite as well with my hair, but is a comparable alternative.

I have a Sedu. I love it. it heats up in 30 seconds. They sell it on Folica and it comes with a 2-year warranty.
