interesting dan. thanks for the link. i wonder if it is primarily celebrated in the midwest? i have never heard of it. i'll have to ask my (midwestern) mom.
Oh!! DH is taking me to Memphis Saturday...I owe him an apology although he has no idea that its any kind of holiday...he is being thoughtful in taking me shoppin!
DH and I are going out for a grown-ups dinner...hurrah for babysitters! .
We are going to a place called "The Melting Pot" that is a fondu resturant...yum! I think it is a fairly big holiday around here since this place is having a special dinner and was nearly sold out, in fact we are having dinner at 5pm since they were so booked. I know it is a made-up holiday and have told DH not to buy me anything, but it is a good excuse to have a fun dinner
"Sweetest Day was created by Hallmark to tick wives off!"
But my birthday, valentines day and our anniversary normally got forgotten as well. Not all the time. Some times I actually bought myself a card and sat on the tv on that morning. I usually got something that night.
He had something planned twice. And they were very nice.
My DH and I got married on Sweetest Day, though I didn't know about it at the time. Now that we know about it, we don't really celebrate it since it is around our anniversary.
We were walking down Broadway down night and looking uptown at the Empire State Building. It was red and white and my Ohioan roommate said "Oh, I bet for Sweetest Day!" I seriously thought this was some weird joke and everyone I called from home had never heard of it.
So I guess she's not making it up, but I sure hadn't heard of it until this year.
On the 19th my parents will be here for Parents Weekend and I'm going to Oklahoma.. maybe I'll give Patrick Wilson some flowers.
