Suggestions please? I like clumping best

I dont know how this compares to other peoples yearly expense, but we've been using Worlds Best Cat Litter which is a flushable litter made from corn. It does clump and we use it with the Omega Paw self cleaning litter box and last year our litter cost for 1 cat was only $80. I buy the litter from amazon for $38 for a 34 pound bag. We only used 2 bags last year with our one cat. I think the litter combined with the litter box we use, uses less litter. Here is the litter box I am referring to ( i LOVE this litter box!):

We have amazon prime so I dont pay extra for the shipping. Not sure how much the shipping cost but I do know they sell this litter at PetCo.

We have seven cats and use the PETCO unscented scoopable litter that is in bulk. We bought the containers originally and just keep refilling them. They usually have some great bonuses for their reward card holders. We have tried World's Best amongst other litters but none of them compared and most cost a lot more and just don't work well with multiple cats.

I use the Arm and Hammer brand Kitty litter. It usually is the cheapest and I actually like it better than most other litters. It really covers up odors and clumps well.

That's what we used when our cat was still alive. We had the Litter Maid and tried what they recommended, but we found that the A&H worked best with it.

We buy Fresh Step clumping litter (probably not the cheapest). The best deal we have found for it is $14 at Sam's for a 42 lbs bag.

If you have a Meijer near you we just buy their cheapest brand of clumping litter--40 lbs for $10 or $11. Only regret is that we didn't find it there sooner than 6 months ago.

same here purchased at BJs wholesale club...only one cat here & IMHO the only litter I have found that actually kills the smell

This is the same one we use but we get ours at BJ's wholesale club. The cost is $14 for 42 lbs but BJ's sends me a $2.50 off coupon. It is great with controlling odors and we have 3 cats.

We have 5 cats and two liter boxes. We use ONLY Feline Pine. Nothing covers the scent for us quite like it does. It doesn't get tracked everywhere either unless I'm behind on cleaning boxes out.

Not sure how it compares on cost, but I use the Tidy Cats Breeze system. You have pellets that they recommend you change once a month... honestly, I can go two months without problem. The pellets sit over a sifting tray and the pee falls down thru the pellets to a pad below that soaks it up and keeps it from stinking. Then you just have to scoop poop out of the pellets... the pee is all absorbed by the pad. You change the pad once a week.

Amazon has the pads for $46.54 for 40... so about $1.16 per week there. I can usually get the pellets for something like $6.47 at Wal-mart.

Like I said, not sure how it compares on cost, but we'd tried a lot of kinds of litter and this is the only thing that controls the smell in our place. And when I say "controls," I mean, I never smell it at all. Even if litter was only 4 cents a week, I could never see myself going back to living with the smell. :headache:

We have two cats and used to use Fresh Step (non-clumping) and got a 35 lb bag at BJ's Wholesale for $9.99. Last month we switched over to the BJ's brand and the same size bag is $7.99. It works great!

I was wondering about this one. If I can ask... how many cats do you have? We have 3 and it could get pricey if we have to have a seperate tray for each of them.

We use Paws and Claws from Tractor Supply, works really well, not sure what the price is though.

I use Aldi's brand scoopable cat litter and add a little baking soda every time we scoop. VERY budget friendly. A container that would cost 6-8 dollars at walmart cost 3.00 at Aldis!

I used Arm and Hammer for my 1-year-old cat when we first brought her home 7 months ago. After a few months of me dumping the whole pan every time she pooped, she started going to the door to let me know she needed to go outside. We now have "baby kitty", who just wandered up 3 weeks ago malnourished and in need of a bath. This new cat couldn't hit the litter box if her life depended on it, but she loves to get into the box and scatter litter everywhere! I have spent more on kitty litter the last 3 weeks than I did in the 3 months I bought it for my older cat, so this post comes at a great time. I may try the Aldi brand and add a little baking soda!

Try using a storage container for a litterbox - those tall blue or grey rubbermaid ones that are pretty cheap right now due to school supply season. We had some messy litterbox users and after changing them to these containers, we get a fraction of the litter thrown out of the boxes than we used to. Plus, the cats seem to like them more...I like that they are larger so they are much easier to scoop.

Do you cut a "door" for the tall storage boxes or do the cats jump up and then in? Just curious.

Costco will have either Fresh Step or Scoop Away (one or the other) at about $13 for a 42 pound bag. And often they will send out $2.50 coupons in their monthly mailers.
