if there is such a thing? I have seen $7 and up. Do these change with the season or the location?

I'm not sure what you are talking about. If you mean what does it cost to rent points from a member, that is set by what the market will bear and how desperate (or not) the member is to rent. $10 per point seems to be the general number thrown around although it could be more or it could be less. $7 per point seems pretty low.

I had the same reaction you did, Pam. I sure wish I could "buy" points at $7!!:D Looks much better than $75!

Most people are looking at $10 pp for points not in a distress mode. The one for $6 pp on the rent board is a distress rental. The $7 pp is actually an Interval Exchange which a non member is hoping to rent. It's a full 7 days therefore locks you in to the specific days and points of those days. The II exchange also includes extra charges of $95 resort services fee and is non changeable as to unit dates or size. Also, no member benefits even if one is a member.

I had the same reaction you did, Pam.

;) Morning Diane -- Does this mean we are talking to ourselves? LOL! (Just remembering how people kept getting us confused with each other a week or two ago) -- maybe we are one person. ;) :)

We've rented at $7 per point for our fall stay. We held out until we got our price and we had at least three offers to rent to us at that price from three different users (2 from these boards, one from the TUG boards). ALl those willing to rent to us at that price were not in distress, they were just willing to rent and let *both* parties win :)

People were doing a lot of things in the Fall that they don't usually do. I know for a fact that many vacations were cancelled due to 9/11. Folks either were nervous about flying, nervous about being in WDW or just too upset. Prices for cash trips also dropped, as did airfares. People may not have said they were distressed (Who would say "I don't think it's safe at WDW, so please buy my tickets and you can go" - just not realistic). $7 per point is not usual - and if life stays fairly stable, I don't think it will be commonly found.

I was trying to figure out what is average, and based on that, is there a time where it would be more vs. less expensive.

Thank you all!

I was not talking about "last" fall - I was talking about THIS fall for our upcoming trip. And all three renters were NOT under distress at all regarding 9/11. There's plenty of points out there to be rented at $7 and there's plenty out there to be rented at $10 or higher. I believe in holding out for the best price and in this case I had my reservation made at the 11 mos. window so it doesn't get any better than that! ;)
