We were thinking it would be fun to do the Character meal thing, but will not be going with kids... Wondering if this would be strange or awkward :confused3 . Also, which one would people recommend as the best for a couple to go to. We are going Feb 3-6, 2012.

My DH and I have no children and we go to Crystal Palace every trip. Its not awkward at all. The characters come over, we take pictures with them and they move on.

Our last trip we did the Cape May Cafe character breakfast, it was fun too.

Go to the breakfast that has the characters you both like the most.

Definitely go to a character meal! My husband and I did that before we had kids, and we enjoyed ourselves. We had breakfast at 1900 Park Fare and really enjoyed the food selection there (much better than Chef Mickey's IMO), the atmosphere, and the character interaction. I agree with the previous poster: pick whichever character meal has the characters you like best! Enjoy!!.... actually, my profile pic is from that very breakfast over 2 years ago!!

I would still do at least one if we went without the kids. I'm not a huge fan of Chef MIckey (my kids are- so we still go everytime), my favorite is 1900 PF for b-fast, and garden grill is a quieter one for dinner.

Let's see..1st off-totally not weird to go sans kids. We ate at practically every character meal and saw lots of solo&duo diners with no kids! Purely based on atmosphere 8 would vote for Cinderella's Royal Table-the locale can't be beat&it can actually be romantic! We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast&dinner there. 1900 Park Fare has one of the best character meals geared towards adults in our opinion-the wicked stepsisters&stepmother are awesome! Chef Mickeys&Cyrstal Palace can be kind chaotic so if classic characters are your thing I would do Cape May-it's a much more laid back character meal. We're fans of Akershus for the "feeling" in the building as well-very regal with the princesses&high ceilings.
Hope that helps! Remember, you are at DisneyWorld-EVERYONE reverts back to a kid there! Have fun!:goodvibes

Not at all weird! I suggest picking your favorite characters and decide from there. If it's Pooh and friends, then you have to do Crystal Palace. If you prefer Mickey and friends, or Princess, you will have more choices. I LOVE Eeyore, and I haven't been able to find him in the parks on our past few trips, so this next trip we are booking breakfast at Crystal Palace. That will get us into the park before MK opens...great photo ops of castle AND Eeyore!

My family (2 adults, 2 teens) did 1900 Park Fare Dinner last summer and it was great. The characters were soooo much fun, we were slapping our knees! The food was OK, with a few exceptional items (strawberry soup, sushi), pretty standard buffet. We also love to do Chef Mickey's on the first night of our trip to celebrate and set the mood. Even though our kids are older now, we try to do at least 1 character meal per trip, sometimes more. It's a good idea to strike up a conversation with the characters so they know you're "game" to play along. We always instigate something and end up having fun.

I really enjoyed both Tusker House Safari Breakfast at AK & Cape May Breakfast. The food was great at both & the characters were fun! And we are a older couple w/o kiddos along.

I really think Cape May is my favorite so far. We had an early time & it was very uncrowded, very unrushed & the characters all come around faster. At Tusker House it sometimes takes quite awhile to see them all.

Crystal Palace I liked too. CRT was neat to see the inside of the castle..but we disliked our meal & I'm not big into princesses...I'm a Mickey & Minnie fan.

Totally do it! We have 2 little ones now but before we had kids we did it all the time. Crystal Palace is good so is Tusker House- especially if you like unique more "adult like" flavors.

DH & I have always done an early CP breakfast on our trips. We enjoy the food and getting into the MK early. And no we've never felt odd being there without children.

It's cool with or without kids. I promise that I'll do them with my wife even after our kids don't want to! All of the character meals are delicious, so maybe pick one based off of your favorite character or type of food. We LOVE Cinderella's Royal Table b\c of the food...but it's a bit pricier. Crystal Palace may be my favorite b\c of the selection and the continuous parading by Pooh and all his freinds!

Hi,
IF it's in your budget I recommend Cinderella's Royal Table, 30 minutes before Wishes begins, you will have to be in Fantasyland if there is an electric paraded and tell the CM you have ressies at CRT. Since there are two of you I can't gurantee this but you will be seated at a window. You are eating your meal while watching the fireworks from the inside. It's perfect, the food is good, it was one of my better meals, not the greatest but it's the experience and atmosphere.

1900 Park Fare is great for a charater dining experience. I've always gone with friends and have had great character interactions with us adults.

Hi All:

Thanks for the responses and suggestions... we made reservations at Cape May for breakfast. We decided based on the characters and we are looking forward to it.... Can't wait to get there... I am still such a kid inside... :cool1:

We have done just about all the character meals, and we don't have kids. Our favorite is probably Crystal Palace, just because we like the atmosphere and view, and who doesn't love Pooh? And we think they have some of the best food, buffet-wise. We also really love Liberty Tree Tavern. Great food, fun characters. Garden Grill has really great, fresh food too. Very different restaurant with interesting sights and food.

It's not awkward. The characters usually spend less time with us than they do with kids, but that's mostly because we pretty much take a picture and then that's it. Some of them take more time interacting with us, and it's a lot of fun, but that's not a big deal for us.
