The doors have automatic closers. Our first cruise (without bungee cords) we tried everything to keep them open and nothing seemed to work. We brought the cords (you need 2 of them, one for each door) the next time around and they worked great.

Thanks. We're going with our son and daughter-in-law and our grandkids (girl age 5 and boy age 3). So looking forward to it. Can't come fast enough. Spending some time at disney then the cruise.

We took these on our last cruise and came back the first night and our room steward had removed them and put simple door stops down for us. They worked great! Does DCL still provide complimentary door stops for connecting rooms?

Just got back from the 4 day Wonder and I have to say thank you to everyone posting helpful tips on this thread. I found the over the door shoe holders invaluable, the 3M hooks were fantastic for hanging bathing suits, and we had adjoining rooms so having bungee cords allowed us to keep the doors between the rooms open so DH and I could get the kids to sleep, bungee the doors open so my mother could watch them without having to be in the same room, and allow us some much needed grown up time!

To get up about 7AM and watch and wait for the CM's to put out the deck chairs around the pool. Immediately run and place as many towels as you can find on a bunch of chairs...just in case you decide you might want to sit by the pool later...but go ahead and reserve a bunch of extras because you might make some friends who'll want to sit with you...:duck:

please don't flame me...this is a JOKE

PACK NYQUIL & DAYQUIL!!!!!!

I'm on the 15 night Panama Canal Cruise and we've had a cold/upper respiratory thing going around... just like a cold but not as achy... If I hadn't brought my own cold meds...I'd have been screwed... they don't have as much on board... Nyquil, yes, Dayquil, no.

But the cruise has been GREAT!!!!! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

I thought of another one I wish I had known about on our first...

If it matters to you...before you board the ship a picture is taken of your family and/or group. You may want to dress in something special or matching for the picture. We didn't our first cruise and we looked weird together...the outfits clashed (I know, I know PUH-leezze! hey, I'm an artist...these things matter to me.) So now we wear matching, or at least coordinating, outfits or something to tie us all together for our embarkation photo. For our '05 Christmas cruise we all wore Santa hats. It was cute. The hats came out later during the cruise too. ;)

Just my $.02

Do you guys realize that I started this thread THREE years ago this month?:) And over 72,000 people have viewed it? Wow, I can't believe it hasn't died yet.

Great tips! How big of a cooler can you bring on board? Can you take a small cooler off the ship with you (Nassau) for snacks?

.

How about the window on deck 4 where you can see into the AP galley?

How about the blue anchors on the floor lead you forward and the red lead you aft. And red and aft both have 3 letters to help you remember!

would have love to know both of these last week!

Except on the starboard side of Deck 6!!! They laid the carpet the wrong way!!! :rotfl2: (I'm sure they will fix it when it goes into drydock this fall....)

Phew, just finished all 36 pages!! Thanks everyone for all the tips. :thumbsup2 I'm 2 years away from my first Disney cruise, but I love to plan and read up!!! :surfweb:
I will keep coming back to see more tips!!

I am sure someone posted this...but it is worth repeating:

Over the Door Shoe Holder!!

Makes storage so much easier!!

I really think the best tip was to bring along a powerstrip. This was truly a lifesaver. There are only 2 outlets by the desk and they are so close together that you cannot plug in 2 powerpacks, and even plugging in one will cover up half of the other outlet so you can't even plug in a regular plug. We plugged in our powerstrip and were able to charge camera, camcorder, laptop, ipod, etc. every night. My DH actually laughed when I packed it at home but he quickly admitted on the cruise that it was the best idea EVER! :lmao:

Best tip: Bring your own hairdryer.

If someone hadn't told me the one provided is useless I'd have spent half my cruise drying my hair.
