What is Splendid China? Anyone ever go there?

We've seen it so many times. We usually rent a house just beyond Splendid China, but we've never gone in to see what it was. Just curious!

oops. you're too late! It closed a couple years ago. It had replicas of many of the natural and humanmade wonders of China. That huge sign at the entrance to the Formosa Gardens area is still there!

All the contents were auctioned off over a year ago and some company has bought the property for an unnamed development. It was a great little place to visit, but unfortunately shut for good in 2003. If you climb over the fence the next time you go to the rental house, you might be able to snag a souvenir.

When we rented a house in Formosa Gardens we passed Splendid Gardens (or what's left of it) every day. No need to jump fences, the gates were always wide open.

Next time take a look for anything left over...maybe a stray brick from the mini Great Wall or a missed statue or something.
