What IS that gray space?

Hi experienced cruisers...or deck plan designers, DCL CMs?
I need input....

In a continued effort to discover the intended placement of my service dog's ( insert laugh here) "litter box", I've begun tracking down the unused or unaccounted for deck spaces that DCL might be referring to as a "backstage area" on the Magic. The mystery space I'm currently investigating is an arc-shaped gray area located on the forward-most end of deck 6, as shown on the DCL brochure deck plan. I've hinted at this query before but no one was able to give a definitive answer as to whether this area is a fiction, a deck, a storage area or ???. Can anyone put this question to rest? As we'll be staying in cabin 6500, it would be so convenient, as well as modest, to have Cash's open air outhouse located within steps of the seagoing vacation bedroom....Although I have Mickey/Minnie jammies, I'm not willing to parade about in them to take Cash for his "duty calls".

Any knowledge out there that can solve this mystery?

:boat:

I stayed in room 6000, right next to that gray space. It's a "crew only" area (whatever that means) that's open during the lifeboat drill. I used the stairwell to go down to deck 4 during the drill and didn't see anything interesting.

The grey area is crew cabins, I believe the command staff, as we bumped into the Captain a number of times when we stayed on deck 6 forward.

Are you saying...the service dog gets to do his duty on deck 6, next to the Capt's quarters?:) :)

Welll, that would hardly show proper respect for the Captain or crew, now would it? :p

What I'm saying is that SOMEWHERE on that ship is an area that DCL refers to as the "backstage" area. As I only have a brochure and its deck plan to go by, it looks like the supply of possible areas that are qualified to be termed "backstage" is pretty limited...and now one more possible candidate has been ruled out. Not a problem, a call to DCL might solve the mystery but I do so hate to give up my hunt so easily, although at this rate I may become a crusing legend...The p.j-dressed woman who haunts the decks with her service dog, searching for the elusive poop deck.:hyper:

Lynda,
Disney refers to ALL areas that are not 'guest areas' as 'backstage'. This goes for the ships, the theme parks and the stores.
So in terms of a 'backstage' area on the ship, that emcompasses (sp?) a great deal of space.
Keep up the hunt for your, or rather, Cash's personal 'poop deck' and we will all enjoy the hunt with you.

While I can't speak to knowing for sure, I have been told that there is a patch of grass maintained on the ship explicitly for this purpose. My guess then is that it would probably be down near the crew pool or near the bridge in one of the outdoor areas there. Of course I could be totally wrong. I will try and get further info for you.
