What is the "best" CM job at Disneyworld?

My dream CM job was to do the narration for the boat ride on Living with the Land. It's now automated so a live person no longer does it :headache:.

I've been trying to think of a second choice, but there's really nothing I would want to do. I'm over customer service (as far as dealing with cranky/inconsiderate people; I could do Living with the Land as the cranky/inconsiderate people don't have a chance to complain or be rude and usually fall asleep anyways :) ), but something that kept me out of the sun and out of the throngs of crowds while still being in a park would be nice (maybe a CM on the TTA).

TTA and The Land are 2 of my fave attractions (PoC rounds out my top 3!)

Oh my, I would soooo love to work as a Human Resources director because they really need some help in selecting perky & happy people. It is so easy to make someone's day better, or ruin it with a comment, a look or a small gesture. I would launch secret visitors and secret guests to keep everyone on their toes and toss anyone who wasn't up to my expectations. Disney is about creating a pretend world where the guest is the central character so my motto would be: "If you can't be part of the magic you don't belong in the uniform." The world is full of wanna be actors & actresses, ACTING happy should be part of the job

:thumbsup2

I would love front desk at a hotel....any hotel!

Also, boat driver, stroller getter after the park closes (as I learned about on the boards today), or in The Land. I also would LOVE to be a research scientist at The Land...working in those offices you see all the stuff in when you go through the greenhouses.

The person that pressure cleans the pool decks/resorts ( You'd always have a job )

Reedy Creek Firefighter

Disney Security K-9 Unit handler

All three = Keeping Guests Happy & Safe

I know most will think I'm crazy but I'd like to do child care at one of the deluxe resorts. I love kids and then I'm not in the parks working, cause I think that would take some of the magic away.

I would like to be the one to actually design the gift baskets and flower arrangements offered by the Disney Florist. That was the most frustrating part of working there. I knew what the customers wanted, but could not give it to them. We could only offer what had previously been designed. One lady does all the design and she was not open to suggestion. :confused3

That is really sad--your baskets are so creative :thumbsup2

Thank you. They didn't let me work on baskets, even though they saw my work before they hired me and I was told that I would cross train to do so. I spent all my time in the phone room. I did talk to my manager about different ideas and customer requests, but she wasn't interested. She was much more interested in my IT background than my creative abilities. She had me doing all sorts of IT things while working for minimum wage. Thus, ended my career with the Disney Florist. Too bad. I really wanted it to work.

I heard recently that the manager I had at the florist is no longer with the company. :confused3

My cousin's job is AWESOME!!!! Years of hard work and she has the coolest job in the world. She works for DCL in marketing.

Textile services Driver, No guests & no mangers. No quota, no get done by, no nothing just do your 7 1/2 hrs work with that last hr as a 1 hr lunch & go home. Driving an 18 wheeler truck to all resorts delivering product. Starting pay $14 hr. Now I say thats awesome,lol...

Anything that doesn't involve interaction with guests. They are a bunch of whiners. :rotfl:

Or maybe a Monorail pilot.

There's on occasion the guest that just can't be pleased. And thinks they're the ONLY ONE who paid for something (park tickets, Character buffet, BBB)...

The reason why I went into Photopass were for the exact reasons the OP posted. I didn't want to be tied to one park/area, and almost all jobs are like that. Now Photopass has gone that way, but when I started things were different.
A) every 6 months during bids you could change your park location - now you have to meet transfer guidelines to move to a different park and be approved
B) training for different areas, I was trained for Icon, Characters, BBB, character dinning, and water parks. I could also be scheduled for any one of those, so sometimes I'd have a saturday shift at Typhoon Lagoon - now it's just Icon and Character training, you have be working at a water park to get water park training, or at a resort to get character dining training.
C) they really changed the way of the guest interaction. Originally it was all about acknowledging the guests (greeting them) for Icon positions and asking guests if they would like a picture at character spots - now it's all about acting like kodak and shoving a picture in the guest's face. It's also mandatory to take a picture of ALL guests at character location and hand them a card.

It just really irked me the way the policy changed, and I wasn't one about to change. There was nothing wrong with the system, why fix it if it ain't broke?? Since Photopass isn't tied to park operations, all the profits go straight to the top. Which of course made the big wigs happy with the department.

Ohh and my dream job with the company... Pyrotechnician. I'd love to sit in the middle of the fire barge during Illuminations. Or just setting off any fireworks.

Jobs that generally require 5 or more years seniority - Guest Relations, and even more to be a tour guide. Train Conductor. Steam Boat in Liberty Square.

I would love to be in charge of the holiday decorating, especially Halloween time!

I think working the front desk at a resort would be nice.. except when you get the customer that nothing can please them but maybe they would be few and far between

Also the people that clean the resort at night.. I actually like to clean so that would be ideal and to see the park when its closed and not many others around would be a dream.

I know someone who knows Tinkerbell (previously Cinderella, Belle and Wendy). She's been there for about 5 years and I believe is delaying an engineering career to stay there. My friend who worked at Space Mtn said face characters are treated exceptionally well. Something like breaks every 15 minutes, so they only work 30 minutes of every hour or so. Plus, kids are so excited to see you! But I can't imagine the day when they finally say, sorry, you're too old to be a princess. I would be SO sad!

I am in marketing communications so my ideal CM job would be to create and produce the videos and TV commercials for the parks worldwide.

They actually use an another company for most of the TV ads. PR does a lot of the blog videos.

Another IT person here. I'm a Citrix engineer and I understand Disney has a large Citrix deployment, so that is probably where I would feel the most comfortable.

I know this is not directly related to the OPs question but...........

I would love love love:lovestruc to be the conductor on the Disneyland Railroad!!

I'd love to be a server in Yak & Yeti. It smells so good in there and I'd love serving food to people.
