What is the "best" CM job at Disneyworld?

I would like to have a combination position, invented for me with my knowledge and experience related to both Disney and being a CPA with extensive internal audit experience.

The job title would be "Freelance Internal Auditor, Devil's Advocate, and Announcer That the Emperor is Not Wearing Any Clothes". I would be a direct report to Meg, the President of WDW.

My duties would be to go into all of the Parks and Resorts, in costume as a Tourist. I would observe what is going on, and talk to both Guests and other Cast Members. I would report back as to what needs improvement, and suggest ways that these improvements can be made.

I would also have the opportunity to review marketing plans prior to implementation, to see what has not been considered (such as the fiasco with the 15/12 AP renewals cutoff date) before public announcement.

Unfortunately this position does not exist, so I have to just stick with Guest Relations, Ticketing, and Greeter.

Totally OT, but I'm an internal auditor, too! I've not met another one on the DIS boards before! And strangely enough (or maybe not so strangely), my dream job mirrors yours.

DH wants to drive a Disney bus...:confused3 Actually, he'd love that type of job.

Me, I'd like to work at one of the resorts checking people in.

Middle son wants to drive a monorail.

Youngest son ~ well, my vote is for him to be a tumble monkey at the Lion King Show. However, he is obsessed with computers... so when he grows up, maybe he can channel that into a Disney job.

Oldest son :cool2: wants a lot of money with very little work...yeah good luck with that.

My DD has worked at several locations at Disney.

Fantasmic (sales) liked it.
Tower of Terror (photos) Liked it.
Rockin Roller Coaster (gift shop) Loved it.
American Idol Experience (crowd control) Was boring.
Animal Kingdom Garden Gate Gifts (sales) Loved it.
Animal Kingdom Carts and Strollers (sales) Hated everything about it.

Her Disney Dream job is anything INSIDE with A/C :lmao:

Her roommate is a "Friend of Mickey" and really likes her job.

For me it would be an I.T. project manager. If you are in FL and in the Parks & Resorts division I imagine you spend some time in your office (which I believe is in Celebration) and also some time in the parks depending on which projects you are currently working.

I'd also love to manage an integration of their internal and customer facing systems because they are in dyer need of it.

Not all of IT (recently renamed "business technology") is in Celebration, some is at Team Disney and some is at AK (no reason, they just have the space).

My DH is a software analyst and his office is at AK. He never has to work onstage or interact with guests.

I had heard they are kind of spread around property. I really wouldn't want to deal with the public. I was more thinking that if you are managing a project that deals with resort check in you'd spend some time at the resort or with the POS systems you might spend time in the parks working or testing with CMs, not the public.

Oh my, I would soooo love to work as a Human Resources director because they really need some help in selecting perky & happy people. It is so easy to make someone's day better, or ruin it with a comment, a look or a small gesture. I would launch secret visitors and secret guests to keep everyone on their toes and toss anyone who wasn't up to my expectations. Disney is about creating a pretend world where the guest is the central character so my motto would be: "If you can't be part of the magic you don't belong in the uniform." The world is full of wanna be actors & actresses, ACTING happy should be part of the job

We talk about this in our family. DD wants to be Mickey in Fantasmic!, DH wants to drive a boat, and I want to be a concierge in the AKL concierge lounge. DS can't decide, but it would probably be something at WWOS.

=simba20;40882612]One of the "people in plaid" GR/tour guide on Main Street...leading the Keys to the Kingdom tour/VIPs/etc in MK. It's the perfect job for me as I love learning (your always learning in that job), it requires good customer service skills, and since I am a bit chatty, it will be like getting paid just to talk with people's out one of my favorite places. However, my guide on the KTTK tour last year said it took her several years to get the position.
Me too. Our tour guide said, it takes many years as a CM, to become a VIP tour guide. I guess you have to pay your dues. My dh has a convention once a year over at the Ritz/Carleton. In the morning, I cannot believe how many VIP tourguides I see from Disney, picking up their VIP guests. I noticed at the Beach Club last month, every morning, a few VIP tourguides waiting around out front too. I talked with one, and she was taking a Father and Son over to one of the golf courses and she had to spend the day, getting them there, registering them and waiting for them to finish golfing-but she said she got to wait in the air conditioning-so it wouldn't be so bad. Now that has to be really paying the big bucks. I know in the parks, you can purchase a VIP service for 6 hours for like $125 an hour. But I wonder how much this cost, to be picked up at your resort.

I would like to be a photographer. It's probably awfully hot in the afternoons though.

My ultimate dream job would be to play the bird in FOTLK. Alas, I'm 40, and even though I still take Ballet classes, my flexibility is not what it used to be, and my en pointe days are over. ;)

During The Year of a Million Dreams, I would have loved to have been on a Dream Squad. I know a couple of CM's who were, and from what they've said, it sounds like it was an incredible job. Spending your day surprising people, and doing things for them that make their Disney experience more magical?? Doesn't get much better than that!

So, I guess I'm left with Epcot Guest Relations. The CM's there are amazing, and even though I'd have to deal with unhappy, and sometimes rude, guests, I still think it would be a great job.

From the Cast Member Clique Perspective, Face>Fur>then everything else. There is an unwritten cast member hierarchy from what I have read.

From a dream job perspective

Me: Tour Guide

DD: Imagineer

DW: Singing

My friend plays several of the characters, but she is most often "working with" Minnie Mouse. She loves it, but I honestly don't think I could do it. I would love to be one of those VIP's with the headsets who walk around looking important!

I would like to drive a safari jeep. Last trip we spent a while talking to the driver b/c he retired from the same place where DH works now. He said he never has to work late b/c they don't keep the safari open too far into the evening b/c of the animals. He also said what he sees changes every new ride out b/c of where the animals are or are not, and b/c there are real animals there is some spontaneity involved.

I'd like to be a safari driver too. That seems like it would lead itself to be the most interesting job on a day-to-day basis. Another job I'd like would be in the Land.

My sister's friend was a CM in Fantasyland, and I think she's at RnR now.

Bus driver. You are in an air conditioned/heated bus with a seat. The worst to me would be parking lot attendant. Outside in the heat/cold/rain.

At a resort checking people in. Preferable an AllStar (they're MY favorite!) but any would do, really. :goodvibes

Or even the one who checks your bag as you into a park, although that could get hot in the summer.

I just love the thought of sending people on their way to a Magical Day! And helping even out the bumps if they are having a not-so-magical moment!

I really enjoyed working as a Main Street Merchandise Hostess at Disneyland. (I never worked for WDW).

I loved it because you got to interact with the guests and it was slow most of the day until closing, so you really had a chance to suggest things and ask how a guest's day was working out for them.

Plus, we were crossed-trained to do Guest Control, so I had a section of guests each night to "control" for the MSEP. Talk about fun! I had the best section, no one complained and no one got out of line. I ruled with an iron fist :rotfl: and made sure people were enjoying the "hooray" contests with the other sections. Also, I was a nanny at the time and had no problem doing the nanny stare to those under the age of three when they acted up.

I would love to be the person that coordinates and reports the goings on in each park for social media purposes. IE, I would love to help run and maintain their social media presence on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, et al. That would be so much fun!
